is scheduled to launch in India on August 12. Ahead of the launch, the company has been teasing multiple specifications and features of its upcoming phone. Vivo V60 will succeed the last year's Vivo V50. Vivo has already confirmed the processor, colour variants, battery and other key features of Vivo V60. Vivo V60 features
Vivo V60 will feature a quad-curved display. The smartphone will come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. Auspicious Gold, Mist Grey, and Moonlit Blue are colour options that the smartphone will be offered in.
Further, Vivo has confirmed a triple camera setup on the back. This will include a 50MP telephoto lens with 10x zoom support and multifocal Portrait Modes as well.

Vivo V60 is confirmed to run on the company's own FuntouchOS 15 based on Android 15 operating system. As mentioned above, the upcoming Vivo smartphone will be equipped with Google Gemini features, including the Gemini Live. The handset will also offer AI captioned and AI smart call assistant.
Vivo V60 is also confirmed to come with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

Vivo V60 5G is expected to come with a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, offering a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits. The device may feature an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens. On the front, it could house another 50-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
Other expected features include support for 90W wired fast charging, dual stereo speakers, and an in-display fingerprint scanner for security.

S tanding beside mountains of metal scrap, Guru Punghavan believes India's energy security needs participation and research in battery technologies by companies of all sizes. He founded Boson Cell, which manufactures lithium-ion battery cells, using a portion of recycled materials. His father has helmed an aluminum die-casting MSME serving the automobiles and telecommunications sector for 25 years. When Guru took up management, he opted for forward-integration by making aluminium alloys. That's when he noticed the large volume of electronic waste being collected even by a metal recycling company. "This was a niche market which many people did not focus on. So we ventured into refining critical materials from electronic waste," he says. Starting with battery recycling, Boson is focused on building lithium-ion cells for drones, EVs and energy storage applications (ESS). "We started these research projects in 2019 to develop refining technologies. Initially, we sold cathode and anode materials, then we focussed on battery cells, as each cell maker has unique needs, and there were limited opportunities," he said. The trading of these materials drew intense scrutiny in the aftermath of recent geopolitical shifts, including China's export controls on battery and refining technologies that took effect in January. Currently India imports more than 80% of its cells and it predominantly comes from China. Boson Cell has built a facility for recovering critical minerals through a process known as black mass generation at Sriperumbudur, with an initial capacity of 0.8 gigawatt hours. "Currently, this serves up to 30% of our inputs, enabling us to focus on the primary business of building cells, but we plan to expand this capacity in the future," Guru Punghavan says. He also worked with South Korean companies to establish manufacturing lines, SoPs and clean rooms for cell manufacturing. Boson Cell has developed two cells for drones with nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) chemistry and is in the process of building four more cells and exploring different cell chemistries, including lithium iron phosphate (LFP). "There are discussions around curbs on rare earth material exports from China. While it does not affect us now, it has highlighted the risks in the battery supply chain. Recycling of e-waste and refining capabilities for lithium, cobalt and nickel are in nascent stage in India and it affects our cell production," he says. The company has raised $1.5 million from friends and family and plans to raise more capital for expanding its production capacity, specifically targeting EV cells. The startup has partnered with drone OEMs and is in talks with electric two and three wheeler OEMs for pilot projects. It is also expecting financial support from the Centre under the Fame II programme. Guru Punghavan believes the govt's targeted support for smaller battery cell manufactures could boost the ecosystem. The startup aims to build a one lakh cell a day production line by the next fiscal and it hopes to source 100% of its materials for the cells from inhouse recycling. The startup is betting on providing faster turnaround times and lower minimum order quantities to gain market share. Vadodara: City-based Parul University (PU) has announced the launch of the country's first neurocognitive research centre, named after Dr Vijay Bhatkar, India's eminent computer scientist and the creator of the nation's first supercomputer, PARAM. The Dr Vijay Bhatkar Global Research Center for Neurocognitive and Consciousness Studies was inaugurated by Dr Bhatkar himself, widely recognized as the architect of India's national supercomputing initiative. T he Padma Bhushan awardee recently visited the PU campus to attend a conference exploring the convergence of mindfulness, artificial intelligence, and ethical frameworks in behavioural science. India's semiconductor market is expected to more than double to grow in the range of USD 100-110 billion by 2030 according to industry estimates, an official statement said on Sunday. The Indian semiconductor market was about USD 45-50 billion in 2024-2025 against USD 38 billion in 2023, the statement said, citing industry estimates. "Currently, countries like Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, China and US dominate the semiconductor industry. Taiwan produces more than 60% of the world's semiconductors, including nearly 90 per cent of the most advanced ones. Live Events "Such dependence on a single region has exposed global supply chains to significant risks - from pandemics and natural disasters to geopolitical tensions. Recognizing this challenge, many countries are now building secure and diversified supply chains," the statement said. The United States, European Union, Japan, and South Korea have launched national strategies to support domestic chip manufacturing and reduce over-reliance on a single region. "India is emerging as an important and trusted partner in this global shift," the statement said. The global semiconductor market is expected to reach USD 1 trillion by 2030, with India's market occupying a substantial portion of it. India has the capacity to emerge as a key contributor to the three primary pillars of the semiconductor manufacturing supply chain - equipment, materials and services and R&D. It stated that India can leverage a strong base of MSMEs to produce components for semiconductor equipment and it has a rich source of chemicals, minerals and gases which can be utilised by semiconductor supply chain companies. Services R&D, logistics and supply chain, major talent in AI, big data, cloud computing and IoT are major strengths, the statement said. The government has already launched India Semiconductor Mission in December 2021 with an outlay of Rs 76,000 crore to provide financial support for investments in semiconductor fabrication, display manufacturing & chip design to strengthen India's integration into global electronics value chains. Industry players including US memory chip maker Micron, Tata Electronics (TEPL) in partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (PSMC) of Taiwan, CG Power & Industrial Pvt Ltd in partnership with Renesas & Stars, Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt Ltd (TSAT), Kaynes Semicon, HCL-Foxconn JV have committed a total investment of over Rs 1.55 lakh crore to produce semiconductors in India. The government under the ISM has made a Rs 1000 crore provision for Design Linked Incentive for chip design out of which it has committed Rs 234 crore financial support for eligible start-ups. "The government had committed the support of Rs 234 crore for the chip design projects from 22 companies with a total project cost of Rs 690 crore. These chips will be used in CCTV cameras, mobile networks, satellites, cars, smart devices, etc. The government under its vision for semiconductor ecosystem development supports Semicon India which is a flagship event organised in partnership with SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International). The platform brings together global industry leaders, policymakers, academia, and startups to foster investment, dialogue, and strategic partnerships. "The 4th edition is to be held in Delhi from September 2-4th, 2025. Semicon India 2025 co-hosted by India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and SEMI will be held from September 2-4, 2025, at Yashobhoomi (IICC), New Delhi. It is set to display India's redefining role in the global semiconductor ecosystem," the statement said.
