No. 2 seed UConn is moving on to the Final Four of the 2025 NCAA women's basketball tournament after a 78-64 win over No. 1 USC in the Elite Eight on Monday.
The Huskies were powered by fifth-year guard Paige Bueckers, who put up a game-high 31 points, three rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks in the win over a Trojans team playing without injured star JuJu Watkins.

Bueckers has been money this year in the NCAA Tournament, averaging 29 points across four games. Her 105 points in the last three games is the most ever by a UConn player in a three-game stretch.
She has been putting up buckets in a Huskies jersey since her National Player of the Year campaign as a freshman, and her continued success culminated in a major milestone against USC.

In the fourth quarter, Bueckers passed former UConn player and current WNBA star Napheesa Collier for third place in the all-time UConn scoring list. Collier finished her college career with 2,401 points. Bueckers moves onto the Final Four with 2,406 to her name.
Bueckers is expected to declare for the 2025 WNBA Draft despite having one season of NCAA eligibility remaining. If she stayed, she might have a chance to catch Breanna Stewart in second place (2,676 points) and quite possibly, the record-holder Maya Moore (3,036 points).

Rocket Classic field: Patrick Cantlay, Keegan Bradley, Min Woo Lee join PGA Tour in Detroit

The 2025 Rocket Classic just got a jolt of star power. The PGA Tour's annual stop in Detroit announced more player commitments Monday, June 2, for the tournament June 26-29 at Detroit Golf Club, with the headliners including U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa, Min Woo Lee, a fan favorite last year, Tom Kim and Aaron Rai. Advertisement Cantlay, No. 16 in the Official World Golf Ranking, and Bradley, No. 17, join Collin Morikawa, No. 4 in the world and a two-time major winner, to form a more robust 2025 field. Last year's tournament field did not have a player ranked among the world's top 20 for the first time in its six-year history, with Cameron Young the top player at No. 23. (Dustin Johnson at the 2019 Rocket was ranked No. 2 in the world, the highest-ranked golfer to ever play the tournament. He missed the cut.) Morikawa, the top-ranked player in this year's field, lost in heartbreaking fashion in his only appearance in Detroit in 2023 to Rickie Fowler in a three-man playoff. Patrick Cantlay putts on the 5th green during Round 1 of the Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club in Detroit on Thurs., July 28, 2022. Cantlay finished tied for second in 2022, his lone appearance in Detroit, five strokes behind winner Tony Finau. Bradley tied for 21st in 2023 and tied for 14th in 2021. Lee and Rai finished tied for second last year. Advertisement Australia's Cam Davis is the defending champion, rallying to win last year on Akshay Bhatia's shocking three-putt. Others in the field include past Rocket champions Davis (2024, 2021), Fowler (2023), Finau (2022) and Nate Lashley (2019), along with veterans Zach Johnson and Brandt Snedeker. Bryson DeChambeau, the tournament's 2020 winner, remains barred from playing on the PGA Tour after defecting to rival LIV Golf in 2022. Also in this year's field is NCAA Division 1 individual champion Michael La Sasso, an Ole Miss junior. More commitments will take place up until a week before the tournament, when the 150-plus-man field begins to finalize, including the winner of The John Shippen on June 21-22 at Detroit Golf Club. Right after this year's tournament, Detroit Golf Club will undergo a $16 million renovation under the direction of architect Tyler Rae. More than 100 trees will be removed, native grasses and ditches will be added, greens will be moved and enlarged and bunkers will be added. The changes, the first major transformation of the club's North Course since it opened more than a century ago, will be revealed at the 2026 Rocket Classic. With injuries piling up, Fever sign guard who scored 33 vs. IUWBB in NCAA tournament

With injuries piling up to its backcourt, the Indiana Fever signed Aari McDonald via emergency hardship waiver. Caitlin Clark is out until at least June 9 with a quadriceps strain, while Sophie Cunningham and Sydney Colson picked up injuries in the Fever's loss to Connecticut on Friday. That left the Fever with no true point guards and just two healthy guards: Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull. Advertisement The WNBA emergency hardship exception allows any team to sign a player, with immediate effect, if a team drops below 10 game-eligible players at any time. The Fever were down to eight healthy players due to the injuries, but also because they opened the season with one roster spot open because of salary cap restrictions. McDonald has averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game over her four-year WNBA career. She played the 2024 season with Los Angeles and was drafted No. 3 overall by Atlanta in 2021. McDonald played for the Perth Lynx in Australia and led the league in scoring in 2023-24. The 2021 Pac-12 Player of the Year out of Arizona, she scored 33 points in the Wildcats' Elite Eight win over IU in the 2021 NCAA tournament. The Fever host Washington on Tuesday, and McDonald will be eligible to play against the Mystics. 'We're down in numbers, but we're looking at adding another player, a replacement player, to help us with our numbers, and we'll try to get people healthy and try to get back to a full roster together,' Fever president Kelly Krauskopf said Sunday. 'I mean, games are still coming, so it's gonna be an adjustment, but we have a good group, and we have good depth, thankfully.' Advertisement Cunningham and Colson's MRIs were encouraging, and coach Stephanie White said they are 'day to day.' Neither participated in practice Sunday, but Colson was on the stationary bike during it and put up some shots after. Cunningham didn't practice at any portion, wearing slides as she came up to the court after practice was over. WNBA All-Star is coming up. Here's how to vote for your favorite players

INDIANAPOLIS — WNBA All-Star weekend is just over a month away, and Indianapolis is deep in preparations to host the game. Starting Thursday, fans will have a big part in deciding who will take the court at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on July 19. Fan voting for WNBA All-Star runs from June 12 to 28, and the All-Stars will be announced in early July. Advertisement Here's how voting for All-Star works. How are WNBA All-Stars decided? The WNBA selects All-Stars from a combination of fan, player, media and coach voting. Fans account for 50% of the initial vote, while player and media selections account for 25% each. The league will then combine all of those scores, and the four frontcourt players and six guards with the top combined votes will become the All-Star starters. The coaches will then vote to select the 12 total reserves. They are required to vote for three guards and five frontcourt players, then can vote for four players regardless of position. They cannot vote for players on their own team. Advertisement Relive Caitlin Clark's rookie season with our collector's book The 22 All-Stars will be selected regardless of conference affiliation, and the All-Star game will not be played as a competition between conferences. How will the All-Star Game work? The 2024 season saw 12 All-Stars, selected similarly to the 2025 process, play Team USA before they headed off to the Paris Olympics. This season will mark the return to two full All-Star teams. The two All-Star starters that have the most fan votes will become the two captains, and they will be part of a draft to pick their respective teams. They will first pick from the remaining pool of eight starters, then from the 12 reserves. ESPN will broadcast the results of the draft during an edition of WNBA Countdown at 7 p.m. July 8. Advertisement The coaches for the teams will be determined by the two coaches in the league that have the best record through July 4. The coach with the best overall record will be paired with the captain that has the most fan votes. How do I vote for Fever players for WNBA All-Star? Fans can submit one full ballot of up to 10 players per day, starting June 12 and ending June 28. All active WNBA players on rosters will be able to receive votes. Fans can vote through or the WNBA App. There are three 2-for-1 days on June 14, 20, and 27, when fans' one ballot will count twice. 'So far so good': 2 weeks after ankle injury, Fever's Sophie Cunningham hoping to be cleared Where is the WNBA All-Star Game? The WNBA All-Star weekend is in Indianapolis for the first time in league history. Advertisement It will be the second straight year that the city has hosted an All-Star weekend, though, as the NBA came to Indianapolis in February 2024. What Fever players have been All-Stars? Five players on Indiana's roster have been All-Stars at least once, whether it be with the Fever or on another team. DeWanna Bonner, a 15-year veteran of the league who is in her first season with the Fever, has been an All-Star six times: three with the Phoenix Mercury (2015, 2018-19) and three with the Connecticut Sun (2021, 2023-24). Natasha Howard has been an All-Star twice: 2019 with the Seattle Storm and 2022 with the New York Liberty. Advertisement Both Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston have two All-Star appearances in their career, both in 2023 and 2024 with the Fever. Boston was an All-Star starter as a rookie in 2023. Caitlin Clark started the All-Star game as a rookie in 2024, and she has one All-Star selection so far in her young career. Chloe Peterson is the Indiana Fever beat reporter for IndyStar.
