Moment cycling hero Sir Chris Hoy forced to leave room at 4am amid cancer fight after bathroom floods through ceiling

The Sun03-05-2025

SIR CHRIS HOY has more than enough to contend with right now without having to worry about water leaking through his hotel roof at 4am.
But that's the fate which the inspirational Scottish cycling star had to contend with in the early hours of the morning when a guest situated above him left the bath on.

The Olympic cycling legend revealed in October that his prostate cancer is terminal.
Hoy, 49, has been given just two years to live by doctors, but has approached his condition with inspiring positivity.
He still has a busy calendar of events - as he gives inspirational speeches and raises funds for charity in addition to promoting his autobiography.
So he could have done without the hotel drama which he experienced at 4am.
He took to his Instagram account to share video of water gathering in massive puddles in his bathroom as it trickled down from the level above.
And he wrote: "Big shoutout to the person who left their bath running upstairs and caused me to have to move room as at 4am."
Hoy - whose wife Sarra was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis shortly after Hoy's announcement - has made multiple appearances to raise awareness.
Who could forget the ovation he got from Scotland rugby fans as he delivered the match ball for the game against Ireland?
He gave a rousing speech at the BBC Sport Personality of the Year Awards in December.
He also presented darts sensation Luke Littler with the Ballon d'Art trophy in January - an emotional appearance which left viewers in tears.

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury enjoy luxury family staycation after rekindling romance

Molly-Mae and Tommy are enjoying a family staycation in the Cotswolds with their daughter Bambi Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have taken to the Cotswolds for a charming family staycation, just weeks after they publicly rekindled their relationship. The 26-year-old old influencer and her boxer beau are enjoying a break with their two year old daughter Bambi. Molly-Mae took to Instagram Stories to share adorable images of the family-of-three's time away. ‌ Sharing a mirror selfie, Molly revealed in a caption: "Back from St Tropez and straight to the Cotswolds for a surprising staycation. This look is giving mum who's had approx 3 seconds to get ready." ‌ The Love Island star then shared an image from Aynhoe Park, the grand 17th-century country house on the edge of Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire, close to the Cotswolds, which she described as "heaven". Molly-Mae shared several photos of the house's interior, as well as cute pictures of Bambi toddling about with a mini pram. She said the mum and daughter were playing a game where her baby doll was 'put to bed' in every room. More snaps from the holiday showed Molly-Mae grinning next to Tommy with little Bambi in the foreground. Another showed Molly-Mae and Bambi enjoying pool time. Molly-Mae humorously described the challenge of telling Bambi she couldn't swim, comparing it to an impossible task, laughing: "Never gonna happen. It was freezing." ‌ Molly and Tommy, who first found love on Love Island in 2019, went Instagram official with their reunion a few weeks ago. The pair were seen enjoying ice creams with their daughter Bambi in a heart-warming day out. Their split last summer had come as a shock to many, especially since they had been building their dream life together since meeting on the show. They had bought a house together and welcomed their first child. ‌ In August, they both released statements about their separation on social media but in her Amazon Prime series, 'Molly-Mae: Behind it all,' the reality TV star teased her rekindled romance with her ex-fiancé. Molly-Mae opened up about her relationship with Tommy in the latest episode of her docuseries, admitting things have taken a positive turn since their split and "are looking so much better." The influencer shared her thoughts on the relationship, describing it as "worth saving", and expressed her desire to take things slowly with Tommy, rather than rushing into anything. ‌ On the documentary's reception, Molly-Mae expressed her gratitude on social media, writing: "I'm so overwhelmed by the response to the last three episodes of 'Molly-Mae: Behind it all.' "Opening up again wasn't any easier than the first time... I was so nervous to share more but seeing how much it's resonated with people has meant everything to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart." Just this week, Molly-Mae confirmed that a second series of the Prime Video show is in production, hot on the heels of Tyson and Paris Fury's announcement of a second season for their Netflix reality show. Cynthia Erivo and The Vivienne among ‘LGBT+ changemakers' in 2025 Pride List

Wicked actress Cynthia Erivo and drag queen The Vivienne are among the stars who feature on a list 'celebrating the most influential LGBT+ changemakers of the past year'. The Independent's Pride List for 2025 also includes retired Olympic diver Tom Daley, actor Bella Ramsey, artist David Hockney, comedian Joe Lycett and author Juno Dawson. Erivo, 38, who won a Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (Glaad) Award earlier in the year, was placed at number four on the top 10 list while The Vivienne, the drag alter-ego of the late James Lee Williams, is seventh. The Vivienne, who won the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK and spoke publicly about prejudices faced by LGBT+ people and by the drag community, died in January at the age of 32 and is a posthumous inclusion on the list. Topping the 2025 Pride List is Victoria McCloud, a lawyer, former judge and transgender woman who announced she would take the Government to the European Court of Human Rights over the Supreme Court's ruling on the definition of a woman. Dr McCloud said: 'I'm delighted and honoured that The Independent has included me in its Pride List this year. 'In 2025, more than ever before, amidst increasing oppression and segregation at home, with court and state against us, people from the trans community yearn to be bathed in rainbow light. 'These are uniquely dark times but we will challenge those who wish to marginalise us, be they Government or activists with money and the odd mega-yacht to spare. 'We have been here for centuries; we will be here for centuries to come. The quiet majority walk with us.' In April the UK's highest court unanimously ruled that the terms woman and sex in the Equality Act 'refer to a biological woman and biological sex'. Chloe Hubbard, UK editor of The Independent, said: 'We are proud to champion our most influential LGBT+ changemakers once again on our annual Pride List in a year where the community has been further marginalised on both sides of the Atlantic. 'Visibility and pride within the queer community feels more vital than ever and we are dedicated to continuing to occupy our unique place in the media on LGBT+ issues.' In 2023, The Independent relaunched its Rainbow List as the Pride List, to recognise 50 extraordinary 'LGBT+ changemakers'. The 2024 list included Doctor Who and Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa, commentator and former England footballer Alex Scott, Wicked and Bridgerton actor Jonathan Bailey and screenwriter Russell T Davies. To mark the publication of its Pride List, The Independent will host an event at Queer Britain on June 11. This year's top 10:
