Flipkart ad labels its double sale as Sa Sa Le Le

Time of India23-04-2025

E-commerce
giant
Flipkart
has launched a summer sale campaign. Dubbed "SASA LELE," the double sale campaign promises twice the excitement and twice the discounts.
The campaign hinges on a jingle that repeatedly chants "SaSa LeLe" instead of explicitly mentioning a sale. The jingle is accompanied by visuals that showcase Flipkart's diverse product catalogue – from refrigerators to kurtas – in a repetitive and absurd manner.
A promotional link released by Flipkart warns viewers, "Be warned warned, you can't see this just once once."
Pratik Shetty, CMO at Flipkart, said, "We briefed the team to be bold, creative, and unexpected. And SASA LELE hits that sweet spot. It's so strange, it's smart. The audience will watch it once, then twice. Maybe thrice. SASA LELE is beyond possibilities – it's not just a sale, it's a DOUBLE SALE.'
Rohan Mehta, CEO of
FCB Kinnect
, added, "In today's attention economy, the weird wins. And with this campaign, we doubled down on the weird. SASA LELE is a dream come true for our mad-hatters. It's creative, it's memorable, and most importantly, it's unmistakably Flipkart."
Neville Shah, CCO at FCB Kinnect, said, 'A sale is about selling. And with a sale almost on all the time, we needed to announce the size of this. We looked at pop culture. Then owned it. A meme made GRAND? Opera. What are the things on sale? THE CATALOGUE. How do we have fun? Like this. We love it.'
Whether it's the nonsensical jingle, the repetitive visuals, or the sheer audacity of the concept, one thing is clear: Flipkart is betting big on the power of the unusual to capture consumer attention and drive sales.

Flipkart gets RBI approval for direct lending

Ecommerce firm Flipkart has secured non-bank financial company (NBFC) licence from the Reserve Bank of India. This will enable the company to offer loans directly to consumers and sellers on its platform. The licence has been granted to Flipkart Finance Private Limited. Also, it is said that this is the first time a major ecommerce company has received NBFC status. Walmart-owned Flipkart had applied for the licence in 2022 and it is said that the company might start its lending operation soon. It is reported that the ecommerce giant will be lending directly to its customers on its platform. Last month, in the townhall 'Flipster Connect', CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy had said that the company will be hiring 5,000 employees and that a majority of these hires will be working at Flipkart Minutes, which is the firm's quick commerce arm and its fintech platform. Krishnamurthy also spoke about the flip back of the company and said that he was confident that they will continue to focus on profitability with a renewed emphasis on customer centricity.

Fintech entry cleared: Flipkart gets RBI nod for lending licence; plans for NBFC rollout still under wraps

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now has received a lending licence from the Reserve Bank of India, paving the way for direct financing to customers, though the ecommerce firm is yet to disclose operational details. The Walmart-backed company confirmed on Thursday that it had secured a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) licence from the RBI, with sources indicating the approval came in March, PTI reported. While Flipkart acknowledged the development, it did not offer details on how or when the NBFC arm would be operationalised. According to sources, the licence could enable the company to offer credit services such as EMIs or instalment-based financing directly to consumers on its platform. However, specifics of product rollout remain unconfirmed. Walmart currently owns over 80% of Flipkart, having acquired a majority stake in the company in 2018. The development comes shortly after Flipkart, which is preparing for a public listing, announced in April that it plans to shift its holding company from Singapore to India. The move, Flipkart said, aligns its structure with core Indian operations and reflects long-term commitment to the domestic market. "We are inspired by the Government of India's strong vision and proactive initiatives in fostering a thriving business environment and ease of doing business, which have significantly shaped our journey," a Flipkart spokesperson said in April. "This move represents a natural evolution, aligning our holding structure with our core operations, the vast potential of the Indian economy and our technology and innovation-driven capabilities to foster digital transformation in India.
