"There is no blood flowing in Modi's veins, but hot Sindoor": PM Modi at Bikaner
Bikaner (Rajasthan) [India], May 22 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that India, after Operation Sndoor, made it clear that Pakistan will have to pay a heavy price for every terrorist attack and said that 'there is no blood flowing in Modi's veins, but hot Sindoor.'
'Pakistan has forgotten one thing: that now Modi, the servant of Mother India, is standing here with his head held high. Modi's mind is cool; it stays cool, but Modi's blood is hot. Now there is no blood flowing in Modi's veins, but hot Sindoor. Now there will be neither trade nor talk with Pakistan. If there will be talk, it will only be about Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK),' PM Modi said at a public rally in Bikaner.
'Now India has made it clear... Pakistan will have to pay a heavy price for every terrorist attack. And this price... will be paid by Pakistan's army... will be paid by Pakistan's economy... Ye shodh pratishodh ka khel nahin, ye nyay ka naya swaroop hai, ye Operation Sindoor hai. This is not just an agitation; this is the 'Raudra Roop' of a strong India. Ye Bharat ka naya swaroop hai. Pehle ghar mein ghus ke kiya the vaar, ab seene pe kiya prahar hai. (First, we entered their house and attacked; now we have attacked them on their chests)... This is the policy and the strategy to destroy the fangs of terrorism... This is new India,' PM Modi added.
The PM said that those who had shed the blood of innocent Indians had now been accounted for.
'Today, with your blessings and the valour of the country's army, we have all lived up to that pledge. Our government gave a free hand to all three forces... Together, the three forces created such a Chakravyuh that Pakistan was forced to kneel down. Today, from the land of Rajasthan, I want to humbly tell the countrymen that those who had set out to wipe off the Sindoor have been reduced to dust. Those who shed the blood of India have been accounted for every drop. Those who had thought that India would remain silent are hiding in their homes today. Those who were proud of their weapons are buried under a pile of rubble,' he said.
In reference to the abeyance of the Indus Water Treaty following the Pahalgam terror attack, PM Modi said, 'India has made it unequivocally clear that Pakistan will bear a heavy cost for every terrorist attack. This cost will be paid by Pakistan's military and its economy. If Pakistan persists in exporting terrorism, it will find itself begging for every last penny. Pakistan will not receive a single drop of water from India's share. The days of playing with the blood of Indians are over - it will now come at a steep price. This is the policy; this is the method to crush terrorism. This is India, the new India,' he added.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 in response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. (ANI)

Many Congress leaders and party functionaries, including MLA Jyoti Gaikwad, Congress spokesperson Suresh Chandra Rajhans, and Mumbai General Secretary Mahendra Mungekar, along with their supporters and activists, staged the peaceful protest in Kurla. Ms. Gaikwad said, 'While we were peacefully protesting, once again the Modani (Modi and Adani) government had sent a large police force to suppress the voice of the people. What justice is it that the police stopped the peaceful protest with the force of police force? The government is providing security to thieves, but we will not be swayed by this oppression. We will continue to fight against this Adani government for the rights of Mumbai.' She called the transfer of land a part of a 'conspiracy' wherein the plan is to destroy the lives of lakhs of Dharavikars and acquire 600 acres of land in Dharavi, along with Kurla Mother Dairy, saltpans, and Deonar dumping ground land. She alleged government will also seize land parcels in Air India Colony, Bandra Reclamation, Behrampada, and Motilal Nagar without taking the locals into confidence.

'If you look at what we're doing with the Tejas with our 404 engines, we are right in the middle of probably what matters most in that regard. The US and India enjoy a very strong relationship. So we are here, we want to be supportive and are engaged so we possibly can be.'Last month, India announced a long-awaited plan to fast-track the development of an indigenous fifth-generation stealth fighter. The announcement came days after Operation Sindoor against of the most critical components—a high-thrust engine—will likely be developed through a joint venture with a foreign manufacturer. GE will face competition on this from rivals such as Safran and is also stepping up the delivery of jet engines to plane maker Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) for the Tejas Mark-1A fighter, which has been much delayed. 'We are working with the suppliers to ramp their capability. We're making good progress. I just look at April and May of this year compared to where we were in the first quarter—we've seen a double-digit increase in the number of receipts.'IAF chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh recently voiced concerns about delays in the procurement of critical military military programmes and commercial airline sales are increasingly being delayed due to the inability of manufacturers to ramp up production. Culp said that though multiple actions are being taken to lessen the impact, it will be a while before the problem is solved.'We are making a tremendous amount of progress not only in GE but across the industry,' he said. 'But when you look at the demand expectations that only increase every year, we're going to be talking about supply chain for a while. That's just the nature of the challenge where we are in a super cycle.'GE will also look to set up a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility for civilian aircraft engines in India once the volume increases. 'I think that's more a matter of when, as opposed to if,' he said. 'We want to make sure we have the underlying volume in the marketplace that would support those investments.'GE has more than 1,400 engines operating in India, powering both narrow and wide body aircraft and an order book for around 2,500 more. #SelfieWithDaughter: 10 years of rural click that appealed to global audience
On June 9, 2015, the world witnessed the birth of the now-iconic hashtag #SelfieWithDaughter. What started as a local initiative in Bibipur village of Jind district of Haryana, soon managed to capture global attention. Aiming to promote gender equality, the campaign raises awareness about ills, including female foeticide. Now, 10 years later, more than 2 lakh social media posts and thousands of news articles now carry a phrase that didn't exist in headlines before 2015. The movement reshaped conversations on gender -- both online and offline, and resonated so strongly that Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised it in his Mann Ki Baat radio address in July 2015. PM Modi applauded Sunil Jaglan, a young sarpanch and the spirit behind #SelfieWithDaughter. During a conversation with HT, Jaglan said that #SelfieWithDaughter is no longer a campaign, but a social movement and a commitment by society. 'So far, we have taken some bold steps as a foundation for the campaign. We introduced 'Lado Panchayat'. The traditional khap panchayats were male-only councils, and for the first time, women were invited to the table, and the council came together to publicly condemn sex-selective abortion — a powerful shift in a deeply patriarchal setting. We also brought up 'women's happiness charts' to monitor the well-being of females in homes, and created 'Balika Sabha' (girls' assemblies) to give young girls a platform to speak, share and be heard,' he said. Under Sunil as sarpanch, a resolution was also passed to ban the use of abusive language against women that was known as 'Gali band ghar'. 'The campaign gained strong community support and had a significant positive impact — for the first time, such incidents were openly discussed in the gram sabha, and those who used abusive language were held accountable. We have touched every perspective,' he added. Jaglan said that families have now started celebrating their daughters, sharing positive stories and images that brought a sense of unity and optimism in a time of crisis. 'Now people are taking this as a commitment and investing in health, education and financial independence of their daughters. Now, people have started making 'period chart' for the women of their families. So far, two lakh plates with daughter's name have been put outside homes. This is the real result and future of #SelfieWithDaughter,' he said. Despite initiatives like #SelfieWithDaughter and 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' -- that also started from Haryana a decade ago -- the sex ratio at birth still remains a challenge in the state. The sex ratio at birth (SRB) is a critical indicator of gender equality. According to the figures from the Civil Registration System (CRS) up to December 2024, Haryana recorded its lowest sex ratio at birth in eight years in 2024 and registered a six-point drop from figures a year ago. The SRB dipped to 910 female births per 1,000 male births in 2024, a six-points drop from 916 in 2023 and the lowest after 2016, when it stood at 900. Government interventions have been undertaken largely—crackdowns on illegal sex determination clinics, strict enforcement of the PCPNDT Act, authorities have this year seized about 8,800 MTP kits and registered over 50 FIRs, including at least 18 against online sellers of the kits, but a lot still needs to be done. Vijender Singh, an assistant professor with the department of sociology, Kurukshetra University, believes that there has been a lot of awareness regarding equality in the society, but what lacks is enough incentivisation to classes other than lower strata. 'Government needs to expand its incentives in the middle and higher section of the society. These sections are aware with the issues and problems arising out of it, but shy away due to lack of incentives that are limited only to those below a certain income level,' he added.
