Record-breaking Japan striker 'King Kazu' plays at 58
Former international Miura, fondly known as "King Kazu", is the oldest professional in Japan and almost certainly beyond.
He came on as an 82nd-minute substitute for Atletico Suzuka Club on Sunday and helped them seal a 2-1 win in the Japan Football League.
Miura, one of Asia's best-known footballers in the 1990s, did not score but told reporters he was "glad I was able to contribute" after his cameo aged 58 years and 109 days.
"Thanks to help from my teammates and trainers, I've been able to make it this far. Now I want to raise my game even more," said.
Miura returned to Japan last year after two seasons with Portuguese second-division outfit Oliveirense, where he made nine appearances on loan from Yokohama FC.
He made his debut in 1986 with Brazilian side Santos and has also played in Italy, Croatia and Australia.
The forward helped put football in Japan on the map when the professional J-League was launched in 1993.
He made his Japan debut in 1990 but was famously left out of the squad for their first World Cup finals appearance in 1998, despite scoring 55 goals in 89 games for the national side.

A maiden ODI five wicket haul for left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj helped South Africa to a crushing victory in the opening match of their series against Australia on Tuesday. Maharaj, looking to impress the selectors with an eye on still playing in next year's T20 World Cup, picked up 5/33, bamboozling the Australian batters, who didn't look like they'd seen left-arm spin before. The home team were bowled out for 198 in the 41st over, handing the Proteas a 98-run win and a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Thanks to half-centuries from Aiden Markram, Matthew Breetzke and skipper Temba Bavuma, South Africa reached 296/8, a solid total but one Markram, who top scored with 82, felt short of the 320 he believed was achievable after Mitchell Marsh put them in to bat. Labuschagne, who has been working hard on his technique with the goal of cracking the starting team for the first Ashes Test, missed a delivery that turned sharply from the line of leg-stump. 'I was just trying to use the conditions, which were a bit sticky with the new ball, and we got rewarded,' said Maharaj. With the exception of Marsh, who made 88, the rest of the Australian top and middle order were mesmerised by Maharaj, whose control of length and line was exquisite. Markram's 82 off 81 balls that included nine fours was an innings packed with elegant shot-making and gave the Proteas innings the initiative at the start. Markram's frustration at dismissal — edging a wide delivery from Ben Dwarshuis to Josh Inglis — was understandable given how controlled he looked and it was ultimately one of the primary reasons behind South Africa failing to reach 300. 'I wanted heaps more,' Markram said in an interview during the innings break. 'I was starting to find my rhythm and then got out.' Playing his first match since the World Test Championship final, Bavuma struggled with his timing initially and with Markram's dismissal was also cautious at the start of his partnership with Breetzke. With Heinrich Klaasen (retired) and David Miller not picked, the next few series will be important for Breetzke to establish himself in the ODI side. After making 150 on debut in Pakistan and 83 in his second match, Tuesday's 57 off 56 balls that included one of just three sixes in the South African innings was another tick next to his name. Breetzke's partnership of 92 with Bavuma provided the foundation for a late innings surge, but that didn't materialise in the manner South Africa has managed in the past few years. Bavuma hit five fours in his innings of 65, which came off 74 balls and will be pleased with his first outing since Lord's, a period in which he also recovered from a hamstring injury. After Maharaj completed his spell, South Africa let the game drift with Marsh and Dwarshuis adding 71 runs for the seventh wicket. But Burger returned and bowled a smart spell, mixing pace and length, and dismissed both batters to put a seal on an efficient performance. With Kagiso Rabada ruled out of the series due to inflammation of his right ankle, Burger's good form in that second spell will provide confidence for the rest of the series. The 30-year-old Rabada underwent a scan on Monday which confirmed the extent of the injury and he will remain in Australia and undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the Proteas medical staff.

BREAKING: Kaizer Chiefs announces new striker
Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of new striker Etiosa Ighodaro. The 24-year-old Nigerian forward scored five goals in 25 matches last season for AmaZulu. He was on loan to the KZN-based side from Mamelodi Sundowns. In recent weeks, the striker has been linked to Kaizer Chiefs after his loan spell ended at AmaZulu. On Tuesday morning, Amakhosi announced that the Nigerian forward was their eighth signing of the season. 'Kaizer Chiefs have acquired the services of another striker, Etiosa Ighodaro. We would like to welcome him to the Kaizer Chiefs Family!' the club said in a statement. In July, the Soweto giants signed another striker, Flavio Silva. The 29-year-old Portuguese has yet to play an official match but did impress during Amakhosi's Toyota Cup match against Asante Kotoko. Mapimpi called into injury-hit Boks squad
The Boks suffered a number of injuries during their shock 38-22 defeat by Australia at Ellis Park on Saturday. Double World Cup winner Makazole Mapimpi has been called into the Springbok squad for Saturday's Rugby Championship Test against Australia in Cape Town. The experienced winger comes in because Kurt-Lee Arendse is injured (knee), while Edwill van der Merwe is also nursing an ankle niggle. Another wing, Cheslin Kolbe, missed last weekend's Test in Joburg because of a problem, but is expected to be back in action this weekend. Also, the Boks have suffered a big injury blow with captain Siya Kolisi being ruled out of action, for up to four weeks, following last Saturday's 38-22 defeat by the Wallabies at Ellis Park. Kolisi and Arendse have been released from the Bok squad. Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has, however, resisted calling up a player to replace Kolisi as he feels there is enough cover at loose forward. Two-time World Rugby Player of the Year Pieter-Steph du Toit is also injured and will not play on Saturday. Erasmus is expected to name his team for Saturday's match around mid-day on Tuesday. The Bok boss revealed earlier in the day on Monday that centre Jesse Kriel would captain the Boks this weekend.
