Sharing workaround for Windows security update issues, Microsoft

Microsoft has shared a workaround for users affected by a known issue that blocks Windows security updates from deploying on some Windows 11 24H2 systems.
As the company explained when it acknowledged the bug in December, it only occurs when installing Windows 11 from CDs and USB flash drives that also install the October 2024 or November 2024 cumulative updates.
"When using media to install Windows 11, version 24H2, the device might remain in a state where it cannot accept further Windows security updates," Microsoft says.
"This occurs only when the media is created to include the October 2024, or November 2024, security updates as part of the installation (these updates were released between October 8, 2024 and November 12, 2024)."
However, these deployment problems do not impact security updates delivered via Windows Update and the Microsoft Update Catalog or if the installation media comes with security updates released in December 2024 or later.
While Redmond said it was working on a fix, it updated the Windows release health dashboard on Thursday to tag the known issue as resolved and advise affected users to reinstall Windows 11, version 24H2, on their systems using media that includes security updates released since December 2024 to avoid experiencing these problems.
"To prevent this issue, do not install Windows 11, version 24H2 using media that installs the October 2024 or November 2024 security updates," the company states.

Iraq to set up AI data center to support Arab countries
Baghdad ( – Iraq is working to establish an artificial intelligence center in Baghdad as part of a project serving Arab countries. During his meeting last November with Deemah AlYahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), Al-Sudani stressed that the government has included digital transformation into its economic and administrative reforms, as well as electronic payments. Al-Sudani emphasized the government's potential to make a big change in this area, as well as its willingness to collaborate with the DCO on initiatives that benefit Iraq and the region in the context of digital transformation and artificial intelligence. In March, Ali Al-Alaq, governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), disclosed that the government is working on a comprehensive digital transformation strategy. In a statement to INA, Al-Alaq highlighted that the government is following a plan aimed at transitioning to digital governance. He stated that Iraqi ministries would take a leading role since steps have already been taken, initiatives have been implemented, and a data center has been constructed.

Government advisor: Iraq is working to establish an artificial intelligence data center to serve Arab countries
The Prime Minister's Advisor for Artificial Intelligence Affairs, Diaa al-Jumaili, announced on Tuesday the start of organizational procedures to open the headquarters of the Artificial Intelligence Center in Baghdad, while noting that Iraq will work to establish an artificial intelligence project that serves the Arab countries. Al-Jumaili told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Arab Center for Artificial Intelligence, which is similar to the Arab Union for Artificial Intelligence, will be based in Baghdad, because the start of artificial intelligence started from here 1,200 years ago through algorithms, logic and algebra." He added that 'the first step that was taken was the approval of the Prime Minister, Mohammed Shi'a Al-Soudani, along with the approval of the Arab Summit that was recently held in Baghdad, that the center of artificial intelligence will be in the capital,' noting that 'organizational procedures have begun, and the first of these steps was the approval of the project.' 'There were several previous opportunities for other countries to host the center during the past five decades, but the circumstances that Iraq went through, especially the wars, prevented this,' he said, pointing out that 'the technical and organizational aspect has already started, and there is a meeting soon with the Prime Minister to complete the deliberations, because Iraq will be obligated to lay the foundations for the center.' "Iraq has a large number of engineers and professors specialized in the philosophy of artificial intelligence," he said, stressing "the need for advanced data centers and a strong communications network." "Iraq will now work with Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt to take advantage of the technology available to them, in addition to utilizing Iraqi skills to create a project that serves Arab countries, especially in the Arabic language," he said. 'The future success of artificial intelligence in the Arab world depends on Arabic , which contains more than 12 million and 500,000 vocabulary, compared to English, in which artificial intelligence relies on only about 6,500 vocabulary,' he said, pointing out that 'the humanization of the machine will be through Arabic poetry, and Iraq has a long history in this field, because it is the cradle of two large linguistic schools, Kufa and Basra.' "Without the algorithms that originated in Baghdad, there would have been no industrial revolution or sciences such as engineering, philosophy and artificial intelligence," he said, noting that "Iraq's steps are correct, and we need technology and skills."

The Minister of Communications: International companies are interested in the Iraqi digital corridor project
Baghdad-INA Minister of Communications Hiyam Al-Yasiri confirmed on Friday that major international companies are paying great attention to the Iraqi Digital Corridor project. Al-Yasiri told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Work on the digital transformation file is being carried out in an integrated manner between the Ministry of Communications and the Communications and Media Commission, under the direct supervision of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, who heads the Supreme Committee for Digital Transformation in Iraq." She added, "The government has made digital transformation a priority, and the Prime Minister has adopted it as a fundamental criterion for evaluating the performance of all ministries." She indicated that "the ministries have worked hard to enhance the transition to digital services." She noted that "digital transformation contributes to maximizing revenues and is an effective tool in combating corruption by eliminating paper transactions."
