A deepfake video falsely showing General Dwivedi claiming India lost jets and soldiers in a war against Pakistan is circulating online. The Indian govt confirmed the video is fake.
Days after Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi addressed a gathering at IIT Madras, a deepfake video of his speech is doing rounds on the social media. The AI-generated deepfake video falsely portrays General Dwivedi claiming, 'We have already lost 6 jets and 250 soldiers" in the war against Pakistan.
The Indian government on Tuesday issued a public alert regarding the digitally altered video, saying, 'The video has been artificially altered using AI technology."
Press Information Bureau's fact check unit confirmed that the video is a deepfake — an AI-generated manipulation designed to spread misinformation and create confusion.

Taking to X, the PIB Fact Check wrote, 'DEEPFAKE ALERT! A digitally altered video is circulating online, falsely showing the Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi admitting that India lost 6 jets and 250 soldiers in the war against Pakistan.(sic)."
The bureau categorically denied the authenticity of the video and urged the public not to fall for such manipulated content.
In the post, it also attached the clip of the fake as well as original video for netizens. The post on X further mentioned that the Indian Army Chief has not made any such statement.
'This is an AI-generated deepfake video. The Indian Army Chief has made NO such statement.(sic)," the post further read.
The fact check unit also shared the link of the Army Chief's original speech.
General Dwivedi addressed a gathering at IIT Madras on August 4 during the inauguration of the Indian Army Research Cell. During the event, he said India's next war could be closer than we think and it won't be fought by soldiers alone. He also warned that technology, civil readiness and public participation will be as decisive as military might.
'The next war which we are looking at, it may happen soon. We have to prepare accordingly, and this time we will have to fight this battle together," General Dwivedi said.
Earlier in May, India had launched strikes against Pakistan, in response to Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives on April 22. The operation was named Operation Sindoor.
What Is A Deepfake?
Deepfake videos are fake videos made using artificial intelligence (AI). They use advanced technology to change someone's face or voice in a way that looks and sounds very real. While they are sometimes used for fun or art, more and more people are using them to spread lies and trick others.

Sushmita Sen opens up about meeting Donald Trump while recalling her Miss Universe franchise days: 'He's not...

Sushmita Sen, India's first Miss Universe and a celebrated actor, has recently opened up about a chapter of her life few knew in detail, her time managing the Miss India Universe franchise between 2010 and 2012. Speaking during promotions for her series Aarya, she revealed that the offer came out of the blue. 'The Miss Universe Organisation called me, and said, 'Would you like to take the franchise?' I was like, 'What? Really? That was like a dream!'' she recalled. It was, however, a dream laced with complications. The pageant was then owned by Donald Trump, which she admits 'didn't make it easy or fun.' Was Donald Trump her boss? While Trump was the franchise owner, Sushmita clarified that he was not her direct superior. 'Luckily, the only people who were my boss at that time were Paramount Communications and Madison Square Garden, because they owned Miss Universe when I was an employee of Miss Universe for a year. I was a franchise owner for Donald Trump.' She did meet Trump during that period, but she refused to dwell on him. 'The point is that it doesn't matter,' she said, before adding her candid impression: 'There are some people who leave an impression, not necessarily because of their achievements or power. Just for the people that they are. He is not one of them.' The Trump era of Miss Universe Donald Trump owned the Miss Universe Organisation from 1996 to 2015, a time when he was still best known as a business tycoon and TV personality. He later became the 45th President of the United States in 2017 and, after losing the 2020 election, returned to win the 2024 race, taking office again in January 2025. From Miss Universe to the big screen Sushmita's own Miss Universe win in 1994 was a watershed moment for India, making her the first Indian woman to wear the crown. The victory propelled her into modelling and Bollywood, where she became known for her elegance, wit, and strong screen presence. After a break from acting, she made a celebrated comeback with the series Aarya, followed by Taali, in which she played transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant — a performance that drew critical praise. Sushmita's account of her time with the franchise offers a rare peek into the glamour and grit of beauty pageants, the corporate layers behind them, and the personalities who shaped that world — for better or worse.

Ireland President Strongly Condemns Rising Cases of Racist Attacks Against Indians After Outrage

/ Aug 13, 2025, 01:17PM IST Ireland is facing a wave of outrage after a shocking rise in racist attacks against the Indian community, including the assault of a six-year-old girl by a group of children. Irish President Michael D Higgins issued a powerful condemnation, praising Indians for their immense contribution to the nation in healthcare, culture, and business, and calling the violence 'despicable' and 'un-Irish.' Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris and cricket legend Kevin O'Brien have also spoken out, declaring solidarity with India's diaspora. The Indian Embassy in Dublin has issued an advisory and emergency helpline as hate crimes surge. In the past month alone, multiple brutal assaults on Indians have been reported, sparking fears among the 60,000-strong Indian diaspora. Is Ireland facing a dangerous wave of racism, or can it stand up to hate before it's too late?#ireland #racism #indiansabroad #hatecrime #diaspora #indiancommunity #michaelhiggins #kevinobrien #irelandnews #india #breakingnews #trending #trendingnow #toi #bharat #toibharat #indianews

MK Stalin calls Trump's 50% tariff ‘hegemonic conspiracy', urges PM Modi to oppose

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday described the United States' recent 50 per cent tariff on India as a 'hegemonic conspiracy' and called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to register a strong at an event commemorating late Cuban leader Fidel Castro, whom he described as a 'protector of his country and its people,' Stalin said such conspiracies do not always involve 50 per cent tax imposed by the US on India is one such conspiracy. The BJP ruling at the Centre should strongly oppose this. The Central BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should provide a transparent response,' he said. Stalin questioned why President Donald Trump unilaterally imposed the tariff just before the sixth round of Indo-US trade talks, after five rounds had already taken place. 'Capitalist conspiracy does not rise from war alone. The US imposing a 50 per cent tariff on India is also the same,' he also criticised Modi's silence over Trump's repeated claim that he prevented an India-Pakistan war during Operation Sindoor.'While the opposition raises the matter in both Houses of Parliament, PM Modi has not given any answer. This is his weakness,' Stalin US had last week imposed an additional 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods as a penalty for New Delhi's continued purchase of Russian oil. With this, along with the earlier 25 per cent levy effective from August 7, the total tariff on most Indian goods has reached 50 per cent, barring a small exemption list.- EndsMust Watch IN THIS STORY#Tamil Nadu
