Married At First Sight star Elizabeth Sobinoff reveals why she left the spotlight

Daily Mail23-05-2025

Married at First Sight star Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Sobinoff has revealed why she left the spotlight.
On Friday, the two-time reality TV bride shared a humorous Instagram reel to her Stories from the 2011 comedy Bridesmaids with the caption: 'POV: Me after leaving a social event that was full of inauthentic conversations.'
Lizzie, 34, added some choice words of her own explaining her brief foray into the influencing industry after her appearances on MAFS in 2019 and again in 2020.
'What it felt like when I attended the maybe five influencer events I've ever been to...' she wrote, sharing the post to her 370,000 followers.
In a second post, Lizzie added that she doesn't consider herself to be an influencer like most reality stars become following their time on the show, before revealing why.
'And no, I'm not what most people would call an influencer,' she continued.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
'I did it for five minutes of my life. It wasn't for me. I just have a bit of a following because of the show.'
Lizzie was dubbed 'Australia's Most Confident Bride' in season six when she was disastrously paired with groom Sam Ball and was rumoured to have been paid $100,000 by Channel Nine when she returned in season seven.
New Idea reported the former retail store manager had been paid 'the whopping fee for a four-week appearance on [season seven] while the rest of the cast were paid $150 a day.'
The former reality TV star is now happily married to her engineer husband Alex Vega, and is mum to an 18-month-old baby girl and a newborn baby boy who was born in April.
During Lizzie's first appearance on MAFS, her occupation was listed as 'Store Manager' and during her second, it was listed as 'MAFS contestant'.
In April 2019, she signed with celebrity talent agency CGM Talent, which no longer exists.
'So I'm pretty excited to mention that I'll be working with @ctmgroupau for all things management. Cannot wait to work with a team that understand my direction! For MGMT Enquiries, TV and radio and brand collabs, DM the team or email- talent@ctmgroupau.com,' Lizzie wrote on Instagram at the time.
Lizzie partnered with brands such as Booby Tape, Sculpt, Tan Tootie, and Tribe Skincare.
The bulk of her posts did not include an advertising hashtag, which wasn't yet required by Australian law, but did often include discount codes.
Presumably, Lizzie was paid for her posts and also for the use of her discount codes.
Lizzie limited comments on her account after the birth of her daughter in 2023, citing the negativity that often permeates on Instagram.
'My comments have been limited for a while now. Due to the nature of social media. It tends to breed negativity, not always but it definitely can,' she explained.
'I love to post BUT I have set boundaries…. And that's not a bad thing.'
In April 2024, she also took to social media to defend MAFS brides from trolling about their appearances.
'I saw an Instagram post about an injector going into detail about a girl on the current season of MAFS' face,' she said.
'Coming from someone whose been on MAFS twice, these are people. Two, it's not fair to their mental health when you start picking apart their appearance like that because they will see it.'
'I don't know this girl's storyline, I just was upset at how no one takes into consideration that she is a human and has feelings. Maybe say it's triggering for me at how I was torn apart by a lot of the PUBLIC,' Lizzie continued.
'In that particular line of work I'm under the assumption that you want to improve someone's confidence, make them feel good about themselves. I see this as counterproductive. Just for views?' she added.
Lizzie was famously fat- shamed by her first Married At First Sight groom Sam Ball on season 2019 of the show.
'I've never really dated girls as big as Elizabeth to be honest. It's obviously a topic that's troubled her in the past,' he on the reality series.
Sam also sparked outrage after revealing his plans to help Lizzie lose weight after their televised nuptials.
'She's got a beautiful face... Maybe I'll get her running in the mornings... but she'll be right. We'll get her going,' he said.
Lizzie and Seb Guilhaus hit off immediately during her second showing on MAFS in 2020, and stayed together after the show, before parting ways in 2021.

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness list $60million their 'modernist masterpiece' Manhattan penthouse amid divorce settlement

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have put their AU$60 million (US$39 million) New York apartment on the market amid their messy divorce. reports that the former couple are offloading the stunning five-bedroom 'triplex' apartment in the West Village that they purchased back in 2008 for AU$32 million (US$21 million). The penthouse boasts an eye-watering 1000 sqm of floor space and spans the top three floors of a glass tower overlooking the Hudson River. The three floors are connected via a spiral staircase and the luxe abode also boasts seven bathrooms. It also features a library, private sauna and an indoor gym, while the kitchen boasts a massive island bench, stainless steel appliances and plenty of cabinet space. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Designed by lauded architect Richard Meier, the property is described as a 'modernist masterpiece'. The main bedroom, meanwhile occupies an entire floor and includes a luxurious spa bath and dressing area. Hugh, 56, and Deborra-Lee, 69, tried to offload the apartment back in 2022, but paused the sale in favour of putting it on the rental market. The listing comes after it was recently revealed that the ex-couple had decided to split their other New York abode down the middle. The former couple filed records with the city regarding their shares of their former love nest, as seen in documents obtained by It marked the first public sign of their asset division, which The Real Deal was the first to report on, and comes just two days after the actress formally filed for divorce. The three-bedroom and 3.5-bathroom penthouse, which the couple purchased together back in 2022 for AU$32.46 million (US$21.12 million), had not been listed for sale but underwent a property transfer. According to the new deed seen by it was confirmed that the pair have ultimately decided to split this property down the middle. The documentation of the property transfer shows the names of the exes' longtime legal advisor as well as their shell companies on either or both sides of the deed. The paperwork reveals that Lackawanna LLC, a limited liability company that the pair previously used to purchase the home, transferred the penthouse to Phoenix Rising I LLC for AU$18 million (US$11.7 million). Phoenix Rising has been linked to Furness and is perhaps a symbolic name for reemerging from the ashes post-divorce. The sale price of the property had been registered at AU$36.27 million (US$23.6) million, so Deborra-Lee seemingly had the property transferred to her via the shell company for just under half of that sum. The deed also shows that the transaction was made between 'relatives or former relatives.' Their multimillion-dollar real estate portfolio includes properties spanning across three continents. They own several luxury properties across the United States, England and Australia. Hugh and Deborra-Lee, who had been married since 1996, announced their separation back in 2023 after 27 years of marriage. At the time, they cited a desire to pursue 'individual growth.' Though the pair have not publicly revealed the reasons behind their separation, rumors have run rampant as fans speculate Jackman growing close to his fellow Broadway co-star Sutton Foster in The Music Man play was a factor in their split. Last month, Deborra-Lee, alluded to Hugh's alleged affair with his now-girlfriend as she broke her silence about his 'betrayal' since legally filing for divorce. 'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,' she wrote in a statement shared exclusively with 'It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.' She continued: 'This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage.'

EXCLUSIVE Anna Robards is the definition of chic as she turns heads in double denim look in Sydney

Anna Robards looked every inch the stylish fashionista on Wednesday when she hosted an event in Sydney. The former Bachelor star turned heads in Bondi Junction when she stepped out in a double denim ensemble that consisted of an oversized navy shirt with gold button detailing paired with wide-legged jeans. The 37-year-old opted to accessorise her look with a purple handbag and chic heels and added some sparkle with a gold necklace. She wore her blonde locks in gentle beach waves, parted in the centre, at the Huggies pop-up. Anna's outing comes after she exclusively revealed to Daily Mail Australia that she and husband Tim are leaving Sydney and moving their young family to the Gold Coast. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The couple share daughters Elle, four, and Ruby, one, and met and fell in love on The Bachelor back in 2013 and have called Sydney their home ever since. She said the happy family purchased a residence at lavish hotel Mondrian in Burleigh Heads. 'We're heading up to the Gold Coast. We brought a property up there called the Mondrian. They've got different hotels around the world,' she said. 'We brought a property there around four years ago and it's only just settling now. So we're actually going to be moving up there.' 'Everything is happening this week. We're moving up there on Monday. I'm staying for a day and then I'll be coming back [to Sydney],' Anna added. 'We wanted a bit of a change. We don't know how long we'll be there. We're still going to keep our place here [in Sydney]. 'So we will be back and forth a lot for work. We just thought it would be really nice to get away from Sydney winter for a little bit. 'My business partner lives up there too. I've never lived overseas. We've never done anything like this as a family, or even individually.' The Mondrian residences are described as 'coastal luxury' with restaurants, bars and a pool club sitting on the ground floor on the shore of Burleigh Heads. Spa and wellness treatments are also offered on site and all properties have a stunning view of Burleigh Beach. As for her daughters, Anna said Elle is at an age where she is beginning to make friends so is 'a little bit sad' to be moving away from Sydney. 'I think [Elle's] a little bit sad going to the Gold Coast because she won't be able to see her friends,' she said. 'They're starting to get to that age where they're making good friends and they don't want to leave them. 'But I know she'll make a lot of good friends while on the Gold Coast... She's great at making friends.' Anna added that Elle will officially be in primary school next year, which the influencer feels 'nervous' about but says she knows her daughter will 'thrive'. As for Anna's husband Tim, 42, who she married in 2018, he will be handling the initial set-up of the move. The blonde beauty will only get to spend one day on the Gold Coast after they move in before she has to fly back to Sydney for work. She will be attending a Huggies activation event at Westfield Bondi Junction, which will start next Wednesday on June 11 from 9am. Anna has been an ambassador for the nappy brand for four years, and is currently promoting the company's latest 'hero range' Huggies SkinProtect Nappies. Huggies, in collaboration with Hello Skin, has produced 'cheeky' limited edition Bum Masks for parents and will celebrate with an immersive pop-up at Bondi Junction. Anna and pediatric skincare expert Dr Deshan Sebaratnam will be in attendance at the four-day event as they invite parents along for the free experience. Thousands of visitors can receive skincare tips from Dr Deshan, take part in fun family photo moments and enjoy free pastries and babycinos. They will also be treated to take home samples of the new Huggies range and the limited edition Huggies Bum Mask. 'It's cheeky, pun intended,' Anna joked, adding the Bum Mask is a 'tongue-in-cheek' way of Huggies saying they'll 'look after parents' as well as their babies. 'I actually tried it,' she laughed, when asked if she had sampled the product which she describes is a 'face mask for your bottom'. 'Nobody was home. You have to lie on your stomach. You can either get someone to help or you can put it on yourself. It is quite relaxing,' she said.
