Virgin Island stars' hidden romance revealed as Channel 4 releases finale early

Daily Mirror27-05-2025

Two of Virgin Island's singles who featured on the ground-breaking Channel 4 show updated viewers on what happened between them after the series finished filming
Channel 4's boundary-pushing reality series Virgin Island dropped its anticipated finale early, and with it came a surprising romantic twist involving two of the show's stars. Emma and Viraj, who both opened up about their insecurities on the show, were revealed to have gone on a date after leaving the island in the final credits.
Channel 4 shared: "Emma and Viraj went on a date and are now travelling in Australia but separately." The surprise revelation came at the end of an already explosive finale, which saw 24-year-old accountant Dave become the one cast member to lose his virginity during the series.

Dave was guided into physical intimacy by somatic practitioner Kat Slade in the island's tranquil "zen den". Since filming wrapped, he has entered a new relationship, and credits Virgin Island with helping him find the confidence to pursue it.
While Dave's story has grabbed headlines, it is also interesting to see what became of Emma and Viraj after their brief off-screen romance, which sadly did not pan out. Emma, 23, who described herself as the "DUFF" (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) during filming, has had a significant transformation.
She has gained confidence and admitted to exploring intimacy since leaving the show, and has been sharing bold videos on TikTok that she would have felt insecure about before. One clip shows her rocking a short skirt with the caption: "Not missing out on wearing a skirt because my legs are too long."
While chatting to the Sun about her brief romantic moment with Viraj, Emma admitted: "I'm not in the right mindset for a relationship – there is a lot I need to work on."
Viraj, 25, has also changed a lot since the show aired. He has been focusing on his fitness journey and mental health, which led to him shedding weight in 2024 and gaining the confidence he once lacked.

He recently addressed the wave of online memes and negativity that followed the show's airing in a candid video that he posted to Instagram. In it he shared: "The reason I went on the show was more of a personal one. A while back I went through a really tough rejection, and I guess that just really shook me and I held onto it.
"I think it changed how I interacted with women and I just shut down. I didn't feel like I was good enough, and that feeling just stuck with me. My mates saw the application to apply for the show and they encouraged me to apply and somehow I managed to end up being on it, which is insane."
He added that his focus when going on the reality series was not necessarily to have sex, but mainly to "just feel okay being me around women". Viraj went on to thank the Channel 4 therapists that coached him through his insecurities on the series, saying: "I've come out of my shell so much more and I feel way more confident. I feel like I can open myself up very well and that growth, whatever that was that I did on the island, it changed me and I can't thank the therapists enough for those one-to-one workshops."

Bloke insults size 8-10 girlfriend's ‘saggy butt' & ‘overhanging gut' on TikTok & people are horrified

A BLOKE has come under fire after insulting his size 8-10 partner's ''saggy butt'' and ''overhanging gut'' on social media. The shocking remarks were posted on the girlfriend's TikTok account where the couple appear to flog clothes to thrifty fashionistas. 2 In a desperate attempt to sell new leggings, the two decided to come up with a script - however, the brutal way the man described the girlfriend's figure totally backfired. At the start of the now-viral clip, the 5'4ft blonde, who is a size 8-10, could be seen rocking a pair of black leggings and a white tank top. But before she manages to make her way to the gym, the bloke stops her - before insulting her in the most shocking way. ''Wait! Your bum looks so saggy and your gut is hanging out. ''Do not wear these leggings,'' he demanded, before handing the fitness lover an alternative they're selling online. After the toned blonde had jumped into the new bottoms, the harsh bloke said the new look was ''so much better''. ''They lift up your bum - and they hide your gut as well.'' He went on: ''These are actually on TikTok Shop right now and they're on flash sale. ''You can grab them from the link below,'' he told stunned viewers. To make matters even worse, he also used two puking emojis in the video to show his disgust. Awkward moment inspired my unique swimwear side hustle - say goodbye to tan lines 'The insults that would come out of my mouth' Not surprisingly, the video didn't go down too well amongst furious social media users, as it went viral for all the wrong reasons. The clip has racked up close to 2million views, over 13k likes - and over 500 comments slamming the vile bloke. One outraged woman wrote: ''Mate if my partner said that to me I'd have thrown him out the window.'' Shopper reveals surprising truth about donated clothes to charity

A woman has taken to TikTok to share an important message to people who are trying to give their clothes a second home A thrifty Brit has taken to TikTok to share a startling insight into the fate of excess donations at charity clothes banks, after noticing an overflow at her local Salvation Army drop-off point, reports the Mirror. Rachel captured footage of numerous bags accumulating on the pavement, explaining in her video: "This is what I saw today. People didn't dump these - they donated - but with nowhere to left to put them, this is the result." ‌ The Vinted user, who sells second-hand clothes herself, posed a poignant question: "People came here with good intentions, but if the banks are full where do you expect it all to go? It really does break my heart to see this sort of thing happening all the time." ‌ She then went on to describe the journey of surplus donations from inside a warehouse, revealing: "Every day, warehouses like this sort through literal tonnes - and the volume isn't slowing down." Rachel highlighted the staggering global impact of clothing waste, stating: "Fashion is responsible for up to 10 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions - more than flights and shipping combined. Here in the UK alone, we send around 350,000 tonnes of clothing to landfill every year." Concluding her video, she urged her audience to think twice before their next charity shop drop-offs, questioning: "Is it clean, wearable, could someone actually use it?" She continued: "Clothes banks are full - don't leave it outside. Wait, rethink, reuse - we don't need more waste, we just need change." Illustrating the extent of the issue, Rachel revealed that even warehouse spaces are overwhelmed, with clothes quickly accumulating soon after being cleared. "Look how much these volunteers have to go through every single day," Rachel pointed out. One TikTok user expressed their astonishment: "Wow this is mind blowing statistics... and resellers still getting negative comments. Brilliant video Rachel. Thank you for sharing." ‌ Another viewer concurred: "It's absolutely mind-blowing the general public has no idea just HOW bad it is." A third commenter lamented a local clothing collection point, noting it's often filled to the brim and exposed to weather: "We have a clothing collection point in my estate outside of our little shop, to be honest I've never seen anyone empty it, but it must be full as yesterday there was numerous bags piled on top. "It's been pouring with rain all night here so they will all be ruined now. Such a shame!" ‌ A forth advised: "Take it back home try again another day, or take to a charity shop... bl**dy simple... don't just leave it there." One in five individuals expressed frustration with their local situation, saying: "People leave stuff outside a local charity shop by me and they aren't allowed to accept it. I sometimes see people going through it but the next day it always gets collected by council for landfill." ‌ This scenario supports Rachel's statistics, which are in line with Waste Managed's assertions: "Globally, the fashion industry produces around 92 million tonnes of textile waste annually. This contributes significantly to environmental pollution, with the industry responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions." Additionally, the statistics show: "We consume 62 million tonnes of textiles per year. By 2030, this is expected to reach 102 million tonnes. The fashion industry accounts for 8.1 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions." The Salvation Army has been approached for comment.
