Man convicted in ‘unprovoked' Tenderloin sidewalk attack: SF DA
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A man was convicted after trial by jury for an 'unprovoked' attack last summer on a Tenderloin sidewalk that seriously injured another man, announced the San Francisco District Attorney's Office on Friday.

D.A. Brooke Jenkins said Samuel Cox, 46, was 'convicted of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury with an allegation that he personally inflicted great bodily injury on the victim found true.'
According to testimony and evidence presented during the trial, the victim was standing on a sidewalk near Leavenworth and Ellis streets on Aug. 24 at 11:15 p.m. when he was struck from behind in the head with Cox's closed fist. The man collapsed from the blow and hit his head on the concrete. The incident was seen by multiple witnesses who called 911. The victim was taken by medics to San Francisco General Hospital where he suffered from 'serious and significant injuries.'
Cox was arrested by San Francisco police a few weeks later on Sept. 4 on Cyril Magnin Street.
'The jury's verdict delivers justice to the victim in this case who was viciously assaulted in an unprovoked attack,' said D.A. Jenkins in a news release. 'I hope that this verdict brings the victim some closure as he heals from this assault.'
Assistant District Attorney Robert Miranda added, 'Violent crime has no place in any of our communities in San Francisco.'
Cox is currently in custody awaiting sentencing.

Cox is a tragedy for all of us on the Strike team. He was a strong Soldier and leader, who quickly rose through the ranks while serving,' Reim said. The accident remains under investigation after response teams worked together for a week to recover the vehicle from a peat bog, CBS reported. They used specialized equipment to drain water from the side and 'stabilize the ground,' to pull the 70-ton vehicle ashore, the outlet said.

K-9, drone aid in arrests of San Leandro restaurant burglary suspects
(KRON) — Two people were arrested Thursday morning after a reported burglary at a Mexican restaurant in San Leandro, according to police. The San Leandro Police Department responded at 3:18 a.m. to La Pinata on 2699 Merced Street after a security alarm was set off. Arriving officers found suspected burglars still inside the restaurant, authorities said. The Hayward Police Department and Alameda County Sheriff's Office assisted San Leandro officers with the search for the intruders. Authorities deployed a drone and a police K-9 in the area. Two suspects were located and arrested in connection with the burglary. San Leandro PD said there may be more suspects at large. The names of the suspects were not released. Dorchester man arrested on firearm, drug charges following search warrant
A Dorchester man is facing firearm and drug charges after a search warrant was executed. According to Boston police, on Thursday, June 5, around 8:43 a.m., officers were conducting a drug investigation and executing of search warrants in the area of 223 Callender Street in Dorchester. During the search, officers recovered a Taurus 9MM with seven rounds in the magazine, a firearm holster, and. one loose round of ammunition. Police arrested 27-year-old Ronald Cox of Dorchester on multiple firearm and drug-related charges. Drug-related evidence that was recovered was one plastic bag of crack cocaine, six unknown pills, drug packaging material, digital scales, and $667 in U.S. currency. Cox is facing the following charges: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Substance Possession with Intent to Distribute, Subsequent Offense Cox was taken into custody and he is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
