Cyclone Alfred Causes Widespread Power Outages Near Eastern Australia

Rana Atef
On Saturday, Thousands of people in eastern Australia were ordered to evacuate because the heavy rain and winds of the Tropical Cyclone Alfred may make a soon landfall near Brisbane, which is the country's third-largest city.
The cyclon caused widespread power outages along the southern Queensland and northern New South Wales coasts.
People who don't want to leave their houses were urged to stay inside ahead of its expected hit as a Category 2 storm, per the Bureau of Meteorology.
Airports, schools and businesses were closed, as the Australian Bureau of Meteorology warned. The landfall could cause heavy rain and floods ahead.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said at a Friday briefing that rainfall and wind impacts were expected to continue increasing.
"This is a serious weather event, with heavy rain, destructive winds and major flooding expected," Albanese said.
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli at a briefing called Cyclone Alfred an "extremely rare event," with the last such storm hitting state capital Brisbane in 1974.
"Overnight we saw it packed a punch," he said, after some 82,000 properties on Queensland's Gold Coast and northern NSW lost power.

New Heatwave to Hit Egypt Starting from Today

Rana Atef The Egyptian Meteorological Authority announced that Egypt will witness a severe heatwave starting from today. Temperatures will rise steadily across most regions. The temperature in Cairo is expected to reach 39°C, marking the first day of intense summer conditions. According to the latest satellite data, the weather will be extremely hot and humid in most areas, while the northern coasts will experience hot, humid conditions. France Issues Expanded Heat Alert as Temperatures Surpass 40°C

Rana Atef France is witnessing another heatwave, prompting authorities to issue an orange-level heat alert across 11 southern departments. The number expected to rise to 17 by Saturday as temperatures continue to climb. According to Le Monde, weekend forecasts suggest highs ranging between 34°C and 40°C in southern regions, with some areas potentially reaching 41°C. The heatwave is set to peak between Monday and Tuesday, with sweltering conditions likely to persist into the second half of next week. As of Friday afternoon, the orange alert covers departments including Rhône, Loire, Isère, Drôme, Ardèche, Hautes-Pyrénées, Haute-Garonne, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne, Aveyron, and Lot. On Saturday, Dordogne, Aude, Puy-de-Dôme, Ain, Savoie, and Haute-Savoie will also be added, with the possibility of further expansions in the coming days. This marks the 51st officially recorded heatwave in France since 1947, coming on the heels of another that spanned from June 19 to July 4, highlighting the growing frequency of extreme weather events linked to climate change. Météo-France has warned of an elevated risk of wildfires, particularly in the Mediterranean basin, after a devastating blaze in Aude this week destroyed over 17,000 hectares and claimed one life. Ongoing drought, worsened by minimal rainfall, continues to threaten agriculture and water resources across the southwest. The French railway company SNCF announced the cancellation of three round-trip services on the Bordeaux–Marseille line through Monday, citing concerns over potential air-conditioning failures in older train models. French authorities have called on the public to avoid going outdoors during peak heat hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable populations, including the elderly and young children. Citizens are also being urged to reduce electricity consumption to ease pressure on the national power grid. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
