Bakersfield woman sentenced to jail for arrow-firing incident
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Bakersfield woman accused of attempting to shoot an arrow at a police officer during an assault investigation was sentenced Tuesday to 270 days in jail, according to court records.
Sandy Lynn Ramirez in January made an 'open plea' — when a defendant enters no contest pleas to all counts in the hope the court sentences them to a lesser punishment than what's sought by the prosecution.
She pleaded no contest to three felonies — including assault with a deadly weapon — and three misdemeanors for the court-indicated term, which also includes two years on probation.

On a November morning in 2023, police were called to Bernard Street near Fashion Place to a report of an assault and contacted a woman who said Ramirez grabbed her by the neck and choked her.
Ramirez also allegedly accosted a 16-year-old girl who used pepper spray to defend herself.
Ramirez barricaded herself inside her bedroom. When police tried contacting her, she fired an arrow into the door and threatened she had a gun, police said.
She was taken into custody about 20 minutes later after police used a Taser.
