Coronation Street fans say 'please no' as they 'figure out' sinister Gary twist
Fans of Coronation Street are convinced there's a new plot ahead for Garry Windass after a worrying scene.
The character was left in a coma for two weeks after being attacked by Lou Michaelis amid a blackmail storyline. When he woke up, it emerged Lou had faked his identity and her own to stop his family finding out what had happened, trying to cover her tracks.
Maria Connor eventually located her husband at the hospital and he's since been discharged. But scenes earlier this week left fans sure there was a sinister twist on the way.
Other fans believed a mental health based storyline could be on the cards, after his past experiences with PTSD. Gary was speaking to Maria where he opened up to his wife about the impact of the attack.
He then claimed he'd felt as though he'd been letting people walk all over him for too long. Maria shut the chat down though, and questioned who he meant, denying this was the case.

Gary was frustrated though and told Maria to forget it, fleeing. But it was clear it was weighing on his mind, and that he wasn't going to be the nice guy anymore - while he's still covering up the fact he killed Rick Neelan, caused the death of Rana Habeeb and his dodgy dealings led to the deadly siege that led to two deaths in 2019.
While Gary has been on the right path of late with fans commenting on his dark secrets not coming to light, it seems Gary could be about to head back to his old ways. Viewers were sure "evil Gary" was looming, with fans saying "please no".
Taking to social media one fan said: "Psycho Gary coming soon," as another posted: "Please no evil Gary again." A third fan commented the same saying: "Oooh evil Gary is coming back."
A further post read: "I think it's shook him up a bit and he thinks he's not the tough guy he once was as he's settled down with nice wife, nice house etc. He'll be hard man Gary soon."
Other fans believed the soap was headed for a PTSD storyline with the character, or perhaps anxiety after the attack. Gary has suffered with the condition in the past, with fans wondering if the attack would trigger it.
A viewer questioned: "I wonder if Gary's PTSD is returning?" Another viewer agreed: "I can see Gary going to have PTSD after his attack," while a further post read: "Gary having an episode - stress anxiety?"

ITV Coronation Street star shares emotional tribute after colleague's sad death
Antony Cotton has paid tribute to his former colleague Matthew Owens after he passed away aged 38, who worked on the set of the popular soap. Coronation Street actor Antony Cotton has paid a heartfelt tribute to his colleague Matthew Owens, 38, who sadly passed away. Matthew worked on the set of the ITV soap as a fire safety advisor and other BBC programmes. Antony, who is famed for his role as Sean Tully, took to social media to share a tribute to honour his pal. Alongside a photo from the order of service from the funeral, which confirmed Matthew passed away earlier this month on July 7, the actor wrote a touching tribute. He said on Instagram: "Today was a very hard day for so many people, especially Matt's family. I still can't quite get my head round it, to be honest. Matt was just a really, really nice lad. We met when he did the fire safety for a stunt block at Coronation Street, 13 years ago and we've been friends ever since. "He was a much-loved son, brother, dad, colleague and partner. He was also a quiet and humble, solid friend. I'll miss hearing from you Matt, out of the blue sometimes, but always with a smile. You are at rest now, no more worries, Matty Boy." Fans and friends rushed to the comments section to honour Matthew as reported by the Mirror, with one user posting: "Sorry for your loss mate. Condolences to his friends and family." One person who had attended the funeral added, "I did the funeral today, I was one of the family limo drivers, I saw how sad you were, gave you a little smile, very emotional day. So many people attended, you could tell he was very loved." Another fan wrote: "Just reading this news, I didn't know Matt had passed, really sad news. He was always so helpful and a joy to work with, helped me out lots with projects. Sending love to his family." Matthew leaves behind his partner Amy and his young son Freddie, 11. In an emotional tribute to the late firefighter, fire stations throughout Staffordshire put their flags up at half-mast. He served as a fireman at Cannock Fire Station. The Corrie set-worker also ran a company that supplied fire safety training, extras and props to the BBC and ITV. In 2013, he worked on setting the iconic Rovers Return pub ablaze. In the dramatic storyline, the pub blaze left Stella Price and Sunita Alahan trapped, whilst Karl abandoned Sunita in the cellar to perish. Matthew also even coached Corrie actor Tony Hirst on how to perform a fireman's lift for the harrowing scenes. Stella made it out alive and was rushed to hospital, however Karl later killed her when he removed her breathing equipment so she couldn't disclose who started the blaze. Matthew previously remarked about working on set: "It's all a bit surreal being there on the set and on camera. At one point we were standing outside The Rovers Return, just watching it burn. "Normally as firefighters, we'd get to the scene and be putting the fire out. It was unreal just watching the fire, especially at such an iconic pub. "It was a hard three weeks working on the set, we were there from February 11 to last Tuesday. The first week we were working all night, from 3pm to 5am. The second week was all days, doing inside shots and the last week tidying bits up."

Just two weeks ago, 26-year-old Evan Thomson from Aberdeen suffered a similar fate at the same venue on July 7. Ice hockey player Gary wore the number 45 jersey for Dundee Stars of two occasions for the team during the 2024-25 season. The club made an announcement today which announced the retirement of his shirt number. One of his teammates opted to change his number for the upcoming season from 45 to 72. In a social media post, the club stated: "As a mark of respect, Dominick Jaglar has opted to change his number for the upcoming season from 45 to 72 "45 was the number Gary Kelly wore on two occasions, making his Elite league debut for his hometown team the Dundee Stars in 2024-25." Flowers, pictures and team tops have been left in tribute outside the Dundee Ice Arena with the club thanking those who had done so. Following the deaths of the two Scots holidaymakers, Ibiza Rocks has suspended all party events at the resort. Police have not yet confirmed whether Gary had been drinking or taking drugs before the fall. Scottish Tourist's Tragic Fall in Ibiza: Community in Mourning We previously told how Gary's grieving girlfriend, Louise Essery, paid tribute to her partner, saying: 'The memories we made will stay with me forever. I miss you so much already.' And his devastated older sister Kharis Kelly said: "Our hearts are shattered beyond words." His other sister Paige Kelly wrote: "I love you so much Gary, and I'll look after everyone for you. Forever in my heart, my brother—I'll never forget you." Ice hockey star Gary played for both Dundee Stars and Aberdeen Lynx last season. A GoFundMe page has already raised thousands of pounds to support his grieving family. It reads: 'We are all feeling the loss of young Gary Kelly. And I know you can't put a price on life. But hopefully, we can help the family through this as a nicer young man and family you would struggle to find.' 6 Ice hockey star Gary played for both Dundee Stars and Aberdeen Lynx last season Credit: Facebook 6 Police on the Balearic party island have now launched an investigation into Gary's death Credit: Facebook A statement from John Colley, Chairman of Scottish Ice Hockey and Aberdeen Lynx, reads: "The entire hockey community is still coming to terms with the devastating loss of Gary Kelly. "Gary was a young man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met — not just through his incredible talent on the ice, but through his warmth, generosity, and infectious charisma. He was someone who always gave freely of his time, supported those around him, and brought people together. "In a sport like ours, where players begin young and grow up travelling the length and breadth of the country together, strong bonds are formed — bonds that go beyond teams and clubs. We are a hockey family, and Gary was a cherished part of that family. His absence will be felt deeply — not just in Aberdeen, but across the Scottish hockey community and further afield. "Above all, Gary valued family — both his own and the wider hockey family. As we reflect on the joy and impact he brought to so many, we want to come together to honour his memory and the legacy he leaves behind. "On behalf of Scottish Ice Hockey and Aberdeen Lynx, we respectfully ask for privacy for Gary's loved ones at this time." Police on the Balearic party island have now launched an investigation into Gary's death. The Civil Guard confirmed: "We are investigating the death of a 19-year-old British man at a hotel in San Antonio in Ibiza. "The alarm was raised around 12.40am this morning. 6 26-year-old Evan Thomson from Aberdeen suffered a similar fate at the same venue on July 7 "Our officers were sent to the scene but the man in question was already dead by the time help arrived. "The fall was from from the third floor of the hotel to an outside part of the complex. "Court officials authorised the removal of his body at 2.40am this morning. "The fall could be accidental based on the early information obtained from cameras but as part of the investigation possible witnesses will need to be located and interviewed. "The results of the post-mortem will also be important to the investigation.' A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office said: 'We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.'

Scroll down to find out how the schedule has changed schedule shake-up EastEnders cancelled TONIGHT as sports schedule chaos hits the soaps again Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) EASTENDERS is cancelled tonight due to a schedule shake-up with sports fixtures. Fans of the BBC soap usually tune in to watch at 7.30pm on Monday through Thursday. BBC One is showing coverage of the Germany vs Spain Women's UEFA Euro semi-final. Match of the Day begins at 7.30pm and will be airing until 10.10pm tonight. It will be followed by the BBC News at 10 bulletin. Four episodes a week of the long-running soap opera are shown on terrestrial TV. However, extended sports coverage has meant that bosses were forced to make sweeping changes to the schedule. Previously, EastEnders episodes were shown to viewers early on iPlayer due to coverage of the 2025 Wimbledon tennis tournament. On Monday, dedicated fans instead received a double bill of EastEnders. These instalments saw much-loved Nigel Bates return to Walford - after he previously left in emotional scenes. Played by Paul Bradley, the 90s favourite returned to the square last year after a 26-year absence. EastEnders legend makes a shock return just days after quitting Walford It was soon revealed Nigel is battling early onset dementia - with childhood friend Phil Mitchell taking care of him over the next few months. A concerned Jay Brown contacted Nigel's wife, Julie (Karen Henthorn) - who'd had no idea where he was. Karen reprised her role following more than two decades away - and a brief voice cameo earlier this year. After an emotional farewell, Julie took Nigel from Walford, intending to return to their home in Scotland. Darkest soap storylines Over the years the likes of EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock... EastEnders: Tony grooming Whitney (2008-2009) - Tony King first appeared in Albert Square in 2008 as the boyfriend of Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer. But it was quickly revealed he was a paedophile who had been grooming vulnerable Whitney, Bianca's adopted stepdaughter from a previous relationship, since she was 12. The shocking storyline attracted more than 200 complaints within a week of it beginning. Whitney waited until her 16th birthday to reveal the truth to a horrified Bianca, who called the police. Emmerdale: Holly's drug addiction and shock death (2010-2016) - In 2010, Holly Barton (played by Sophie Powles) became Emmerdale's first teenage drug addict. The shocking storyline saw her taking cocaine on a night out before developing a deadly heroin habit. Parents John and Moira desperately tried to help get their daughter clean but when Holly returned in 2016, following a four-year absence, she quickly relapsed. Fans were left stunned and heartbroken when distraught Moira found Holly dead in her bed from a heroin overdose. Hollyoaks: Luke's rape (2000) - Actor Gary Lucy was just 17 when he took on this groundbreaking storyline, which saw his character Luke Morgan become soap's first male rape victim. Luke had endured a long-running bullying campaign by football rival Mark Gibbs - who raped him after Luke stood up to him. Luke was left suicidal following the brutal attack, before opening up to his brother Adam. Gibbs was sentenced to eight years in prison. Gary won the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards in 2000 for his performance. Coronation Street: Evil Richard Hillman (2001-2003) - Just a mere mention of 'Richard Hillman' is enough to send a shiver down the spines of soap fans. He is often ranked one of the most evil soap villains and it's not hard to see why. The smooth-talking financial adviser bashed his ex-wife Patricia over the head with a shovel. In a bid to keep his mother-in-law Audrey quiet, he set fire to her house. And when Maxine caught him trying to murder Emily Bishop, he took a crowbar to her head. He made his exit from the cobbles in 2003 when he drove Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, and her family into the canal. They survived, but he didn't. However, things took a frightening turn when he ran off during the journey. With the couple back in Albert Square, Phil proposed that all three live together - to help Nigel. But will they all be able to co-exist under one roof? EastEnders airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
