After one of the series' most dramatic episodes, viewers were given a slow reveal of what might be coming next and who the key players might be.
Ellie finally learns which group Abby has joined after leaving the Fireflies. More crucially, it provides clues about her probable location, as well as that of her friends.
However, Ellie and Dina also encounter another faction during their journey in a horrifying scene, reports
the Mirror
.
So, who are the WLF in The Last of Us? Who are the robed individuals that Ellie and Dina stumble upon, and who is The Prophet they mention? What part do they play in the narrative? Here's everything you need to know.

What is the WLF?
In essence, the WLF can be viewed as a counterpart to the Fireflies, albeit with a different geographical origin. However, there are some notable differences in their methods, objectives, and operations.
While the Fireflies appear to have originated on the East coast in
Boston
, the WLF, as indicated by their name, were established on the West. Their name stands for Washington Liberation Front, and they refer to themselves as Wolves, adopting the animal as their emblem.
The group was established in Seattle, Washington by Emma and Jason Patterson, a couple who grew weary of living under government control, with food shortages being a significant problem. However, when we encounter them in the game, their leader is a man named Isaac, who was chosen to lead after the Pattersons' demise.
Similar to the Fireflies, they are a rebel faction that rose up against the fictional government entity FEDRA, which assumed control of quarantine zones across major cities in The Last of Us' world following outbreak day.
However, while the Fireflies aim to restore the democracy of the United States and engage in guerrilla warfare, the WLF is a militant paramilitary organisation that seeks to seize control through force, often choosing open and direct conflict.
While the Fireflies share a message of hope among themselves, "look for the light", the WLF aligns more with viewing themselves as warriors. Their motto is: May your survival be long. May your death be swift.
Following the fall of the Fireflies as seen in season one's finale, many of the surviving members, including Abby and her friends, travel to Seattle to join the WLF. As shown in the final scene of episode three, they are surprisingly large in number. In the game, they use a massive football stadium as their home base.
Who are the Prophet and the Seraphites?
Towards the end of the episode, we encounter a group of individuals dressed in brown robes with an unusual symbol on their backs. They communicate with each other over distances by whistling.
Observant viewers will also notice the scars on their faces.
The Seraphites, a group at war with the WLF over territorial control in Seattle and surrounding Washington state, have ideologies that directly clash with each other.
Founded in Seattle by a woman known only as The Prophet, she preached that the Cordyceps infection was a divine punishment for humanity's sins, offering a chance for redemption.
Her teachings inspired others to join her in living off the land. However, she was eventually captured by the WLF, befriended her guards, but was deemed too dangerous by the WLF leader and executed.

The Prophet is unseen in the original game, except for painted images on walls and altars. A character mentions it's been a decade since her death in the latest episode, suggesting her symbolic reference will continue in the series.
The WLF refers to the Seraphites as Scars, a nod to their self-inflicted wounds. Believing themselves to be imperfect beings, they scar themselves to reflect this imperfection.
They shun technology from the "old world", although exceptions are made for their soldiers battling the WLF.
While Ellie and Dina are taken aback by the sight of a large group of dead Seraphites in the episode, their introduction in the original game is far more horrific. Ellie stumbles upon a small group of members on her own.
They have captured a WLF soldier who they hang and gut in a gruesome scene not yet depicted in the show.
The Last of Us continues on HBO and streaming on MAX.

Free Palestine." TV personality Sharon Osbourne was among the forefront figures who accused the ensemble of "openly supporting terrorist organizations." She later allegedly suggested that their US visas should be cancelled. In response to the allegations, they defended themselves on social media, stating: "The recent attacks against us, largely emanating from the US, are based on deliberate distortions and falsehoods." They continued: "For over a year, we have used our shows to call out the British and Irish governments' complicity in war crimes. We are taking action against several of these malicious efforts." And I think that's refreshing, because usually we move around the world hiding who we are. That's the main lesson I've gotten from him: there's no reason for me to hide who I am, right? And I think people are seeing that." Lux Pascal, seen her with her sibling in January 2024, came out as trans in 2021 Revealing how she is coping during such an uncertain time for the trans community, Lux told THR: "Maybe it's not a good idea, but I'm focusing in my work. I'm doing stuff, and I want to keep my focus in that, and hopefully the storm will cease. "I mean, we just went through a pandemic. Can we all just chill for a while and show empathy towards one another? I don't know, maybe I'm too much of a romantic,' she added. Property investor toured famously raided P Diddy mansion and made shocking discovery
Bo Belmont, the 42-year-old property investor known for flipping notorious estates into gold, wasn't dazzled by Sean "P. Diddy" Combs ' famous Holmby Hills mansion. Accustomed to luxe interiors and breathtaking grounds, what caught him off guard was not the expected opulence but an unsettling find in the garden. After spinning Kanye West 's stark Malibu abode into a $9.3 million windfall, Bo cast his eyes on Diddy's once-lively palatial home, priced at a hefty $61 million, which has now been raided by the feds . While exploring the 17,000 square-foot property — boasting 10 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a cinema, wine cellar, and a concealed tunnel — it struck him that something was amiss. Read More Related Articles Donald Trump and Melania slammed as they're caught chatting and smiling at Pope Francis' funeral Read More Related Articles Jenna Bush Hager left in tears over emotional dedication involving career move "It definitely did not have the wow factor," Bo confessed to The Sun. "It just looked like a standard Bel Air home — nice marble, basic shaker cabinets. If you're paying $60 million, you expect to be blown away." Diddy was charged with sex trafficking (Image: Getty Images) However, the genuine astonishment was lurking outside. As Bo inspected the estate, his mate, content guru Daniel Mac, allegedly made an eerie find among the greenery: bottles of baby oil, eerily hinting at the mansion's past filled with wild alleged sex-fueled gatherings, reports the Mirror . "I don't know if it was planted or not," Bo remarked, his voice tinged with confusion. "But Daniel posted it on Instagram and suddenly got hit with a ton of legal threats from people connected to Diddy." The FBI's March swoop on the celeb's mansion unveiled over a thousand bottles of baby oil, intensifying the controversial accusations around the hip-hop mogul who's up against some severe charges such as transportation to engage in prostitution, sex trafficking, and racketeering. For thrill-seeker Bo, this encounter with infamy only added to his bizarre tour of a home where Hollywood grandeur met tabloid drama head-on. Despite its A-list location and palatial rooms, Bo wasn't sold on its worth; he went in low, offering just $30 million — to the sheer disbelief of Diddy's representative. "The agent felt disrespected, which is fine — I'm not in this to make friends," Bo said nonchalantly. Yet, with the clouds of court trouble gathering over Diddy, Bo's now banking he's got a 75 percent shot at snapping up the property. Should his gamble pay off, he's set to strip the place bare, erasing the notorious party palace aura for a clean, contemporary reinvention. "When it comes to the P. Diddy house, we actually have to change the whole façade," he explained. "It needs to be completely gutted." Diddy is facing five charges across three federal indictments, including sex trafficking, conspiracy racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Diddy pleaded not guilty to all charges against him. Additionally, he vehemently denies all allegations of wrongdoing against him, including those alleged in civil lawsuits. Jury selection for the case is set to begin on May 5 with opening statements slated for May 12. For the latest local news and features on Irish America, visit our homepage here .
