One Piece creator hypes up Tony Tony Chopper in live action season 2 reveal
Eiichiro Oda breaks silence with exciting new message as One Piece Live Action gears up for its big return on Netflix Even if you don't believe you've seen any anime, you've definitely heard the name One Piece — the best-selling manga series in history. Creatively conceived by Japanese artist Eiichiro Oda, this legendary adventure epic centers around a young, free-spirited pirate named Monkey D. Luffy and his quirky, mad-cap crew—the Straw Hat Pirates—as they chase after their world's mythical boondoggle known as the One Piece. In 2023, Netflix kicked off the anime-to-live-action tradition with a bang by bringing the highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of One Piece to the world—an incredibly-joyful, action-packed, swashbuckling adventure of a show. Season 2 is on the horizon and per the show's creator, we could be in for a real surprise. Eiichiro Oda speaks out: 'Check out Chopper !' Production I.G/Netflix One Piece fans were treated to a legendary surprise this weekend, with none other than Tony Tony Chopper—aka the best character from the long-running anime—officially teased for Season 2. You can view that new trailer below! Shortly after that reveal dropped, One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda sent out a special direct message to fans around the world, praising the team's work and urging all of you to take a look at Chopper's new form. Here's what Oda had to say in his farewell message posted on the website. The live-action ONE PIECE that everyone loves! The heart of Season 2 though, is naturally, our weird, furry, little individualistic mascot. After many, many months of experimentation and celebration with lots of constant drumroll and cheering from the entire engine room, the more time it takes than you thought!! From his anatomical structure and pelt, down to his mouth movements and vocalization, lighting and gravity simulation, an international dream team brought their artistry and innovation to concepting and developing Tony Tony Chopper, and he's finally poised to introduce himself to the globe! Just look at him though!!' Eiichiro Oda, creator of ONE PIECE This only serves to illustrate the level of care that was taken bringing Chopper to live-action. From the CGI and character design to realistic movement and lighting, the crew clearly understood they were working on a massive technical challenge and you can sense their pride in the outcome. Who is Tony Tony Chopper in One Piece? If you're new to the Chopper Chronicles, Chopper is an unfortunate reindeer who, after munching on a mystical fruit, finds himself able to transform into a human and speak. Surprise surprise, hidden under his childlike wonder and cute appearance is a major reason that makes the Straw Hat Pirates' doctor so adorable yet deadly. In the anime and manga, Chopper's an extremely emotive character with a very tragic backstory, and we were all, as a fandom, super excited to see how the live-action team would translate Chopper into their world. From what we've seen so far, it looks like they've succeeded, packed with high-flying choreography, CGI, and voice acting that would impress Oda-sensei himself. When will One Piece live action season 2 be released on Netflix? The show One Piece season 2 is officially in the works. Netflix has already greenlit One Piece Live Action Season 2 for production. It will be given full release until 2026. Trust me, this sad resignation came after I, among other rabid and hopeful fans, held hope for a 2025 premiere, but that extra time is surely not with CGI for characters like Chopper to be perfected. While there is no official release date announced yet, the 2026 release window is accordingly cast in stone. One Piece live action: Where to watch If you missed it the first time around, or want to catch up before season two rolls out, now's your best chance to listen. One Piece Live Action Season 1 streaming now exclusively on Netflix. The new series, a Netflix produced, live action adaptation of the beloved franchise, consists of eight episodes chronicling Luffy's journey to form his ragtag band of pirate misfits and go on a whole new adventure across the Grand Line Sea. Season 2 will broadcast this fall on Netflix internationally, including in the U.S. and U.K. Why Chopper's reveal is a game-changer Chopper isn't just a new character though, he's a massive milestone for the series. His arrival heralds that the series is going full bore into the Drum Island Arc, which is perhaps the most emotionally moving and lushly illustrated storyline ever seen in One Piece. In the 17 th story arc, Alabasta, the Straw Hats arrive in a snow-clad island state ruled by a totalitarian tyrant. It's in Sid's that they first encounter Chopper, learning their astromech droid companion's equally tragic backstory. As they develop this tale for a modern audience, tone and visuals will be the series' biggest challenge and their best chance at success. More characters coming in season 2 In addition to Chopper, the new characters we'll be meeting on the arc will be Dr. Kureha, a mysterious doctor who trains Chopper, and Wapol, the arc's main antagonist. Casting announcements for these seven characters and more haven't been made public yet. Anticipation could hardly be higher. According to recent reports, Netflix is spending even more money on Season 2, on visual effects, casting and location shooting. One Piece live action season 2 has big shoes to fill Fresh off the heels of Season 1's enormous success — It was number one in more than 80 different countries! One Piece Live Action is feeling the heat this go-round. With exciting new additions such as Chopper and arcs such as the Zephyr arc becoming more emotionally impactful and intense, Season 2 has the opportunity to be even greater than the first. With Eiichiro Oda closely involved still, Netflix tossing a massive production budget at the endeavor, and viewers clamoring to find out what comes next, One Piece Live Action Season 2 is already one of the most highly-anticipated streaming releases of 2026. Every time Zoro gets lost in One Piece (And why fans love it)
In the high stakes world of One Piece, Roronoa Zoro is legendary as a feared Swordsman Supreme, a staunch loyal lieutenant to Luffy, and one of the most dangerous Straw Hat Pirates to ever sail the Grand Line. As great a warrior as he is, there's one thing he can't master—his confusing sense of direction! It's transformed into one of the most beloved, running jokes within the entire series. No matter the story, no matter the place, if Zoro is ever on his own for a second, he's going to get lost. From traveling the opposite direction on a direct route, to scaling buildings due to misreading his compass, Zoro's navigational blunders are always hilarious. Here's our definitive count of every time Zoro got lost in the anime, showing that he really is directionally challenged. 1. Lost at sea (East blue saga) Shortly after joining Luffy, Zoro departs on a rickety dingy with no navigator. Unsurprisingly, the two continue to flounder until they meet Nami. This would be the first of many clues that Zoro's internal compass is irreparably off kilter. 2. The little garden hunting competition In the midst of the Little Garden arc, Zoro and Sanji engage in a competition to see who can hunt the biggest prey. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Encontre voos low-cost Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo Zoro promptly gets lost in the jungle, walks in circles, and keeps walking past the same tree without realizing it. 3. Snowstorm training gone wrong (Drum island arc) During his extreme training of swimming in frozen oceans, Zoro gets lost in a blizzard, causing him to accidentally get stuck in an avalanche. Not only does he get lost—he almost dies of exposure. 4. The alabasta mix-ups Alabasta is arguably one of Zoro's most head-scratching arcs. First, he runs the wrong way when a critical flare is launched while searching for the bomb to defuse. Soon he finds himself venturing beyond the city walls altogether. In an even worse moment, even the Marines feel sorry for him and point him back in the direction of his home town. 5. "North" means up? In pursuit of a new target, Zoro receives instructions to travel up north. Rather than orient himself with a compass, he gambles that 'north' means 'up'—and scales the exterior of a skyscraper. Even the Straw Hats are confused. 6. The sky island snake loop (Skypeia arc) After being separated in the Upper Yard, Zoro's team gets eaten by a massive snake. Once they break out, wouldn't you know it, Zoro is able to stumble his way back directly to the same spot, none the wiser. 7. A bird literally carries him away Later in Skypeia, Zoro is forced to anger a gigantic skybird, engage it in combat and through what I can only imagine as a scene of comedic poetic justice, gets picked up and carried off through the skies. He was indeed attempting to walk a straight line before this kicked in. 8. The G8 base filler arc My favorite example is when Zoro gets arrested in the G8 Marine base simply because he was unable to find the secret hiding place that everyone else was able to locate. In the face of overwhelming danger, he makes it to the surface—all while strolling through underwater enemy territory, searching for his fellow crewmates. 9. Leading a group into a trap Even as they're fleeing the G8, Zoro refuses to consult a map or admit that he's lost. Usopp tells him not to take charge of the team and lo and behold, Zoro immediately leads them right into a Marine trap. 10. Davy back disaster In a 'Red Light, Green Light' style game in which everybody freezes mid-movement except one player, Zoro ends up walking the opposite direction down a totally clear path. His bad call leaves the Straw Hats in a tough spot going into the Davy Back Fight. 11. Stuck in a chimney (Water 7 arc) After going missing after the battle, Zoro is later discovered trapped upside down in a chimney. At first, Chopper even thinks his legs are some kind of sea monster! 12. Wrong way in enies lobby On one of the most notable missions in Enies Lobby, Nami instructs Zoro to go upstairs. Of course, he bolts down the stairs. Now it's up to Chopper to get him back on track before he bolts off in the wrong direction yet again. 13. Running in circles on water 7 Bound to alert the crew to approaching Marines, Zoro circles back to the same plaza four times. Finally, one benevolent citizen stops and takes pity, rescuing him before he goes sliding off course. 14. Lost on a shopping trip When on a brief vacation, Zoro goes missing after a shopping trip. Next, he miraculously finds himself loaded into a dead-end alley nowhere near where the crew is working. 15. Left behind on an iceberg (Post-Enies lobby) As Zoro takes his eye off the ball, cutting apart icebergs to make way for the ship, Zoro gets distracted. His crew abandons ship, leaving him to live alone on a drifting, freezer-sized hunk of ice. 16. Grove number confusion (Sabaody archipelago) Zoro, meanwhile, is instructed to make his way to the crew's temporary base of operations at Grove 41. He looks at Grove 1 and thinks it is the right one, despite the big red bubble covering the true value. 17. Stuck in a castle (Kuraigana island) Once Mihawk's training starts, Zoro spends hours wandering Perona's spooky castle in search of his lost swords. She is forced to stop him after he walks by the same rooms several times. 18. Walking in circles after time skip Once he's rescued his prized swords, Zoro sets out to find his own way around the strange island. He eventually comes back—mad as hell—under the assumption that nobody was sent to look for him at all. As it turned out, he had been going around the outside of the castle all along. 19. Mistakes a pirate ship for the sunny Zoro takes a snooze on what he believes to be the Thousand Sunny. In reality, it is the pirate ship of the Seven Seas, a boat used for illegal fishing. By the time he gets out of bed, they're well on their way in the other direction. 20. Running from poison gas (Punk hazard) While fleeing alongside Tashigi, Zoro constantly gets lost. Through some lucky coincidence, he's on pace to finish long before the rest of the team. 21. Dressrosa sword chase fail In search of his stolen sword, Zoro pursues a miniature human called Wicca. With explicit guidance, somehow he still gets turned around and arrives too late to the first battle. 22. Lost during wood chopping (Zou arc) Tasked with aiding the reconstruction of the Mink Tribe's capital city, Zoro disappears into the forest while gathering firewood. Nami later discovers him… cutting down the same tree repeatedly. Why fans love this gag Zoro's inability to ever figure out where to go is one of One Piece's longest running, side-splitting gags and biggest visual gags. It's the ideal complement to his coldly murderous demeanor. Whether he's battling foes with three blades or scaling a mountain side because he heard "north" was up, Zoro never fails to bring the fun. Even the character's creator, Eiichiro Oda, has admitted to this character flaw in both interviews and fanbooks. It's a wonderful, yet subtle, character touch that adds humor, warmth and unpredictability to an otherwise stoic warrior. So even though Zoro may be the crew's greatest warrior, whatever you do, don't let him guide you on your journey. One Piece: Oda confirms Luffy needs a new power-up stronger than Gear 5 and conqueror's haki
The Final Saga kicks into gear, the Straw Hat captain will have to contend with his most formidable opponent yet—Imu, a god-like king even more powerful than Kaido. One Piece's world is on the brink of its largest climax yet. After more than 25 years of piracy, the saga is entering its Final Saga after all this time, and creator Eiichiro Oda is doing all he can to ensure fans know what's really at stake. In another significant spoiler, Oda admitted that even with the immense powers of Luffy's Gear 5 and his advanced Haki, he will require an even more unrealized potential to beat the order's ultimate villain Imu. One Piece is an internationally beloved, record-breaking manga and anime franchise about the adventures of Luffy, a boy whose body has turned into rubber and who dreams of becoming King of the Pirates. To stay competitive with villains that have come before him, Luffy has been given new powerful transformations and fighting styles, becoming more powerful in every story arc. In this Final Saga, even his strongest forms might not be enough. Luffy reached Yonko-level in wano, but that's still not enough During the Wano Country arc, Luffy was able to take full advantage of Gear 5 once his Devil Fruit had awoken. This transformation provided him with almost cartoon-like liberties in combat, enabling him to contort, extend, and otherwise manipulate the field of play to suit his preferences. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Encontre voos low-cost Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo On top of this, he developed the ability to coat his strikes in Conqueror's Haki, a special kind of spiritual energy only the most powerful characters can master. 'This is my peak! This is Gear 5!' — Monkey D. Luffy During the Wano arc of One Piece, he uses these powers to defeat Kaido, the world's strongest creature. With that victory, Luffy became a Yonko himself. He is one of the four empire-building pirates calling the shots in the New World. Now, a much larger menace has come: Imu, the true lord of the world. Imu's power is beyond anything we've seen before When it comes to the main villain of One Piece, I do believe that Imu is almost unlike any other villain fans have gotten in this series. Imu's first major appearance came during the Wano arc earlier this year, in which he's revealed to control the World Government from the shadows and has lived for centuries, perhaps even since the Void Century. In Chapter 1149, fans were treated to a first-hand account of Imu releasing unimaginable powers, all the while manipulating a creature called Gunko. Not only is Imu physically powerful, they possess Conqueror's Haki, can (as we've discussed here) grant others immortality, and might even share powers with the Five Elders—who have all become powerful yokai thanks to dark abilities. 'Allow Mu to show thee the dominance of a God!' — Imu Additionally, it's implied that Imu's powers go beyond the physical and influence the soul, rendering them virtually immune to defeat by outside force. Even Joy Boy, a mythical hero credited with being even stronger than current Luffy, might not have been able to defeat Imu in the past. Gear 5 and haki aren't enough to win the final war If Luffy's ever going to achieve victory, he'll require a lot more than just Gear 5 and Conqueror's Haki. Based on these theories and recent developments as well as Oda's foreshadowing, it seems like Luffy will need to learn or discover new techniques that can affect the soul in order to harm or defeat Imu. This might mean: Mastering Gear 5 deeper, unlocking potential With Mastering Gear 5 deeper, tapping into various new abilities. Better still would be perfecting all three varieties of Haki, namely Observation, Armament, and Conqueror's. Discovering these soul-based attacks might be the key in defeating the immortals Receiving counsel from influential mentors, such as the enigmatic Scopper Gaban who should finally return to help train Luffy Where to read and watch One Piece The new One Piece chapter is serving all that hype as well right now in the Final Saga. Chapter 1151 will come out officially on … June 7, 2025 (Saturday) – for most of the rest of the world Free to read on Manga Plus and Viz Media Fans are looking forward to learning more about Imu, taking a deeper dive into Luffy's training, and even getting a glimpse at the start of his next transformation. Read the Manga Free and legal on Manga Plus and Watch the English Dub Available on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Funimation Luffy's journey thus far has seen him overcome every limit, yet with One Piece's recently-announced Final Saga promises to be his greatest test to date. With the fate of the entire world at stake fans are more thrilled than ever to find out what sort of new power Luffy will tap to finally beat the strongest villain in the story's long history.
