Little Girl Goes Viral After Mistaking Fisher-Price Toy for Her Grandpa (Exclusive)

Yahoo27-02-2025

A Michigan mom got a big laugh when she realized her daughter, Salem, thought a Fisher-Price toy looked just like her grandpa
Olivia Brado tells PEOPLE she took a video of the moment after realizing the uncanny resemblance
Now, the video has gone viral with nearly 500,000 views on TikTok
When Olivia Brado's 2-year-old daughter Salem first started saying "Papa, papa," she assumed it was because the little girl wanted to go visit her grandpa. But after a closer look at the toy in her hand, she realized it was because Salem thought the toy was actually modeled after her grandpa.
Brado, who lives in Michigan, tells PEOPLE that Salem had recently inherited a bag of hand-me-down toys from her cousins. In the bag were a number of Fisher-Price's popular "Little People" toys, a line of figures, vehicles and interactive playsets for toddlers.
"We were at my mom's house and we dumped out the bag of toys and she started picking through them," Brado says. "Then I kept hearing her say, 'Papa, papa.' "

As Brado explains, she often takes Salem to visit her grandpa at his workplace after taking her to visit her grandma. "So when I heard, 'Papa' over and over, I thought she just wanted to see him."
But then Brado and her mom noticed Salem was clutching one of the toys tightly in her fist.
"My mom looked at it, and said, 'Does she think it's your dad?' " Brado says. "And I took a closer look and sure enough, it looks just like him. My mom and I looked at each other and just started dying laughing."

Brado immediately got her phone out and took a video of the sweet moment, uploading it to TikTok with the caption: "My daughter looked at one of her toys and immediately thought it was my dad."
She also sent the video to her dad, who replied, "LOL."
"I replied and said, 'But, it's you.' and he said, 'I see that.' "
Brado also dropped the video in the family group chat — her dad, David, is one of nine — and "every aunt, uncle and cousin was like, 'Oh that looks just like him.' "
"The hands, the build, the face shape ... it all checks," Brado adds with a laugh.
The video has already been viewed more than 420,000 times since it was uploaded on Feb. 11, 2025, and many commenters say it resonates.
!
"I've had a lot of comments," Brado says. "One girl said every time her kid sees Wreck-It Ralph, she says it's her dad."

Other commenters are urging Brado to get backups of the toy, just in case it ever gets lost.
"I don't think it's made anymore. I've seen a lot of them on eBay," she adds. "And she does have a few favorite toys but that is certainly one of them."
Still others say perhaps Brado should enlist the toy-maker in the conversation.
"A lot of people are like, 'You better tag Fisher-Price. do they know they owe your dad royalties for using his likeness? ' " Brado jokes.
Brado, a professional special effects makeup artist, certainly has ideas on how to keep the fun going, saying she hopes to convince her dad to dress up as the character — and bring him to life for her daughter — come Halloween.
"I am begging him, 'Please, can we get you in pair of overalls?' "

ICE says it detained TikTok's top star, Khaby Lame, who then left the US

Lame, an Italian-Senegalese creator with around 160 million followers on TikTok, had overstayed the terms of his visa after entering the US on April 30, the spokesperson said. He was briefly detained at Las Vegas's Harry Reid International Airport before being granted voluntary departure. He's since left the country, they said. A representative for Lame declined to comment. The 25-year-old creator became TikTok's most-followed star in 2022 after developing a signature comedic style of silent reactions to social-media absurdities. The creator leveraged his TikTok audience into a business that BI previously reported had grossed $16.5 million in 2023 from brand deals alone. After gaining internet fame, Lame broke into other parts of media, attending this year's Met Gala and building a collection with the clothing brand Hugo Boss. Lame has also partnered with brands like Google, State Farm, and Pepsi, which worked with the creator in a marketing push tied to the 2024 Super Bowl. He's appeared as a character in the video game "Fortnite," and previously said that much of his brand work is in the US. "I don't think I have a single sponsor in Italy," Lame told BI last year. The main thing keeping him in Italy is family, he said.

Domhnall Gleeson Says His Character in THE PAPER is Not Like Steve Carell's Michael Scott - "I Hope People Will Find a Way to Love Him As Well" — GeekTyrant

Fans are excited for the series The Paper , as it's set in the same world as the beloved series The Office , and we are all hoping for another great comedy with characters we love to watch. But for anyone who thinks this is just a remake, think again. Domhnall Gleeson ( Harry Potter , About Time , The Patient ), who is taking on one of the lead roles in the new show, is hopeful for the series, but wants to make it clear that he is not another Michael Scott, who was played by Steve Carell in The Office , or Ricky Gervais, who originated the annoying boss role of David Brent in the original British version. Gleeson told People in a recent interview: 'I don't think my characters like Michael Scott at all. I think if you're trying to compete with what Steve did or with what Ricky Gervais did, I think it would be a massive mistake. They are geniuses who are incredible in loads of different ways. We made a whole new character. And it's a whole new sort of set up, but I hope people will find a reason to love him as well, just in a different way than they did the guys before." It's great to hear that they are making a brand new story and characters we will get to know as the show develops. I'm looking forward to watching The Paper when it debuts on Peacock this fall.

Maria Menounos and YouTuber Rebecca Zamolo Get Candid About Feeling Connected to Their Babies in Surrogacy (Exclusive)

Maria Menounos and YouTuber Rebecca Zamolo have a candid conversation about the struggles of surrogacy in an upcoming episode of the journalist's podcast "Heal Squad" Menounos welcomed her baby daughter Athena via surrogacy, while Zamolo is expecting her second baby, her first via surrogacy Menounos shared her honest thoughts about connecting with her daughter after welcoming her with a surrogateMaria Menounos and YouTuber Rebecca Zamolo are getting candid about surrogacy. In an exclusive clip shared with PEOPLE ahead of the Wednesday, June 11 episode of Menounos' podcast Heal Squad, the actress, 47, spoke with the YouTuber in an honest conversation about the difficulties of surrogacy. Menounos, who welcomed her daughter Athena in June 2023 via surrogacy, was asked by Zamolo, who is currently expecting her second baby but her first via surrogacy, if she had difficulty connecting to her daughter after she was born. "So my question is, was it hard for you to feel a connection? Because for me, the first pregnancy, I felt every kick, every movement. I felt prepared, not prepared but like it had been nine months in the making," Zamolo begins. "I was nesting, I was feeling like this human was coming," she continues. "But in this one with surrogacy, I forget what week we're on, and all of a sudden, the baby's coming. I worry that I'm not going to feel the connection. How did that feel, the day you had her?' Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. In a lengthy response, Menounos recounts how she felt just before welcoming her daughter, noting that things might be different for her because she wasn't able to carry a pregnancy. "But I was really lucky. Kim Kardashian really helped me on this journey because it's really scary to give up control to do all of this, to have somebody else carrying your child," Menounos said. "And she was so chill about everything that she made me more chill about everything because I saw that it worked." She went on to say that she did things like record her voice for her surrogate to play to her belly, in the hopes that her daughter would become familiar with her voice. "And then, yeah it's weird. Time just flies and you're like, 'Okay, we're getting close.' And then when it was time to get close, they lived in Wisconsin," explained Menounos. "So we had to go to Wisconsin and we were on baby watch for like three weeks because we thought she was coming early and then she just really enjoyed the womb and stayed a little longer." "And then when it came to the day, I'll never forget. My husband woke me up and he's like, 'It's time.' And I'm like, 'Wait. What?' " Menounos remembered. "You know when you wake up from the dead and you're just like, 'I don't even know where I am and now you're telling me we're having a baby?' I was just literally spinning in a circle, didn't even know what to do or where to go." She explained that even though she's been preparing for so long to welcome her daughter, when the actual day came, it almost didn't feel real. When her daughter was born, she was still in her embryonic sac, which Menounos says is "very, very rare." "I watched her come out. They peeled it off of her. And so they say that those babies have a vision that nobody has. They see things no one can see. It's really special," she says. "And so I grabbed her, with a little towel, with a little blanket thingy, and I had her on my chest instantly. And it was unbelievable. And I just kept kissing her and telling her I loved her, and it was so. I mean, it was like part shocking, part joy, part just like. I don't know how to explain it." After doing skin-to-skin and taking her daughter out in the sun for the first time, Menounos let her surrogate carry her for a minute. "But it was really special, and I don't think I could be more connected to her. But I also don't know any better," says Menounos. "So I have to leave space for the fact that you have had the other experience. And I know Khloé Kardashian's talked about it and said she didn't feel it. Did you hear that? So I'm sure that scared you.' 'Yeah, you know there's not a lot of people that talk about the surrogacy, so definitely,' Zamolo responds. Menounos continued to say that her best piece of advice is to just focus on feeling grateful rather than spiraling about any fears you might have. "So I mean, the best thing I could say is just try to release any of those fears because ... and if you can just stay in gratitude, they say that fear and gratitude can't live in the same space," Menounos explained. "So if just stay in gratitude — you're having a baby. It's a miracle. And just stay focused on that." "Imagine how good that feels, whereas the fears of 'Am I going to be connected?' Now you're also potentially manifesting more of that because you're staying in that vibration," she continued. "So just stay in this vibration as much as you can because it's your son. Or your daughter, whatever it is, I don't know. It's your baby. And you're going to foster that connection and you're going to be close no matter what. So. That's my thought.'
