Former McLaren driver Alain Prost returns to the Woking-based team for a one-off event at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed hosts a celebration of motor sport history, displaying cars raced throughout the years.
A variety of people around the sport are allowed to drive them at the event. This year, Prost is returning to racing for a special appearance, coming back to the team where he made history.

McLaren announced the occasion along with a statement from chief operating officer Piers Thynne.
"It's great for McLaren to be back at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It's the perfect occasion to showcase our own heritage alongside our more recent achievements and to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Formula 1," Thynne said.
"30 years on from our victory at Le Mans, it's great to be able to have J.J. Lehto driving the F1 GTR, and it will be special to see Alain Prost drive his 1988 MP4/4.
"It's also fantastic to be able to run the MP4/2B to commemorate 40 years since Alain's first Drivers' Championship victory.
"It's an honor and a privilege to be given the opportunity to drive the M23-15 and showcase the team's hard work and talent.
"To be able to bring such a challenging project to life, involving such a wide range of team members across departments, is a special moment, and is a great way to recognize the team's first Championship win.
"We really enjoy being part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, so we look forward to seeing it all come to life for another year."
Thynne is scheduled to drive the M23.
Goodwood is held in Chichester, England, on July 10 through July 13, holding a walk through memory lane for old and new fans alike.
What is Alain Prost driving?
Prost was the teammate of the legendary Ayrton Senna, one of the most iconic drivers of all time.
Both drivers drove the MP4/4 in 1988, which was the title-winning car that season. The car won 15 of 16 races, dominating the field unlike any car before.
Prost will drive the exact model he used to win at Monaco, France, and Mexico.
Nicholas and Shelley Schorsch of the Audrain Collection own the chassis of the car and are providing it for the special event.

Jordan Spieth Crushes Beers and Wings to Get Over U.S. Open Misery

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. "I didn't eat or drink the way I normally do there," Jordan Spieth said as he arrived in Connecticut for the final PGA Tour Signature Event, the Travelers Championship. Spieth is among a talented field ready to battle for another $20 million purse. The 3-time major winner wasn't talking about a nutrition slip-up mid-tournament—he was referring to his post-U.S. Open decompression session at Buffalo Wild Wings. (Photo by) More Getty Images "Had a few beers Sunday," Spieth admitted. "We were waiting on the Schefflers to come over here, and he [Scottie Scheffler] was after the delay, so I went to Buffalo Wild Wings with Michael [Greller, Spieth's caddie]." The 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont was a brutal test for everyone. Wyndham Clark reportedly frustratedly destroyed a piece of the locker room. Rory McIlroy demolished a tee marker, threw his club a few times and even got sassy with the media. While Spieth did not break any Oakmont property, the 31-year-old entered the final round at 6-over-par, limped to a T23 after carding 2-over par. It came with bogeys on 17 and 18. "Most of the time it's very, very good," Spieth expressed of his usual post-round routine. How did @JordanSpieth unwind after Oakmont? He crushed beers and wings... — Jamie Kennedy (@jamierkennedy) June 18, 2025 "But sometimes post-U.S. Open, I just kind of needed to throw a few back. And then by yesterday I was good. I'm still young enough that it doesn't bother me the next day". Jordan Spieth's Oakmont grind came just weeks after another major letdown At the PGA Championship last month, Spieth's bid to complete the Career Grand Slam fell short again. He missed the cut at Quail Hollow, extending his drought for another year. The 31-year-old has been chasing that elusive Wanamaker Trophy since 2017, and while his game has shown flashes, injuries have complicated the journey. After undergoing wrist surgery in August 2024 to repair a tendon issue that had plagued him since 2018, Spieth returned cautiously in early 2025. His comeback included a strong solo fourth finish at both the WM Phoenix Open and the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. That said, one can not ignore his struggles. Spieth missed cuts at Genesis and finished 59th at The Players. Since that tournament, his worst finish was a T36 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, outside the missed cut at the PGA Championship. Despite the inconsistency, he has remained upbeat. "I'm trying to give myself some time," he said earlier this year after the Charles Schwab Challenge. "Just a lot less guessing, more confidence in what I'm doing, and sticking to it is really what I'm looking forward to." That patience was tested at Oakmont, where he finished nine shots behind champion J.J. Spaun. But if his Buffalo Wild Wings detour is any indication, Spieth is learning to reset quickly. "I woke up this morning and feel ready and fresh," he said Wednesday. "That's what you're looking for. If you can get there by Wednesday morning, we're good to go". Now ranked No. 37 in the FedExCup standings and No. 22 in Ryder Cup points, Spieth is grinding through his 10th event in 12 weeks. The Travelers Championship offers a softer landing after Oakmont's punishment, and while he's not chasing perfection, he's chasing peace. "Sometimes," he said, "you just need to throw a few back." JJ Spaun to be 'Heartbeat' of Team USA at Ryder Cup, per Keegan Bradley

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. There are still 100 days until the Ryder Cup, but conversations about both teams are becoming more and more frequent. It's no surprise that captains are being asked about it at every opportunity, as happened with Keegan Bradley ahead of the Travelers Championship. For now, only Scottie Scheffler is a lock to make the American Ryder Cup team. However, Bradley has already practically confirmed another name on the roster: JJ Spaun. Keegan Bradley of the United States walks off the fifth tee during the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday 2025 at Muirfield Village Golf Club on June 01, 2025 in Dublin, Ohio.... Keegan Bradley of the United States walks off the fifth tee during the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday 2025 at Muirfield Village Golf Club on June 01, 2025 in Dublin, Ohio. MoreAlthough the captain didn't say it was a done deal, his words leave little room for doubt: "I think he [Spaun] is a guy that people at Bethpage will really resonate with and a guy that on our team is the heartbeat," Bradley said. "He's now the U.S. Open champion. That's a heavy burden to bear, but that's also a great thing to have on your team." "I'm really proud to have him on this team because it's really difficult to make your first team. To go out there the way he did this year and play in these big events this well is a testament to what a player he is." Spaun's US Open victory propelled him to third in the rankings to make the American Ryder Cup team. Given the remaining schedule, Spaun has a very high chance of finishing in the top six and directly qualifying for the team. However, based on Bradley's comments, if Spaun doesn't finish in the top six, it's safe to say that his selection as a free pick is a sure thing. Keegan Bradley: "I think going to a course like Bethpage Black, the people are really going to be behind a guy like J.J. Spaun." — Underdog Golf (@UnderdogGolf) June 18, 2025 Bradley offered several reasons for his current opinion of JJ Spaun: "He's played so great this year. I think going to a course like Bethpage Black, the people are really going to be behind a guy like J.J. Spaun." "His story is incredible. He's a hard working guy that's just building and building and building his whole career." "To win the U.S. Open at Oakmont, in my eyes, is the pinnacle of major golf. It's as tough as you can get." Spaun began the 2025 season ranked 115th in the Official World Golf Ranking, but has seen a meteoric rise, thanks primarily to his second-place finish at The Players Championship (losing in a playoff to Rory McIlroy) and his victory at the US Open. These results are complemented by three other top-10 finishes, including another second place (Cognizant Classic). Such performances have catapulted him to No. 8 in the world. Nelly Korda Looking to Tap into Scottie Scheffler at Women's PGA Championship

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. World No. 1s Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler have been golf's parallel forces over the past two seasons, dominating their respective tours with a blend of consistency and calm that's become their shared signature. Both sit atop the world rankings—Korda leads the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings while Scheffler reigns over the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking. If we skim their 2024 winning list, each professional had seven strong winning titles, including a major. Their mirrored success has no doubt continued into 2025 as well, despite a slower start to the season. Nelly Korda looking to tap into Scottie Scheffler at women's PGA Championship. (Image Collage | Picture Cridits: getty Images) Getty Images Nelly Korda draws inspiration from Scottie Scheffler's PGA Championship win To date, the Texas native has three wins this season, including the PGA Championship. On the other hand, Korda has four top-10 finishes in her nine starts but is still grinding to win the first title this season. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler : 3 majors, 15 PGA Tour wins World No. 1 Nelly Korda: 2 majors (going for No. 3 today) , 15 LPGA Tour wins Both have a chance to secure their 16th tour victory today — claire rogers (@kclairerogers) June 1, 2025 Her next battle is at the 2025 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, and the LPGA pro confessed how Scheffler is inspiring her this time. "Yeah, he's just an incredible player, incredible human being, and how consistent he is week in and week out, that's something to look up to, " Korda admitted during her pre-tournament press conference on Tuesday. "He's just so steady," she added. "That's something I've been working on—just staying in my own bubble and trusting the process." Her comments came in response to a question about Scheffler's dominant win at the PGA Championship last month, where he shot 11-under at Quail Hollow to claim his third career major by five strokes. Scheffler's final-round 71 on May 18th was breathtaking. He sealed the deal, capping off a stretch that included birdies on 14 and 15 and a composed finish through the Green Mile. It is interesting to see how Korda and Scheffler each seem to embrace each other's style of play while participating in several TaylorMade videos. The push from the opposite side of the sport is not the only thing motivating her. Korda's runner-up finish at the U.S. Women's Open earlier this month also appears to have reignited her confidence. The 26-year-old skipped the Meijer LPGA Classic, finished T15 at the ShopRite LPGA Classic and now looks to rebound from a missed cut at last year's KPMG Women's PGA. In 2024, she shot 6-over through two rounds. Are you rooting for the World No. 1 this time? Let us know in the comment section below!
