'You're Shashi Tharoor in saree': Priyanka Chaturvedi shares humorous moment - see how Congress MP responded

NEW DELHI: The humorous exchange between Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on a podcast brought Congress Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor again into the limelight. While speaking with Smika Prakash on an episode of the ANI podcast, Chaturvedi was questioned about posting pictures with Prime Minister Modi and anticipating public reactions. She quipped, 'I sometimes love irritating people, because they are so invested in my life, where is she going next, where's she going next?' Prakash responded by joking, 'You're basically Shashi Tharoor in a saree.' Chaturvedi laughed, saying, 'I don't know whether that is a compliment for Shashi or for me, but I am going to tell Shashi.' The clip was later shared on X by Chaturvedi, prompting a witty reply from Tharoor: 'Thanks Priyanka. I consider myself flattered either way.' Chaturvedi mentioned she first shared her picture with Narendra Modi on Instagram, which subsequently spread on X and other platforms. She recounted in a funny, imitating tone, 'We had said she went on the Parliament delegation, and it happened there.' Chaturvedi was part of the Group-2 delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad that visited European nations to highlight India's stance against terrorism. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? When asked about representing India after Opertaion Sindoor, especially being in opposition, Chaturvedi said, "That I'm a very vocal member of the opposition when I'm in my country. But when I'm outside my country, I'm the ambassador for my nation." She also criticised the Election Commission of India (ECI), stating that public trust in the poll body is waning. 'Day by day, new names are being added and removed from the rolls. Now, the system has been exposed. We have seen their press conference, and the language used was deeply unfortunate. Today, people no longer trust the Election Commission. The public will surely ask why their confidence is not being earned. It seems the Commission is focused only on winning the BJP's trust,' Chaturvedi told ANI.

Delhi High Court stays EFIs extraordinary general meeting

New Delhi [India], August 18 (ANI): The Delhi High Court has stayed the notice issued by the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) for convening an Extraordinary General Meeting (EOGM) at Dhaula Kuan, Sachin Datta passed the interim order in a petition moved by the Rajasthan Equestrian Association, challenging the legality of the notice issued by retired Col Jaiveer Singh, who claims to be the EFI's Secretary Advocate Rajeev Dutta, along with Advocate Ashish Kothari of Kochhar and Co., appearing for the petitioner, argued that the EOGM was being convened without adherence to the mandatory requirements of the EFI Statute. Chilkur Temple Priest Praises Telangana BJP Chief's Advocacy to PM

Hyderabad: C.S. Rangarajan, the head priest of the Chilkur Balaji Temple, has expressed support for Telangana BJP chief N. Ramchander Rao's recent letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The letter addresses the Presidential Reference concerning the two-judge bench's ruling on the powers of the Governor and the President. In his correspondence, Ramchander Rao emphasises the right of the deity to be worshipped, highlighting the significance of the Tiruppan Alwar Ammal (SC/ST) communities' Doctrine of Dharma in relation to this worship. He argues that the Supreme Court should not only admit the reference but also give it due consideration, particularly regarding the inalienable rights of these communities to protect and celebrate their religious practices. The anticipation surrounds the Supreme Court's decision on the maintainability of the reference, scheduled for 19th August 2025. Ramchander further notes that the Indian Attorney General, R. Venkataramani, has been appointed to assist the Court as Amicus Curiae, underscoring the need for the Government of India's legal counsel to approach the reference with sensitivity to ensure fair adjudication in light of national interests and the rights of the worshipping communities. In accordance with Article 145 (3) of the Constitution, which mandates a minimum of five judges for cases involving substantial legal questions, Ramchander asserts the importance of a thorough and considered judicial review, cautioning against any premature or inadequate rulings on such pivotal matters.
