2027 Women's World Cup to remain free-to-air for fans after BBC and ITV agree rights
The 2025 European Championship has also been shown across these two platforms, drawing ITV's highest viewing numbers of the year as the peak audience for England's semi-final win against Italy hit 10.2 million across all devices.
BBC and ITV will share the coverage of group-stage and knockout games — splitting them equally — but will both show the final, after covering the previous edition of the tournament together as well.
'Extending our partnership with FIFA alongside ITV ensures that the drama and spectacle of the Women's World Cup remains free-to-air,' said BBC director of sport Alex Kay-Jelski in a statement on their website. 'BBC Sport has been a longstanding champion of women's football, helping to elevate the game to where it is today – a sport experiencing unprecedented growth in popularity and reach across BBC Sport platforms.'
England lost to Spain in the 2023 World Cup final, but will get the chance to beat the reigning world champions in the Euros final on Sunday as the national teams face each other again.
'It's vital we ensure tournaments like the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 remains free-to-air for generations of football fans to enjoy, with support of the game at an all time high,' said ITV director of sport Niall Sloane in the same statement.
The tournament will be shown in the United States on Netflix, who beat Fox in the bidding process and will also show the 2031 edition of the tournament.
The agreement comes on the same day that Tour de France cycling coverage will stop being free-to-air in the UK after four decades as Warner Bros Discovery gain exclusive rights to the race.
The 2025 Euros final between England and Spain kicks off at 5pm on Sunday.

Liverpool rocked by rival contract offer for defender
Liverpool are facing considerable uncertainty over . The defender is out of contract in less than 12 months and so far no agreement has been reached over a new deal. If Konate and sporting director Richard Hughes cannot come to a conclusion over new terms then it is highly likely he will depart as a free agent in 2026. LFC Kits Shop Now LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now Real Madrid have been the team most closely linked with the 26-year-old - who joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in 2021. Konate's situation is one reason why Liverpool have been linked with centre-backs this summer. Having sold Jarell Quansah - and with Joe Gomez injury prone - it appears that Virgil van Dijk is the ONLY central defender the club can count on with any degree of certainty up to 2027. Nathan Zeze on Liverpool radar And there are established links with Marc Guehi - who is out of contract with Crystal Palace in 2026 - while reports are also suggesting Ronald Araujo could be a target. Younger options have also been discussed in the shape of Giovanni Leoni, Joel Ordonez and Nathan Zeze. Zeze, 20, is a product of the Nantes academy who has reportedly been on the radar of the Reds for a few months now. However they will NOT be signing the France under-21 international having been blown out of the water by a contract offer from Saudi Arabia. NEOM SC sign Zeze NEOM SC - a newly-promoted Saudi Pro League team - have completed the signing of Zeze for around €25m - a sum that Liverpool could have easily afforded. But TBR Football is reporting that the Reds - and Bournemouth - opted against making a rival bid for Zeze owing to the riches laid in front of him by the Saudis. 'Liverpool have pulled out of a move for an 'incredible' replacement for Jarell Quansah due to a 'huge offer' from the Saudi Pro League,' the report reads. 'Nantes have agreed an overall deal worth €25million (£21.5million) – which in theory the European clubs would have matched. 'However, the terms on offer in Saudi have pushed him beyond what they were willing to do.'

Charity football match to honour beloved couple
Footballers will take to the pitch in Bury St Edmunds this month to honour the memory of a much-loved couple and raise funds for local hospices. The charity match, taking place at the British Sugar Sports and Social Club, is held in tribute to Gary and Mollie Sharpe. It will raise money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) and St Nicholas Hospice Care. Mrs Sharpe died from pancreatic cancer in September 2019. Mollie Sharpe passed away in 2019 (Image: Supplied) Mr Sharpe, her husband, passed away in May 2022. Their daughter, Heather Mortimer, who helps organise the annual event, said her mother had a close connection to St Nicholas Hospice Care, where she volunteered. She said: 'It's a local charity that meant so much to my mum. "Before she died, when mum knew her cancer was terminal, she insisted she didn't want flowers at her funeral. "Instead, she asked people to donate to EACH. "That's how strongly she felt, and raising funds is our way of honouring her wishes.' This year's match will be held on Sunday, August 17, kicking off at 11.30am. A team of family and friends will play against Bury and District Sunday League side Risby Greens. Gary Sharpe passed away in 2022 (Image: Supplied) The event will also feature tombola games, a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, face-painting, a bouncy castle, and a sweet stall. Heather added: 'The main objective is to raise funds, but it's also important to see everyone having a laugh and enjoying themselves. "Family and fun are two of the most important things in life, and hopefully our match is a celebration of that.' Players will compete for the Sharpie's Cup. In addition, the family also hosts an 80s and 90s disco, 'Mollie's Legacy of Hope', each autumn. This year's event takes place at Morton Hall Community Centre on October 25.
