German football team cancels 'Israeli' player transfer over offensive Gaza posts

German football club Fortuna Dusseldorf has canceled its planned signing of 'Israeli' international striker Shon Weissman following widespread fan protests over his controversial social media posts concerning Gaza from October 2023. The decision, announced on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, came despite Weissman having completed a medical examination and terms being finalized. The controversy erupted due to Weissman's posts on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the October 7, 2023 events. His remarks included questioning why "200 tons of bombs have not already been dropped on Gaza?" and commenting on a photo of detained Palestinians, "Why the hell aren't they being shot in the head?". He also liked posts advocating to "Erase Gaza" and stating "there are no innocents [in Gaza]" . Weissman later deleted the posts, claiming he acted "in the heat of the moment," but subsequently stated fans lacked "the full context" and vowed to "continue to proudly carry the Israeli flag". News of the potential €500,000 transfer from Spain's Granada ignited an immediate "online fan furore". Dusseldorf supporters launched an online petition, arguing Weissman's "disrespectful and discriminatory" comments contradicted Fortuna's principles. Initially, the club's social media manager appeared to defend the move, stating, "Judging people you don't know based on their Wikipedia page? That's not in line with our values". However, following an emergency meeting, Fortuna issued a brief official statement: "We looked into Shon Weissman intensively, but ultimately decided not to sign him". German tabloid Bild reported the club reacted directly to "fan anger," with Yedioth Ahronoth adding the decision reflected "public pressure" and "club values" .

Iran reveals 'Israeli' female pilot identity in claimed major intelligence breakthrough

Iranian state media announced Saturday a purported major intelligence breakthrough, claiming to have uncovered profiles of 'Israeli' Air Force pilots, commanders, and drone operators who participated in the recent June war with the Islamic Republic. Official Iranian broadcast channels and news outlets, including Nournews, Press TV, and ISNA, specifically named Major Yael Ash, identified as the deputy commander of Squadron 119, known as the "Bat" Squadron, and her husband, Bar Prince. The reports asserted that Iranian intelligence operatives now possess "full profiles" of these personnel, including their identities, places of residence, operational units, military bases, and "roles in other crimes". They further claimed to have "satellite images revealing the exact locations" where the identified personnel lived. Major Ash was also noted as the paternal granddaughter of Major Shimon Ash, a pilot who went missing during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Iranian channels issued explicit warnings to the identified personnel, stating, "They're No Longer Safe," and that the revelation "makes the entire world unsafe for them". The reports went on to claim that 'sample revenge already taken,' featuring pictures of alleged retaliatory strikes against one of the personnel's residences in the city of Yavne, 'Israel', and asserting that some homes were hit by Iranian missile strikes. Iran also alleged that 'Israel' relocated personnel to places like schools to preemptively claim that the Islamic Republic had targeted "civilian" sites if those locations were struck. Iran stated that what has been made public so far is only "one example" and that "The disclosures of such classified information will continue".

'Israel' kills 200 crocodiles in West Bank

'Israeli' authorities have euthanized more than 200 Nile crocodiles at a farm in a West Bank settlement, citing a "danger" to residents, according to the 'Israeli' Civil Administration. The action was met with rejection from the farm's owner and drew criticism from animal welfare organizations. The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) stated that the crocodiles "were held in an abandoned cage in horrific conditions that fall under animal abuse, with insufficient access to food, which drove them to cannibalism." The Civil Administration, which did not specify how the animals were killed, said it concluded after discussions with veterinary experts that the "real danger to the lives of the residents in the area must be dealt with immediately." The crocodile farm, located in the settlement of Peza'el in the Jordan Valley, opened in the 1990s. It became a commercial farm after visitor numbers declined following the Second Intifada. In 2013, a law banning the breeding of wild animals for their hides led to its closure, and it has since been abandoned. The farm's owner, Gadi Bitan, told the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth that he was not informed in advance of the killings, which were carried out Sunday. Bitan, who has managed the farm for 30 years, called it a "clear execution," and said that one of his employees had his cell phone confiscated during the operation. "These animals were in good health, they were getting food, and no serious incident has been reported at the farm," Bitan claimed. The 'Israeli' animal welfare organization "Let the Animals Live" condemned the incident, calling it a "horrific and unjustified massacre of protected animals." The organization noted that 'Israel' is a party to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) and demanded an immediate investigation. Videos published last spring showed 'Israeli' teenagers throwing stones at the crocodiles at the farm. Since the farm's official closure, there have been reports that some crocodiles have escaped on several occasions, causing concern among residents and visitors in nearby nature reserves.
