Krishna Janmashtami Puja Vidhi And Aarti Lyrics: The auspicious festival of Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, will be celebrated on August 15 and 16, 2025. Commemorating the birth of the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna, Hindu devotees mark the day with devotion and grandeur. Krishna Janmashtami is observed on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada, as per the Hindu calendar.
According to Drik Panchang, the most sacred part of the celebration, Nishita Puja, which marks the exact time of Lord Krishna's birth, will be held from 12:04 AM to 12:47 AM on August 16.
In Maharashtra and parts of northern India, the Dahi Handi celebration will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, with people creating traditional human pyramids recreating the divine act of stealing butter.
Devotees observing the Janmashtami fast usually break it after midnight, following the Nishita Puja.

Puja should begin with the meditation of Lord Krishna. Meditate in front of the already installed Lord Krishna statue in front of you.
After Dhyana of Lord Krishna, one should chant Avahana Mantra in front of the Murti by joining both palms and folding both thumbs inwards.
After Lord Krishna has been invoked, take five flowers in both hands and leave them in front of the Murti to offer a seat to Shri Krishna.
Following this, wash the feet of the deity's idol and offer water to Shri Krishna from head to toe for the bath while chanting the Krishna Janmashtami Snana Mantra.
Now offer Moli as new clothes, Yajnopavita, jewellery and scent to Shri Krishna.
In the next step, offer various fragrance stuffs to Lord Krishna and then offer flowers.
Now, take Gandha, Akshata and Pushpa in your left hand and leave them near Lord Krishna Murti with your right hand.
Offer Dhupa to Shri Krishna while chanting the following mantra and light the dipak.
Then comes Naivedyam. Offer Naivedya to Shri Krishna, chanting the Krishna Janmashtami Naivedya Mantra.
Now offer Tambula (paan with betel nuts) to Shri Krishna while chanting the Krishna Janmashtami Tambula Mantra.
The next step is offering Dakshina (gift) to Shri Krishna while chanting the Krishna Janmashtami Dakshina Mantra.
Devotees then perform Nirajan (Aarti) to Shri Krishna while chanting the Krishna Janmashtami Mahanirajana Mantra.
Offer symbolic Pradakshina (circumambulation from left to right of Shri Krishna) with flowers and pay homage to Shri Krishna.
After Namaskar, seek pardon from the beloved deity for any mistakes made during Puja.

Kite-related disruptions on metro network fell sharply on I-Day: DMRC
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reported a sharp decline in incidents of kite strings causing malfunction on its network on Independence Day and Janmashtami this year. The transporter attributed the decline to preventive measures and public cooperation. "Incidents of service disruptions caused by kite flying during August have reduced significantly over the years, particularly around Independence Day," it said in a statement. Kite flying during these festivals, especially when done with metal-coated thread, often leads to tripping of overhead wires and delays in train services. According to DMRC, the number of such incidents has steadily reduced over the past few years from 102 in 2021 to 90 in 2022, 33 in 2023, 23 in 2024 and 11 so far this year. To tackle the problem, DMRC said it put in place maintenance teams of five to seven members across all lines. These teams watch out for entangled kite strings, it said. In addition, insulation sleeves on catenary wires at elevated stations, modifying overhead equipment to increase clearance between live and earthed wires, shifting return conductors, and deploying catenary maintenance vehicles during non-operational hours have also led to fewer disruptions, DMRC said. So far, sleeves have been fitted at 20 elevated stations across different corridors, it said. DMRC has also run awareness campaigns cautioning the public against flying kites near the metro's 25,000-volt OHE wires, highlighting the dangers involved.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2025: Here's why you shouldn't sight the moon on Vinayaka Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most important Hindu festivals in India, observed with devotion, joy and discipline. The day marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and bringer of wisdom and prosperity. On this occasion, devotees welcome Lord Ganesha into their homes in the form of clay idols, offering prayers, sweets, and songs of devotion. The 10-day Ganesh Utsav in 2025 will begin on Tuesday, 26th August and will conclude with Ganesh Visarjan (idol immersion) on Saturday, 6th September. In Hinduism, Lord Ganesha is honoured as a symbol of knowledge, good fortune, wisdom and prosperity. It is a common practice to worship him before starting any new journey, business, or important work to seek blessings for success. Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 Start And End Date Moon Sighting on Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 Traditionally, devotees are advised to avoid moon sighting on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. In 2025, the moon should not be seen on 26th August from 1:54 PM to 8:29 PM and 9:28 a.m. to 8:57 p.m on August 27. This belief is rooted in an ancient Hindu legend. The Story Behind Avoiding the Moon Sighting on Ganesh Chaturthi The story goes that Lord Kubera, the god of wealth, once invited Lord Shiva to a grand feast. Lord Shiva did not attend but sent young Ganesha in his place. Ganesha, known for his large appetite, ate all the food prepared and even consumed everything available in Kubera's city. Later that night, while travelling on his mouse, Ganesha was mocked by Chandra (the moon) for his unusual appearance and round belly tied with a serpent. Hurt and angered, Ganesha cursed the moon, saying that anyone who looked at it on Ganesh Chaturthi would face false accusations and humiliation for a year. When the moon apologised, Ganesha reduced the curse to one day only – Ganesh Chaturthi. Since then, devotees avoid looking at the moon during the festival to escape bad luck. This story also teaches the values of humility and respect.
