CHAN 2024: Sudan vs Senegal – How to Watch & Predicted Score

Morocco World2 days ago
Sudan meet defending champions Senegal in their final Group D match at the Amani Stadium, with both sides aiming to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Zimbabwean referee Brigthon Chimene will blow the kick-off whistle at 6:00 pm (GMT+1), and fans can catch the action live on BeIN Sports MENA, L'Équipe, and SuperSport.
Sudan go into the game top of the group after a 4-0 victory over Nigeria, and only need to avoid defeat to confirm their progress. Coach Kwesi Appiah, however, has made clear his side will not sit back. 'I don't go into games to defend. The best way to defend is to attack. We're playing for goals. There are 11 players in each team; why should we stay back?' he said.
Appiah's side are unbeaten in nearly a year, with their last loss coming in November 2024 against Niger in the AFCON qualifiers. They opened the tournament with a draw against Congo before putting four past Nigeria, with goals coming from across the team. The coach believes set pieces could prove decisive. 'It is difficult to get goals in open play. Teams rely on set pieces. We're working on free kicks as a medium to score,' he explained.
Captain Fares Abdullah also expects Sudan to rise to the occasion. 'My performances alongside that of my teammates are a result of the trust we have for each other and our quality. I feel we'll do better against Senegal,' he said.
Senegal enter the fixture with four points from their opening two matches. Forward Libasse Gueye, man of the match against Nigeria, said: 'Football is a collective game. I always put my team ahead. For me to be best, I need to play collectively with my colleagues.'
Coach Souleymane Diallo has labelled the match 'a quarter-final before the quarter-final.' He reminded his squad that past success counts for little: 'Being champions for us is history. History remains in the past, but we must capitalize on improving in the present and future.'
A draw would take both sides through, but a win for either team would secure top spot, while Congo remain in contention should results go their way.
Score Prediction:
A tight contest is expected. A 1-1 draw would be enough to see both progress. Tags: CHAN 2024senegalSudan

Coach Sektoui Confident Despite Injuries Ahead of Morocco-Tanzania Clash

Rabat – Morocco's local national football team is ready to face Tanzania in the quarterfinals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) on Friday. However, Morocco's coach, Tarik Sektoui, admitted during a pre-match press conference today that the team has some defensive challenges ahead of tomorrow's decisive game. Key players Abdelhak Assal and Marouane Louadni will miss the match due to injuries, while Bouchouaib Arrassi is suspended because of accumulated yellow cards. Despite these absences, Sektoui said he will make the right choices to keep the team balanced against Tanzania. He stated that the team aims to reach the semifinals, then the final, and ultimately win the championship. 'The level Moroccan football has reached demands that we aim for the top in any tournament, no matter the difficulties,' Sektioui said. When asked about the strong support Tanzania is expected to receive from its home crowd, Sektoui said his players are used to big matches in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup. He added that the crowd could motivate the Moroccan players to perform even better, adding a special flavor to the game. Sektoui also commended his players' form and commitment, saying they 'deserve recognition for their hard work, dedication to the national jersey, and great sense of responsibility.' Morocco, the two-time reigning CHAN champions (2018 and 2020), have shown their class in the group stage. They opened with an impressive 2-0 win over Angola, rebounded from a rare defeat to host Kenya, then claimed consecutive 3-1 victories, first against Zambia and then against DR Congo. Their performance earned them second place in Group A with nine points, just behind Kenya, setting up a high-stakes quarter-final against Tanzania. Tags: CHAN 2024MoroccoTanzania

Tanzania Coach: Facing Morocco in CHAN is Like Facing Their First Team

Rabat – Tanzania's local football team coach, Hamed Suleiman, has expressed confidence in his squad as they prepare to face Morocco in the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024). The match will take place on Friday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. Speaking to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Suleiman commended the Moroccan team, saying they play with the same mentality as the senior national team. 'For me, we are playing against Morocco's first team, not just the local side,' he said. Despite the challenge, the coach remains optimistic. ' We respect them, but we're not afraid. I know the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium will be full, because the Tanzanian people now believe in their team,' the coach said. This is a historic moment for Tanzania, as the team has reached the knockout stage of CHAN for the first time. Suleiman described it as a reward for his hard work and the determination of his players. 'Nobody believed we would go this far. I fought hard for these moments, I worked tirelessly, day and night. I'm the only one who believed in our ability to get out of the group stage,' the coach stated. The highly anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. local time. Fenerbahçe vs Benfica – How to Watch & Predicted Score

Fenerbahçe host Benfica in Istanbul in the first leg of their Champions League playoff, with both sides eyeing a place in the group stage. German referee Daniel Siebert will blow the kick-off whistle at 8:00 pm (GMT+1), and fans can catch the action live on BeIN Sports MENA, M+ Liga de Campeones, and TRT1. The Turkish side are bidding to return to Europe's top competition for the first time since 2008-09, while Benfica are looking to reach the groups for a fifth straight season. Fenerbahçe beat Feyenoord in the third qualifying round, coming through 6-4 on aggregate after a 5-2 win at home. But their domestic start was less convincing, as they opened the league campaign with a goalless draw against Goztepe, managing just one shot on target. Their recent record against Benfica is also a concern, with three defeats in their last four meetings, including a 3-2 friendly loss last month. Historically, Benfica have won four of the seven encounters between the sides, while Fenerbahçe have only one victory. Benfica, by contrast, arrive in fine form. Bruno Lage's men are unbeaten this season, winning all four matches in all competitions without conceding. They claimed the Portuguese Super Cup against Sporting Lisbon, beat Nice 4-0 on aggregate in Europe and opened their league campaign with a narrow win at Estrela. Even so, the Portuguese side have never won away to Fenerbahçe, losing twice and drawing once in three visits to Istanbul. Jose Mourinho is expected to stick with his three-man defence for Fenerbahçe, with Jhon Duran and Youssef En-Nesyri up front. Benfica are missing Bruma, Manu Silva, Alexander Bah and Tomas Araujo through injury but still boast firepower, with last season's top scorer Vangelis Pavlidis already off the mark alongside summer signing Franjo Ivanovic. Score Prediction: The hosts' home support could make it competitive, but Benfica's sharper form, defensive solidity and proven European pedigree give them the edge in the first leg. Let's say Fenerbahçe 1-2 Benfica. Tags: Benficachampions leagueFenerbahceMourinhoYoussef En-Nesyri
