Egypt opens $100M Egypt Kadi project in SCZone
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly officially inaugurated the Egypt Kadi Textile Factory, a significant addition to Egypt's growing industrial sector, during his inspection tour of the Ain Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone. This new facility is part of the TEDA Egypt Industrial Zone, a key investment hub within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of SCZone, emphasized that the Egypt Kadi project is a $100 million investment and is set to generate 4,500 direct and indirect job opportunities, reinforcing the government's efforts to attract foreign investments and boost local employment.
During the visit, Cao Hui, Managing Director of TEDA Egypt, provided an overview of the industrial zone's development. He highlighted that the first phase of TEDA Egypt's expansion, covering 1.34 square kilometers, has been fully completed with $152 million in investments. Meanwhile, the second expansion phase is currently underway on 6 square kilometers, with a total investment of $230 million. Additionally, discussions are ongoing with the Egyptian government for an extra 2.8 square kilometers to accommodate more factories and further expand industrial operations.
Spanning 250,000 square meters, the Egypt Kadi Textile Factory stands as a major player in Egypt's textile industry. Constructed in just one year—from October 2023 to October 2024—the factory started trial operations in January 2025 and boasts an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons of fabric.
In its first phase, the factory is projected to achieve $35 million in annual sales, with plans to launch the second phase in March 2025. Full-scale operations for this expansion are expected to commence in December 2025, further increasing the factory's production output and market reach.
Beyond production, Egypt Kadi has made significant investments in technological innovation. The company has established scientific research laboratories dedicated to advancing textile manufacturing technologies, enhancing product quality, and maintaining its competitive edge in both local and international markets.
The inauguration of the Egypt Kadi Textile Factory marks a milestone in Egypt's industrial expansion, aligning with the country's broader vision to strengthen its manufacturing sector, attract foreign investment, and create sustainable job opportunities.

OPEN// PM starts tour at Ain Sokhna port to follow up importing natural gas
CAIRO, June 21 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted on Saturday that the Egyptian government is actively working to secure the country's natural gas needs by enhancing the infrastructure required to receive imported liquefied natural gas (LNG). This move aims at boosting the efficiency and flexibility of Egypt's gas supply system to meet the growing domestic demand, particularly during the high-consumption summer months, he added. This came during an inspection tour on Saturday at Ain Sokhna port where Madbouli emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader, integrated package of measures being implemented by various ministries to ensure the stability of the national electricity grid. He particularly highlighted the importance of energy security in light of recent regional developments, notably the Israeli military operation in Iran. During the visit, Madbouli inspected the LNG regasification vessel Energos Eskimo, reflecting the government's commitment to strengthening energy security and ensuring the sustainability of gas supplies. He was accompanied by Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi. Madbouli revealed that Egypt is set to operate three regasification vessels starting from July. World Refugee Day: UN hails Egypt's refugee hosting experience as example to follow
During a meeting with the Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) on Friday, Hamdan hailed Egypt's efforts, at the institutional and grassroots levels, in support of refugees, describing Egypt's experience in this regard as an example to follow. There are no official camps for refugees, who are integrated into the Egyptian society, which continues to welcome them with open arms, Hamdan pointed out. She noted that the UNHCR is working closely with various ministries, as well as educational and health institutions in Egypt, to provide joint support, which reflects positively on both refugees and the host community. Hamdan said that the UNHCR's visit to Egypt, set for June 24, comes at a crucial time to launch a response plan that deals with the fallout from the Sudanese and Syrian crises while meeting the needs of other refugees in Egypt and supporting host communities in Egypt. She highlighted the burdens Egypt bears to provide decent humanitarian support to these refugees. Asserting the UNHCR's keenness to highlight the suffering of refugees and asylum seekers around the world on World Refugee Day, observed on June 20, Hamdan said global funding is still not enough to provide for refugees' needs, given the mounting humanitarian crises and their complexity.
