An Elden Ring movie, directed by Alex Garland, is in the works

Engadget23-05-2025

Bandai Namco has confirmed the rumors going around that Elden Ring will be adapted into a live-action movie. The project will be produced by Bandai Namco and American film company A24, and it will be helmed by filmmaker Alex Garland, who directed Ex Machina, Annihilation, Civil War and Warfare . He was also the novelist behind The Beach and had written the movies 28 Days Later, Dredd and 28 Years Later . The film will be produced by Peter Rice, along with Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, as well as with George R. R. Martin and Vince Gerardis.
Elden Ring is a dark fantasy action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware, which was also the studio behind Dark Souls . Like other "Souls games," it has a reputation for being notoriously difficult, and a movie would allow people too intimidated to even touch it to experience its story and its universe. Martin, who's of course most known for the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, provided the game's backstory and world building. FromSoftware's president Hidetaka Miyazaki directed the game. Miyazaki was also the director behind the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne and Sekiro .
Not much is known about the movie adaptation at the moment other than what Bandai Namco has announced. There are no stars attached to it yet, or a target release date. Fans do have Elden Ring Nightreign to look forward to, however: The co-op survival spinoff will be available on the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S starting on May 30. Octavia Spencer/Instagram Collins came out in a personal essay for Sports Illustrated in 2013, which made him the first openly gay athlete in a major American team sport. 'When I was younger, I dated women,' he wrote in the essay. 'I even got engaged. I thought I had to live a certain way. I thought I needed to marry a woman and raise kids with her. I kept telling myself the sky was red, but I always knew it was blue.' 4 Jason Collins is pictured during a 2014 game for the Nets. White House may ‘jazz up' Trump's briefings as he ‘doesn't like reading'

The White House's intelligence chief is said to be considering turning Donald Trump's routine briefings into a Fox News-style broadcast, with animations of exploding bombs, to make it easier for him to follow. Tulsi Gabbard is looking to revamp the president's daily brief so it mirrors a television broadcast because 'he doesn't read', NBC News reported, having spoken to five people with direct knowledge of the discussion. One idea includes hiring a Fox News producer to produce a briefing that could include maps and animations of exploding bombs. Currently, the president's daily brief is a digital document that includes written text as well as graphics and images. Mr Trump has read the daily brief 14 times since his inauguration, or on average less than once a week – less than his predecessors. 'The problem with Trump is that he doesn't read,' one source told NBC. 'He's on broadcast all the time.' Ms Gabbard believes that cadence and a distrust of intelligence officials, which stretches back to his first term, may reflect his preference for consuming information in a different form, the sources said. They also said that even if the presentation of the president's daily brief changes, the information included would not. Asked for comment, Olivia Coleman, the press secretary of the director of national intelligence, said in a statement: 'This so-called reporting is laughable, absurd and flat-out false. In true fake news fashion, NBC is publishing yet another anonymously sourced false story.' The president's daily brief was tailored for Mr Trump in his first term to include less text and more pictures. Ms Gabbard is said to have discussed more changes, including entertaining some unconventional ideas, as part of reforming the briefing. Davis Ingle, a White House spokesman, said: 'President Trump has assembled a world-class intelligence team, who he is constantly communicating with and receiving real time updates on all pressing national security issues. 'Ensuring the safety and security of the American people is President Trump's number one priority.' Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism. When Is New Horror Thriller ‘Bring Her Back' Coming To Streaming?

Sally Hawkins in "Bring Her Back." Bring Her Back — A24's new horror thriller starring Sally Hawkins from the directors of the horror hit Talk to Me — is now in theaters. When will it be available to stream at home? Directed by Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou, Bring Her Back opened in theaters on May 30. The logline for the film reads, 'A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.' In addition to Hawkins (Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water), Bring Her Back also stars Billy Barratt (Kraven the Hunter), Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips and Mischa Heywood. Rated R, Bring Her Back opened in theaters on May 30 and came in at No. 5 in its debut weekend at the domestic box office with $7 million in ticket sales from 2,409 North American theaters. When Bring Her Back comes to the home entertainment marketplace, it will first make its debut on digital streaming via premium video on demand. Typically it takes films released by A24 a month between the time they arrive in theaters to the time they debut on PVOD, give or take a few days. For example, Nicole Kidman's erotic thriller Babygirl opened in theaters on Dec. 25, 2024, and debuted on PVOD just over a month later on Jan. 28. In addition, the Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd's horror thriller Death of a Unicorn premiered in theaters on March 28 and pivoted to PVOD just over a month later on April 29. Also, directors Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza's war drama Warfare premiered in theaters on April 11 and arrived on PVOD about three and a half weeks later on May 6. If Bring Her Back follows the same release pattern as A24's Babygirl, Death of Unicorn and Warfare, then viewers can expect the film to arrive on PVOD anytime between July 1 and July 8, since new films on PVOD generally are released on Tuesdays. Since A24 has a deal with Max to stream its films first, the Warner Bros. Discovery streaming platform will be the first to offer Bring Her Back on streaming video on demand. Typically it takes about four months before A24's theatrical releases arrive on Max, which will revert to the streamer's original name, HBO Max, sometime this summer. For example, A24's horror thriller Heretic opened in theaters on Nov. 8, 2024, and debuted on SVOD on Max just under four months later on March 7. Also, Babygirl, which opened in theaters on Dec. 25, 2024, and arrived on SVOD on Max exactly four months later on April 25. If Bring Her Back follows the same release pattern as Heretic and Babygirl, then viewers can expect the film to arrive on SVOD on Max sometime between Sept. 26 and Oct. 3, since new films generally debut on Max on Fridays. Bring Her Back is now in theaters.
