Jim James Remembers Brian Wilson: ‘Thank You for Sharing Your Love With Us'
'I'll never forget hearing Brian sing the song we were working on together for the first time,' James shared in a statement to Rolling Stone. 'That VOICE…hearing it pop out of the speakers in real life brought me to tears. I had to turn back into a corner and collect myself.' When 'Right Where I Belong' was released in 2021, the My Morning Jacket member put Wilson's music into the context of his own life, noting, 'It has always been there with me in celebrating life's greatest triumphs and has also sustained me through some of my darkest hours.'

'It was like seeing the ocean for the first time, or maybe the sun set on the Grand Canyon,' he continued. 'It was an honor of the highest magnitude. Brian said once, 'For me, the love, that's what the music really is. I know that love is what I really want to share.' You did it Brian! Thank you for sharing your love with us.'

Rock legend praises Bruce Springsteen for ‘not being afraid' to slam Trump on stage
Credence Clearwater Revival's John Fogerty heaped praise on legendary musician Bruce Springsteen for calling out President Donald Trump in a Rolling Stone interview published Monday. Fogerty praised Springsteen for speaking out against Trump and defending his values. "I'm really proud of Bruce for just sticking up for his values and, and not being afraid to voice them," said the "Down on the Corner" singer. Springsteen has been a vocal critic of President Trump for almost a decade now. During his latest world tour, the "Born To Run" singer has incorporated a brief anti-Trump speech into his sets where he implores audiences to recognize the president as a threat to civilization that must be resisted. "In my home, the America I love, the America I've written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration," he said in between songs at his Manchester show in May. "Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experience to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring," he continued, elsewhere during the set adding, "There's some very weird, strange and dangerous s--- going on out there right now." Trump responded to Springsteen several days later in a post on his Truth Social platform. "I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States. Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he's not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country." Springsteen announced last year that he would be voting for former Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential race. While speaking with Rolling Stone, Fogerty suggested that Trump made a mistake by going after Springsteen publicly, noting how President Richard Nixon chose not to publicly spar with his critics. "Even though they're very similar, President Nixon would've realized not to give the other side publicity by acknowledging and talking about it. 'Cause you just make it more famous when you do that," he said. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This Scene From Weapons Has A Hidden Meaning
On Friday, the highly anticipated Zach Cregger horror-mystery, Weapons, officially released in theaters. Cregger is also known for the 2022 horror film, Barbarian. The Julia Garner and Josh Brolin-led film about 17 missing children, which made headlines for having a perfect 100% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and currently sits at 95%, topped the box office this weekend, beating out Freakier Friday. While the movie is a rollercoaster ride I will not totally spoil for you here (it is, in my opinion, best to go into this one as clueless as possible if you haven't seen it yet! But, there are mild spoilers ahead, so be warned!), there is one particular scene from the movie that's taken the Internet by storm. That scene is, of course, right before [redacted] shows up to Marcus's — the principal's — home. He and his husband are enjoying a quiet evening in, complete with a snack tray and a perhaps not-so-soothing documentary about cordyceps — a parasitic fungi. What really piqued people's interest here was the snack platter they'd concocted for themselves. The feast included seven hot dogs (mustard ONLY), a good helping of ruffled potato chips, four cookies, a bowl of baby carrots, and an absolutely diabolical (but appropriate, TBH) serving of accompanying ranch dressing. I won't lie to you — the second that came on screen, I turned to my girlfriend and mumbled something about how we should have that for dinner, actually, because it was a delightful, if not slightly unhinged, spread. Well, it seems like that scene stuck with a lot of people, actually: All jokes aside, while this shot certainly made our stomachs grumble and tugged at our heartstrings, some eagle-eyed fans have shared their own theory of why the capital-d delicious dinner spread is so notable, and I'm willing to bet that you — like me — totally missed it. Folks online have since pointed out that they think the seven hot dogs seem to be an homage to Cregger's late friend and collaborator, Trevor Moore, who died suddenly in 2021. Cregger spoke to Rolling Stone about how his grief and processing the loss of his best friend inspired the movie, saying, "I wanted to do something I found that as I kept writing, and the more I identified with all of the people I was writing about, the more this became something like an honest diary of my inner shit." He continued, sharing a conversation he had with fellow horror director Ari Aster (Midsommar, Hereditary) about being unsure of including "the personal stuff" in his work. "[Ari] was like, 'The personal stuff is what makes this work. Don't be ashamed of it!' Hearing him say that…it's part of the DNA of Weapons. The town is dealing with a loss. And so was I.
