Anita Dobson looked jubilant as she won Scene of the Year for her surprise EastEnders return, while Amelia Flanagan held back tears as she accepted her gong at the British Soap Awards on Saturday night.
Stars of the country's favourite soaps descended on London's Hackney Empire for the annual bash which was hosted by Jane McDonald.
And among the biggest moments of the night was Anita, 76, scooping an award for her reprisal of the iconic Angie Watts for EastEnders' special anniversary episode in February.
The actress returned as the Queen Vic's first landlady for the first time in 37 years for a heartbreaking cameo with daughter Sharon - played by Letitia Dean.
Her shock return left viewers stunned and in tears, with fans branding it the 'TV moment of the year', so her win came as no surprise.

Anita won the prize over stiff competition from Mason's death in Coronation Street, Amy's deathly plunge in Emmerdale and Hollyoaks' Mercedes confronting of her mortality.
Meanwhile, Amelia was overcome with emotion as she was announced as the winner of Best Young Performer for playing April Windsor in Emmerdale.
The 16-year-old - who previously won the prize for Best Young Performance for the role in 2015 - couldn't hid her shock as she took to the stage to accept the trophy.
The actress beat out Corrie's Will Flanagan, EastEnders star Sonny Kendall and Hollyoaks' Noah Holdsworth for the win.
Another standout moment of the ceremony was Sir David Jason taking to the stage to present the coveted Best Soap award.
The Only Fools and Horses star, 85, cut a dapper figure in a classic black suit and bow tie as he announced EastEnders as the winner.
It capped off a good night for the residents of Walford, with the BBC soap coming out the victor of this year's awards with a whopping eight wins.
Following in their wake was Hollyoaks with three gongs, Emmerdale two and Coronation Street only receiving one win on the night.

As well as their wins for Anita and Best Soap, EastEnders also nabbed the Best Episode award for Phil's Psychosis: The Mitchells In 1985.
Steve McFadden, who plays fan favourite Phil Mitchell, won the Best Dramatic Performance award while Patsy Palmer won Best Comedic Performance for her role as Bianca Jackson.
The popular progamme also scored Best Villain for Navin Chowdhry for his role as Nish Panesar, while Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey Slater, won the Best Leading Performer Award.
Rudolph Walker & Angela Wynter (Patrick & Yolande Trueman) delivered another win for EastEnders as they won Best On-Screen Partnership.
Hollyoaks' three awards started with Isabelle Smith who won Best Newcomer for her role as Frankie Osborne.
The Osbornes then won the Best Family award while Hollyoaks' sibling sexual abuse storyline received the Best Storyline award.
Emmerdale's camera operator Mike Plant took home the Tony Warren Award which is given to employees working behind the scenes.
Coronation Street's sole gong of the night was the Outstanding Achievement Award which went to David Neilson who has played Roy Cropper for 30 years.
Denise Walsh and Martin Kemp presented the Best Newcomer award together, before Denise was surprised with an award herself by Shirlie Kemp.
The actress was given the special CHEE award, standing for Corrie, Hollyoaks, Eastenders, Emmerdale, for someone who has appeared in all four soaps.
Last year's show was suddenly cancelled with no explanation after the nominees had been announced.
The June 2023 edition reached 5.7 million viewers in total with just under one million streams on ITVX and a peak of 3.2m viewers via its linear overnight broadcast.
Singer and self-confessed soaps lover Jane, 61, stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Phillip Schofield two years ago after he quit ITV after admitting to an affair with a young male This Morning colleague.
Host Jane said: 'I'm beyond excited to be hosting The British Soap Awards again as I had such a ball hosting the awards last time.
'You all know I love my soaps, so to be in a room giving recognition to all these wonderful actors and their fantastic hard work is simply joyous. I can't wait to get my glittery frock on and celebrate with everyone.'
Meanwhile, Gemma John-Lewis, Entertainment Commissioner ITV said: 'The British Soaps Awards are an opportunity to celebrate and shine a light on the incredible actors and production teams that deliver gripping drama and captivating stories throughout the year.
'We're delighted Jane McDonald, a self proclaimed number one soap fan, is returning to host the awards.'
The British Soap Awards airs on Thursday at 8pm on ITV1 & ITVX.

My friend went to extreme measures to stop me going home from a night out and ended up in A&E – the X-ray says it all

A MUM has told how her best pal swallowed her house key in a cheeky prank - then ended up in A&E. Siobhan Stanton, from Edinburgh, gobbled down friend Adele Donkin's metal door-opener to stop her leaving the pub and heading home. 4 But the 35-year-old's drunken stunt awkwardly backfired as she found herself in hospital the next day. Medics carried out an X-ray which revealed the distinctive metal shape lodged in her large intestine. Adele, also 35, said she thought best pal Siobhan was only pulling her leg near the end of their night out in the capital She told Fabulous: "We had been out at the local pub and it was nearly the end of the night and I was standing at the pub door with my key in my hand. "I said to her 'I'm going home now' and she was asking me to stay out longer. "I kept saying no then she just grabbed my key and swallowed it. "I genuinely thought she was winding me up and had pretended to swallow it and had it hidden behind her back. "So then I couldn't go home as my mum was night shift at work so I had to phone her at work and tell her what happened, she thought I was winding her up too. I had to stay at my friend's that night." The mum-of-two continued: "We went to A&E, they did an X-ray and said it would pass naturally. "It did about five days later and she asked if I wanted my key back but I said no thanks I will get a new key cut. "Me and her always have the funniest nights out, we have been in some funny situations. girl gets hilarious drunken tattoo while on holiday "When I asked her why she swallowed the key she said 'I would have missed you if you went home, I just wanted you to stay out'". The 2017 incident went viral on Thursday with 200,000 TikTok views after Adele - who said it "still makes her laugh out loud" - posted about it for the first time on her page (@adeledonkin). One person joked: "My kinda friend." Referencing horror flick Saw, another wrote: "She really said 'let's play a game'." 4 4 A third said: 'Sorry. Cant come home, she's swallowed the key' most believable story." Did that hurt going in AND THEN going back out cause girl that is some commitment", screamed a fourth.

Emmerdale star confirms fan favourite's return after months off-screen

A FAN favourite on Emmerdale is making a long-anticipated return. Dylan Penders, played by Fred Kettle, will be returning to ITV screens soon after months off the show. 5 5 5 The character was first introduced to Emmerdale viewers earlier this year when he befriended April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), during her stint being unhoused and living on the streets. Despite caring for April and becoming good friends, her dad Marlon Dingle, was not a fan on Dylan and resorted to planting drugs on Dylan in a desperate bid to force him out of April's life. But his plan backfired dramatically when Dylan ended up overdosing and left to attend rehab. Emmerdale producers revealed earlier this month that Dylan would be returning to the village, but Amelia, who plays April on the soap gave a hint when exactly fans can expect to see him again. "April has had an incredibly tough year with what she has been through, with the pregnancy and the homelessness storyline," she told Mirror Online. "April and Dylan didn't leave things on the best terms, but I think what is important now is that he's back." Amelia added: "Who knows what will happen. It will be great to explore that relationship further, I think fans want to see that which is great." It's been a big week for Amelia who took out the gong for Best Young Performer at Thursday's British Soap Awards. She managed to win the prize ahead of her brother William Flanagan, who was nominated for playing Joseph Brown on Coronation Street. Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw confirmed Dylan's return earlier this month. Emmerdale's Marlon visits Dylan in hospital after he takes an overdose "Lovely Fred Kettle, who plays Dylan, is coming back to the show," she told media. "He's going to be bringing his past back to the village with him. And that's going to cause huge problems for April and the wider family there." Laura added: "We've got a couple of exciting new castings that are joining us for that story, but I'm not allowed to tell you who they are. Watch this space, because it's very exciting." 5 5

Moment runaway BULL charges down streets of Birmingham & grinds traffic to a halt while being chased by cops

A BULL has been spotted running loose on the streets of Birmingham. West Midlands Police rushed to the scene after receiving reports that the animal was loose in public. 4 Police and the council worked to ensure the animal was taken to a safe location. The bull was initially spotted roaming around Small Heath but he managed to cover most of the East of Birmingham on his journey. He was eventually captured and taken to safe and more suitable environment. Video footage of the large bull running along a pavement was shared to social media. The bull appeared to be having a grand time as nervous cops stood by and watched. Passing motorists stopped to watch the beast as it trotted along in the city centre. It is unclear where the bull came from or how it got loose. He appeared to be having a good time, running along the road and on pavements quite happily. No injuries were reported and the bull doesn't appear to have been aggressive. Motorists can be seen in footage stopping their cars and watching in disbelief as the animal ran past them. Looking slightly confused the bull eventually makes its way onto the road before charging away from the camera towards a roundabout. Boasting a pair of menacing horns and a yellow ear tag the bull posed an intimidating sight. At one point the bull can be seen charging towards a lorry before stopping and changing its mind about goring the huge vehicle. 4 4 Cars and pedestrians can be seen in footage moving away from the animal as it runs around exploring the city. While it didn't appear aggressive, bulls can weigh up to 1,000kg and pose a serious risk of injury to humans. Councillor Majid Mahmood, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport said: "This magnificent animal seemed to be enjoying an unexpected city break." "Well done too to our animal welfare staff and park rangers who are ensuring it is safe and well and the public are safe." West Midlands police said: 'We were made aware of a bull in the road near New Bond Street in Birmingham at just before 9.30am today. "We're liaising with Birmingham city council and other agencies to ensure the animal is taken to a safe location.' Birmingham is frequently associated with bulls, with its main shopping centre, named the Bullring, boasting a large bronze bull statue at its entrance. 4
