Scooter Braun 'went to a very dark place' amid divorce
The 43-year-old record executive has recalled being in a "very dark place" after his marriage to Yael Cohen fell apart in 2020.
Scooter said on The Diary Of A CEO podcast: "October of 2020, my marriage was falling apart. The whole world thought I was crushing it.
"I had a suicidal thought for 20 minutes where I was like, 'If my marriage is gonna fall apart, I'm not gonna be with my kids all the time. I can't control this. I'm not gonna be this perfect image that I've presented to the world. If I can't be this perfect image, I don't want to be here.' It went to a very dark place, and after 20 minutes I said, 'What the hell was that?'
"That's not me, I would never leave my kids."
Scooter's divorce taught him some important lessons about himself.
The executive - who was married to Yael between 2014 and 2022 - reflected: "I think I was happy because everyone in the world told me I was doing great and I thought that that was enough.
"I feel like I was asleep at the wheel. I feel like I didn't know myself at the time and, but I had so much success at such a young age. Everyone was telling me I was doing great. So I just chose to believe them.
"It wasn't until the foundation broke and there was nothing underneath it that I was like, oh s***, I'm actually not happy."
Scooter now believes that he and Yael were "made to be amazing co-parents".
What's more, the record executive suggested that he's become a better man because of everything he's experienced in recent years.
Scooter - who has two sons and a daughter with his ex-wife - said: "We were made to come into each other's lives, to help each other be better in different ways.
"Through the heartbreak of our relationship ending, we were brought together to make three incredible souls. Now, whoever gets me next is in for a treat."

Scooter also dismissed speculation that Taylor's 2022 track Vigilante S*** was about his divorce. He said: "No, because I talk to Yael every day. "My ex-wife is one of my best friends, so me and my ex-wife laugh about that stuff. We don't even call each other ex. That's like my partner, that's the mother of my children. "I have a tattoo on my finger that says 'same team' after my divorce because she and I are on the same team for life. That's what we say to each other. "So no, I never thought that was about us. She never thought it was about us and everyone else kind of feeding into the fire. "Great strategy move, but nah." On Vigilante S***, Taylor sings about befriending an ex-wife. The lyrics include: "She needed cold hard proof so I gave her some, she had the envelope, where you think she got it from? Now she gets the house, gets the kids, gets the pride. Picture me thick as thieves with your ex-wife. And she looks so pretty, driving in your Benz, lately she's been dressing for revenge."

Scooter Braun thinks Justin Bieber's new album is "beautiful, raw, and truly him". The 31-year-old singer released his new record, Swag, on Friday (11.07.25), and Scooter - who discovered Justin back in 2008 - has taken to social media to heap praise on the album. The 44-year-old businessman - who managed Justin through the peak years of his career - said on Instagram: "Been having a beautiful start to the weekend and been getting a lot of texts about how I feel about Justin's new album. Scooter Braun feels "a lot of guilt" towards the young artists that he managed. The 43-year-old businessman previously worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including the likes of Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato - but he now looks back on his role with some regrets. I feel a lot of guilt because I worked with so many artists and like I told you, I hadn't taken the time to look at myself or do the therapy myself until I was older. "So I didn't understand at 25 years old, at 27 years old, at 30 years old, that they each were coming from very unique backgrounds of their own stuff with their own families and their own childhoods and growing up this way, and being seen by the whole world." Scooter feels "very proud" of what he managed to achieve with the likes of Justin, Ariana and Demi. But the businessman now wishes that his artists all had access to a therapist during their younger years. He said: "I'm very proud of the job that we did and how much we cared and how much the team cared for all the years that we did it. "But it doesn't mean I don't look back and wish that I knew what I know now. I think I would have had a therapist on the road for all of us. "I would've slowed down all of us." Scooter announced his retirement from music management in 2024. The record executive noted that he was fortunate to have worked with "some of the most extraordinarily talented people the world has ever seen". He said in a statement at the time: "I have been blessed to have had a Forrest Gump-like life while witnessing and taking part in the journeys of some of the most extraordinarily talented people the world has ever seen. "I'm constantly pinching myself and asking, 'How did I get here?' And after 23 years this chapter as a music manager has come to an end."
