Beyoncé vies for artist of the year at MTV VMAs. Will she make history again?
The VMAs will broadcast live from New York's UBS Arena on Sept. 7. Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, The Weeknd and Lady Gaga, who leads the pack with 12 total nominations, are also nominated in the prestigious category.
This year is especially significant for Beyoncé, who will face off with Swift for the most ever VMA wins. Both women have a total of 30 wins and are nominated for artist of the year at the 2025 show. Last year, Swift took home seven VMAs, tying Beyoncé as the top winner.
Of course, Beyoncé is already the most decorated artist in Grammys history with a total of 35 wins. Ahead of the 2025 award show, she became the leading nominee with a total of 11 nominations. Some of those included nominations in the country and American roots categories for the first time. In total, seven different songs from the album were nominated across four genres.
She wound up winning album of the year for the first time for her eighth studio album, "Cowboy Carter." She also made history as the first Black woman to win best country album for 27-track project.
"I'd like to thank all the incredible country artists that accepted this album," Beyoncé said when accepting the award. "I think sometimes genre is a cold word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they are passionate about and to stay persistent."
She also won the award for best country duo/group performance for "II Most Wanted" with Miley Cyrus at the award show.
Of course, Beyoncé singer closed out her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas on July 26. The concert signaled the end of her "Cowboy Carter" era — a 32-stop stadium tour that spanned the U.S. and Europe. The tour became the highest grossing country tour with over $400 million in earnings.

'The No. 1 Destination for the Most Talented Artists': Netflix Stock (NASDAQ:NFLX) Notches Up as the Duffer Brothers Consider Jumping Ship
In what may be one of the strangest news pieces I have heard in a while, streaming giant Netflix (NFLX) may be about to lose one of its biggest acts: the Duffer Brothers. If that name is not immediately familiar, then perhaps their property will be: Stranger Things. Perhaps even stranger than the things in question is who Netflix may lose to here. Matt and Ross Duffer, the guys behind the runaway hit Stranger Things, may be landing a new deal at, of all places, Paramount (PARA). Yes, the studio that has been relentlessly flailing for months as people wondered if it could even pull off a merger successfully may be about to poach the makers of one of Netflix's biggest properties. One of Paramount's new goals is to become the 'no.1 destination for the most talented artists and filmmakers in the world.' Interestingly, the move might have been made possible from a completely different Netflix loss, as Cindy Holland—who helped get Stranger Things off the ground at Netflix—herself moved to Paramount, and is now the head of streaming therein. However, reports note that a deal between the Duffers and Paramount would also include theatrical-release feature films. A Win in Animation But Netflix may be about to make a serious surge in one respect: animation. Netflix animation has been a bit of a mixed bag of late. Some of it is great, some of it not so much, and in some cases it is both great and terrible depending on the season. Disenchantment, I look squarely at you here. But one series is proving to be a big winner for Netflix: the unlikely hero of Kpop Demon Hunters. Not only is Kpop Demon Hunters the most viewed animated movie on Netflix right now, it is also the second most-viewed movie period on the platform. For a movie that has only been available since late June, that is no mean feat. Greenlight Analytics director of insights and content strategy Brandon Katz notes that this is Netflix's '…first real, organic, mega hit animated franchise.' But what does Netflix do for an encore here? That answer may determine whether this is a long-term winner or a flash in the pan. Is Netflix Stock a Good Buy Right Now? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Moderate Buy consensus rating on NFLX stock based on 26 Buys, 11 Holds, and one Sell assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. Anna Faris, Regina Hall to star in 'Scary Movie' reboot after 20 years: 'Fab four is back'
Anna Faris and Regina Hall are returning to their roots. Not only are the Wayans brothers – Marlon, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans – on board for "Scary Movie 6," two of the franchise's original stars will also reunite for the reboot, according to an announcement on Friday, Aug. 15. "The fab four is back. So excited to work and reunite with these two brilliant women," actor/writer Marlon Wayans wrote in an Instagram post. "We are so proud of all they have done since the inception of the scary movie franchise." He shared the announcement alongside a movie still from "Scary Movie 2," with Faris as Cindy, Marlon Wayans as Shorty, Shawn Wayans as Ray and Hall as Brenda. Hours earlier, Wayans had teased the announcement by posting a photo of Faris and Hall from the original 2000 film alongside a cryptic caption: "👀 SM6." Hall and Faris' last appearance in the horror parody franchise was 2006's "Scary Movie 4." They didn't appear in the 2013 standalone installment, "Scary Movie 5," which made a lukewarm showing at the box office. Both women found their breakout roles in "Scary Movie," with Faris taking her comedy chops to "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," "The House Bunny" and the CBS series "Mom." Hall starred in "Girls Trip," "Law Abiding Citizen" and "Ally McBeal." The creative minds behind the franchise, the Wayans brothers were only involved in the first two films.
