A NEW television series is set to shine a light on the extraordinary achievements made by Malaysians.
The series, called Malaysia Book of Records 2025: Malaysia Luar Biasa, is a collaboration between Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) and Bernama TV.
Set to air weekly on Tuesdays at 8.30pm beginning in August, the 13-episode series aims to showcase the record-breaking stories of individuals and organisations across the country.
MBR chief executive officer Christopher Wong said the programme would feature 30 to 40 achievements per episode, covering categories of personal feats and community-driven efforts as well as corporate innovations and social impact initiatives.
'These are stories of ambition, compassion and determination that can emerge from any corner of Malaysia,' he said at the launch of the TV series in Kuala Lumpur, which coincided with MBR's 30th anniversary.
The launch was attended by Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai and MBR chairman Datuk Seri Michael Tio, both of whom expressed support for the series' positive framing of local achievements.
'Social media algorithms often amplify division and outrage,' Chun Wai was quoted as saying in a Bernama report.
'This series is a deliberate step in the other direction – spotlighting unity, optimism and progress.
'This series is dedicated to all Malaysians as a reminder that greatness lies within reach when passion meets purpose,' he added.
Tio noted that the original Malaysia Book of Records series was first aired nearly 30 years ago on RTM, and that the legacy has continued to inspire Malaysians across generations.
He said the initiative aimed to inspire the younger generation to carry on the legacy of achievement and innovation in the years to come.
'We encourage more to step forward and showcase their potential to be extraordinary Malaysians and be part of 'Malaysia Luar Biasa',' Tio added.
Since its inception in 1995, MBR has certified close to 8,000 records.

FuBear mascot breaks Malaysian record with 186 high-fives

TAIWAN Excellence's adorable mascot FuBear has made history by setting a new Malaysian Book of Records achievement, completing an incredible 186 high-fives with 70 participants in just one minute during Taiwan Expo 2025 in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. The remarkable feat earned FuBear the official title of 'Most High-Fives in One Minute By A Costume Mascot' and forms part of Taiwan Excellence's global 'Give Me Five! A Better Life' campaign, which aims to connect hearts worldwide through the simple gesture of high-fiving. This record-breaking attempt was a collaborative effort with several Malaysian organisations including First City University College, SAIEF Malaysia Fitness, non-profit community service organisation REACH Segamat, and the NGO Malaysian Creative Sewing Arts Association (PSJKM). The initiative perfectly embodies Taiwan Excellence's core philosophy of 'Innovative Solutions for a Better Life.' Since making its Malaysian debut at the Jom Heboh carnival in May, FuBear has captured the hearts of locals with its caring, inclusive, and innovative spirit. The loveable mascot has already connected communities across 11 regions globally, from Malaysia and Indonesia to Europe and the USA, spreading positive messages of sustainability, good health, and charity. Beyond record-breaking, FuBear is actively involved in meaningful community work. The mascot is partnering with PSJKM to create handmade eco-friendly bags supporting disadvantaged women whilst raising environmental awareness. Additionally, FuBear is collaborating with REACH Segamat to encourage autistic children's creativity through FuBear-themed artwork, which will be transformed into limited edition Touch 'n Go cards showcasing the children's beautiful inner worlds. All fundraising proceeds will support REACH Segamat's training centre for autistic children's education. Taiwan Expo 2025 also featured 40 high-quality products from 27 award-winning Taiwanese companies, demonstrating Taiwan's excellence in healthy living and smart innovation sectors, bringing fresh experiences to Malaysian industries and consumers. FuBear's mission of spreading love continues beyond the expo. Starting July, the mascot will visit nursing homes and orphanages across Malaysia, delivering messages of love and warmth to communities nationwide. The Taiwan Excellence Awards, established in 1993 by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs, recognise exceptional achievements in Taiwan's most innovative products through rigorous assessment of research and development, design, quality, and marketing—all whilst maintaining the 'Made in Taiwan' standard.

PUTRAJAYA, June 26 (Bernama) -- Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia (AKM) is organising the Ekspresi Merdeka creative video competition themed Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni as part of the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. The competition runs from June 5 to Aug 8, and aims to encourage public participation in commemorating the country's independence through creative expression. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said state-level winners will compete in the national finals, which will conclude on Sept 13. 'The objective of the competition is to encourage more Malaysians to enliven the spirit of independence using creative platforms. 'Further information about the competition is available on the AKM's official website and social media channels,' he said at his weekly press conference today. Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesperson, said a variety of engaging activities, including interactive nationhood sessions and lucky draws, will be held in conjunction with the state-level prize-giving ceremonies on Aug 23 and 24, and the national-level finale on Sept 13. He also expressed hope that the initiative will inspire more dynamic and relevant forms of patriotic expression among the public. Kota MADANI To Offer Savings Of Up To RM1,000 A Month For Civil Servants

PUTRAJAYA, June 26 (Bernama) -- The Kota MADANI smart city project here is expected to help civil servants save up to RM1,000 a month in living costs, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa. She said that through this project, civil servants would be able to reside in government quarters at minimal cost, with salary deduction for housing totalling only around RM400 per month. 'Their children's schools are nearby and accessible on foot. They can go to and return from school safely as the area is equipped with an advanced security system. 'Fuel costs can also be saved. So they can set aside money for the future,' she said in her speech at the launch of the Kota MADANI development project in Putrajaya's Precinct 19, officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today. Dr Zaliha said the government is developing the MADANI concept grounded in reality, not merely as a slogan. Responding to claims that the project would replace Putrajaya, Dr Zaliha clarified that Kota MADANI covers only 0.8 per cent of the entire area of Putrajaya and is a small part of a larger urban planning initiative. 'Putrajaya was built as a symbol of modern and planned administrative capital. Kota MADANI is a continuation and realisation of this vision, with emphasis on a liveable, inclusive, and secure ecosystem,' she said. Kota MADANI is designed as a 'walkable' development with short distances between buildings, integrated with MADANI and CHASE principles — namely integrated development, pedestrian-friendly environments, artificial intelligence (AI) technology, and sustainable and inclusive growth. According to Dr Zaliha, 10,000 units of quarters for civil servants will be built under the project to address the acute shortage currently faced.
