The increase in the number of visitors was accompanied by a growth in the average length of stay, indicating that GCC travellers are spending more time exploring Jordan's diverse attractions.
This trend was especially noticeable during the summer months and major holiday periods, with many visitors choosing to combine multiple destinations within their travel itineraries.
Key source markets for Jordan
According to a report published by WAM, the UAE's state news agency, Saudi Arabia dominated the GCC market, accounting for the largest share of visitors with 1.158 million overnight arrivals in 2024. This represents a 17 per cent increase from 985,904 visitors in 2023. The summer months of July and August saw the highest levels of Saudi arrivals, with 156,400 visitors in July and 141,007 in August, showcasing a strong preference for Jordan as a summer travel destination.
The data also reveals a steady rise in the total number of GCC visitors during the summer months over the past three years. In July 2024, the number of visitors from the GCC reached 172,494, up from 146,474 in July 2023. In August, the number increased from 165,593 visitors in 2023 to 167,031 in 2024.
Kuwait remained the second-largest GCC source market, contributing 72,784 visitors in 2024.
The UAE also saw growth, with 18,378 visitors, an 11 per cent increase from the previous year. Qatar contributed 16,081 visitors, while Bahrain and Oman saw 34,309 and 22,716 visitors, respectively. Oman experienced a particularly strong growth rate of 12 per cent compared to the previous year, the report stated.

RIYADH — The Ministry of Interior's electronic platform "Absher" carried out 43,439,206 electronic transactions for beneficiaries during the last month of July. The number of transactions undertaken through the Absher Individuals platform reached 40,650,713, including 33,387,591 document reviews through the digital wallet available to citizens, residents, and visitors. The number of transactions completed through the Absher Business platform reached 2,788,493. The number of transactions related to the General Directorate of Public Security services reached 3,679,429, including 3,586,290 transactions at the General Department of Traffic, 2,769,794 transactions at the General Directorate of Passports, and 664,096 transactions at the Ministry of Interior's Civil Status Agency. Through the public services on the Absher Individuals platform, 146,212 reports were issued in the Absher Reports service, 3,591 requests for document delivery by mail, and 2,287 general inquiries about fingerprints were made. It is noteworthy that the number of unified digital identities issued by the Ministry of Interior through the Absher platform has exceeded 28 million. Ministry of Education announces full readiness for academic year 2025-2026, removes centralised tests at end of second semester
19 Aug 2025 18:54 ABU DHABI (WAM) The Ministry of Education (MoE), in cooperation with the UAE Government Media Office, held a media briefing in the presence of Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of Education, to outline its key preparations and development plans for the academic year 2025–2026, in line with national briefing was also attended by Mohammed Al Qassim, Under-Secretary of MoE; Sulaiman Al Kaabi, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Professional Development Sector; and Amna Al Saleh, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for the Curriculum and Assessment Sector, along with representatives of local media Amiri confirmed that since January, the MoE has been developing proactive plans to ensure public schools' readiness for the academic year 2025–2026, covering all aspects from facilities to advanced curricula. She noted that this year will introduce qualitative updates to boost the competitiveness of national education, including fundamental changes to the assessment tests at the end of the second semester have been removed and replaced with school-based summative assessments, with centralised tests remaining only in the first and third semesters. The new system optimises school days, diversifies student performance assessment tools, enhances learning quality and teaching methods, promotes student wellbeing and adjusts semester weights in line with the updated Amiri highlighted the approval of the second phase of the project-based learning and assessment (PBLA) system, now covering all Cycle 2 students in public and private schools applying the MoE follows the success of phase one, which engaged 127,500 students across 350 also noted the development of the national testing system through a new standardised proficiency test to measure Arabic, English and mathematics skills for grades 4–11 in public schools, with the first phase expected to include 26,000 Amiri reiterated the Ministry's focus on strengthening national identity through Arabic language and Islamic education as the foundation of student character.
