Crying child disturbs Emma Raducanu during loss to Aryna Sabalenka in Cincinnati
Raducanu was preparing to serve at 3-4 in the tense third set of her 7-6(3) 4-6 7-6(5) defeat when she stopped and looked at the official to say that the child had been wailing for 10 minutes straight.
"It's a child, do you want me to send the child out of the stadium?" the chair umpire asked almost in disbelief, prompting Raducanu to merely shrug.
Raducanu then smiled and pointed to the stands as several members of the crowd said "yes" on her behalf having heard the chair umpire's question.
The official said she could ask staff to have the baby removed, but added: "We need to continue for the moment," before the action resumed.
Raducanu went on to win the game and draw level at 4-4 but eventually fell to world number one Sabalenka, who will take on Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the last 16.

Sinner, who turned 24 last Saturday, did not feel well after winning his semi-final against French qualifier Térence Atmane but had hoped he would recover in time before facing Carlos Alcaraz. Advertisement Yet he only lasted five completed games of the first set before telling a trainer and tournament official in Ohio: 'I cannot move – I feel like I can collapse.' Sinner, who holds three of the four majors, apologised to fans as medics rushed over to treat him and he was heard saying: 'I tried, but I can't. I'm sorry for the fans.' It is not thought to be serious enough to prevent him from defending his US Open crown with the singles tournament starting this Sunday. Yet his absence is a huge blow to organisers behind the reimagined US Open Mixed Doubles Championship, which has a $1million prize for the winning team. Advertisement Sinner and Czech player Katerina Siniakova will not take part now – they had been due to face German Alexander Zverev and Switzerland's Belinda Bencic in the Last 16 at the Louis Armstrong Stadium. Tom McKibbin and Graeme McDowell's LIV Golf prize money after Rahm's near miss
Jon Rahm claimed his second successive LIV Golf individual championship despite suffering defeat in a play-off in Indianapolis and failing to secure a single victory on the tour throughout the entire season. The Spaniard was beaten by Colombia's Sebastian Munoz and remains without a triumph for more than 12 months. Nevertheless, he edged out Joaquin Niemann for the crown and the $18 million top prize despite the Chilean golfer claiming five victories on the LIV Tour in 2025. Rahm confessed the title felt "slightly bittersweet" following his defeat in a play-off for the second consecutive LIV event. "Like I know I'm supposed to be happy. It's a great moment. But it just doesn't feel great to finish the year losing two play-offs," said Rahm. "Have a great Sunday today and then hit the pin and unfortunate moment on the playoff hole. "That part doesn't feel great, so I'm sure over time I'll get over that, and I really appreciate what I've done this year. To be able to win the season without actually winning a tournament, I know eventually I'll be proud of that. "Right now it's slightly more something I'm going to suffer over a little bit more, and it may never be replicated. "You need a lot of coincidences to go on exactly with the year Joaquin had. He's won five times; he's played incredible golf. One could argue he was probably the more deserving guy to win this. "But we have the points system that we have, and somehow, I don't know how, I managed to pull through and get it done." The individual rankings were confirmed on Sunday with former Open champion Henrik Stenson the most high-profile player to suffer relegation after being edged out by his Majestics GC teammate and co-captain Ian Poulter, who avoided the drop himself thanks to four birdies in the final five holes. Rahm's Legion teammate Tom McKibbin finished T22 alongside Stenson on 11 under-par, but finished 20th overall in his debut season. The Belfast golfer also banked $203,000 last weekend while Graeme McDowell faces an uncertain future at LIV. The former US Open champion claimed $307,667 after finished T14 at Indianapolis, but is 34th overall in the individual standings, meaning he is in the 'open zone' and is not guaranteed a spot with Smash GC next season. The LIV season ends with the Team Championship in Michigan this weekend.

Carlos Alcaraz jokes Emma Raducanu 'will be boss' in US Open mixed doubles dash
Carlos Alcaraz is set to team up with Emma Raducanu after embarking on a 600-mile journey to the US Open. The defeated Wimbledon finalist was revealed to be joining forces with the British star in the mixed doubles tournament. The contest is scheduled for the week prior to the main tournament, although there were initial concerns about whether the duo would be able to participate. Alcaraz, aged 22, was just in action at the Cincinnati Open yesterday. He initially led 5-0 against Jannik Sinner, who ultimately withdrew from the match due to illness. Shortly after collecting his trophy and fulfilling his media obligations, Alcaraz hopped on a private jet with Iga Swiatek to make it to the doubles tournament. His journey spanned over 600 miles from Cincinnati to New York. Asked about the revamped event ahead of his mammoth journey, Alcaraz said: "It's good. The scheduling is not the best to be honest, playing tomorrow. But the concept of the mixed doubles, I love it. "It's going to be new for me, which I love. I'm going to have so much fun, playing with Emma. I will try to enjoy as much as I can. I will try to see how the court is going to be, the balls, everything. "I will treat it as a really important and good preparation for me. I will try to be at my best tomorrow after the trip to New York. I'm probably going to sleep late, but I will try to bring my best tennis to help Emma get the win then let's see if we will get it, it's going to be fun and great to have those matches." Raducanu and Alcaraz are set to kick off their doubles campaign at 7pm on Tuesday. They have been drawn to face Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula in the opening round. How will Emma Raducanu do at the US Open this time? Share your predictions in the comments below Alcaraz's journey comes after he recently joked that Raducanu would be calling the shots in their double-up. He said: "She's going to be the boss. "The US Open came to us and gave us the opportunity to play mixed doubles. I'm super excited about it, it's going to be great, it was an amazing idea from the tournament. "I've known Emma since a long time ago – I have a really good relationship with her so it's going to be interesting. We are going to enjoy [it] for sure, I'll try to put my doubles skills on and we'll try to win." Following the conclusion of the mixed doubles event, both Raducanu and Alcaraz will turn their attentions to their singles campaigns. Raducanu has not progressed past the first round since her breakout shock victory in 2021. Meanwhile, Alcaraz won the men's tournament in 2022 but only reached the second round last year.
