Time of India2 days ago

Bhopal: The BJP city unit on Sunday marked the anniversary of Bhopal state's merger with independent India on June 1, 1949 by paying tribute to the forgotten heroes who led the struggle to free the city from the rule of the nawab.
The event, held at Bhopal Gate and Jumerati post office, saw Bhopal MP Alok Sharma hoisting the tricolour and releasing balloons to mark the beginning of the programme. Portraits of the merger movement's leaders were garlanded, and their stories of resistance, sacrifice and perseverance were recalled.
Speakers at the event said the warriors' persistent struggle despite atrocities by police of Bhopal nawab did bear the fruits but it took almost 2 years more for Bhopal to see the light of freedom.
The speakers on the occasion referred to Balkrishna Gupta, Ratan Kumar Gupta, Prof Akshay Kumar Jain, Pt Uddhavdas Mehta, Jamuna Prasad Mukhraiya, Master Lal Singh, Mathua Babu and other freedom fighters from Bhopal, who led the merger movement, who continued their struggle for freedom even after rest of India had attained freedom and the British had left the nation.
Sharma, in his address at the function, referred to firing by police of Bhopal nawab at Boras and referred to Ramprasad, Chhote Singh, Dhan Singh, Mangal Singh and Kaluram martyred in the firing.

He said chests of the youth were riddled by bullets of the nawab police but they didn't allow the tricolour to bend or fall.
The freedom fighters, who hoisted the tricolour at the post office in Jumerati, were also arrested. He suggested that Bhopal's saga for freedom should be taught in schools separately and he would talk to the school education minister in this regard.
He further asked Bhopal mayor Malti Rai, who was also present at the function, to pass a resolution in the BMC general council for installation of late Ratan Kumar's statue at Jumerati post office.
BJP MP Sharma said a museum focusing on the merger movement of Bhopal should be established, so that the new generation of Bhopal knows about the struggle of their ancestors to get freedom. He also referred to women freedom fighters like Mohini Devi and Champa Charu and said women of Bhopal also contributed a lot in the merger movement.
Rai, chairman of BMC general council Kishan Suryavanshi and veteran leader Suresh Pachouri also addressed the gathering.

BJP MP Alok Sharma accuses Bhopal's Muslim gym trainers of ‘love jihad', fuelling Bajrang Dal's campaign

Speaking to the media Sunday, Sharma said, 'There are many gyms in Bhopal and we are also preparing a list where the trainers are allegedly Muslims. There should be women trainers too.' Sharma's statement came just days after members of the Bajrang Dal visited gyms in Bhopal's Ayodhya Nagar locality, searching for Muslim trainers. They later submitted a memorandum to the Ayodhya Nagar Police Station, alleging that Muslim trainers in the city's gyms are involved in 'love jihad'. Bhopal: Alok Sharma, BJP MP from Bhopal, has stirred controversy once again by stating that a list of gyms employing Muslim trainers is being compiled and will soon be submitted to the police. 'We are making a list and will be submitting it to the police. The police will do their work, the law will do its job and in Madhya Pradesh there is Dr Mohan Yadav's government and no one has the permission to indulge in love jihad or land jihad. The law will take stringent action against such people. This is all I want to say,' added Sharma, elected as MP in 2024. He has previously served as the mayor of Bhopal and is known for his hardliner image. Last month, Sharma had demanded that the government sterilise those accused of 'love jihad'. In January this year, he proposed exploring Bhopal's iconic lake in search of remnants of a Vedic city he believes lies submerged beneath it. He made this suggestion during a meeting at Delhi's Sansad Bhawan, held to assess the heritage potential of cities for conservation efforts. In the past, Sharma has called for enforcing a uniform 10 pm closing time for all shops across Bhopal. He noted that while commercial areas like New Market and Sarafa adhered to the deadline, several parts of old Bhopal, like Qazi Camp and Laxmi Theatre area, remained open until midnight. The areas pointed out by Sharma are dominated by Muslim community. Sharma also claimed that the late-night markets were 'spoiling children'. Here's what happened Muslim gym trainers face heat The crackdown on gym trainers in Bhopal began after a Muslim man, identified as Mohsin Khan, was booked by Indore Police on charges of sexual misconduct. Khan, who runs a private shooting range in Indore, was booked along with two others following allegations by a minor girl accusing them of rape, cheating, and molestation. According to the minor, she began working at Khan's house during the pandemic. She alleged that she was raped, shown obscene videos, and held captive for about 15 days. Last week, members of the Bajrang Dal visited several gyms in Bhopal, asking those working out to disclose their names and identities. Later that day, they submitted a memorandum to the police, demanding action against 'outsiders' who, they alleged, entered the city posing as Hindu men to befriend Hindu women as part of a 'love jihad' campaign. Following reports of these visits, Sub-Inspector Dinesh Sharma was deployed to monitor the situation and ensure there was no law-and-order issue. However, a video later surfaced showing the sub-inspector sitting with Bajrang Dal members, saying that Muslims should neither be hired as gym trainers nor be allowed in as clients. After the video came to light, he was transferred from the police station and attached to the reserve force. Speaking to The Print, Mahesh Lilhare, State House Office at Ayodhya Nagar, said, 'After the video came to our knowledge, an inquiry was initiated. As of now, Dinesh Sharma has denied making any such remarks and the authenticity of the video is under investigation.' China ramps up military pressure on Taiwan with 70 warships, 75 jets in may amid invasion threat

China increases the temperature around Taiwan (ANI) TAIPEI: Beijing sent two aircraft carrier strike groups and numerous warships to the waters both north and south of Taiwan last month, as noted by a Taiwanese security official, amid rising tensions between China and Taiwan, as reported by The Eurasian Times. From May 1 to May 27, around 70 Chinese vessels, including naval ships, were tracked from the Yellow Sea to the South China Sea, according to a security official who requested anonymity. In recent years, China has intensified the deployment of warships and fighter jets around Taiwan, pressuring Taipei to recognise its claims of sovereignty over the island, The Eurasian Times reported. China has not dismissed the possibility of using military force to bring Taiwan under its control, posing an ongoing threat of invasion to the island. "Their military activities and grey-zone operations have involved substantial deployments across the entire island chain, representing a strategy of comprehensive maximum pressure," the security official indicated, as quoted by The Eurasian Times. "On average, there have been between 50 to 70 naval and government vessels operating, along with hundreds of flights by different military aircraft, consistently engaging in harassment missions." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Some of the vessels travelled through the Miyako Strait into the Western Pacific Ocean for "long-range training, including integrated air-sea exercises," the official added, as cited by The Eurasian Times. On May 19, an additional 30 unnamed Chinese ships, lacking documentation or a port of registry, were spotted near Taiwan's Penghu archipelago in the Taiwan Strait and had been "intentionally deployed to intimidate," the official remarked. Taiwan's defence ministry noted that a total of 75 Chinese aircraft participated in three "combat readiness patrols" near the island during the month, as highlighted by The Eurasian Times. These actions by China were indicative of a "military expansion" effort aimed at controlling the "entire island chain and enhancing their capabilities," the official stated. Since Lai assumed office, China has conducted several large-scale military exercises in the vicinity of Taiwan, according to The Eurasian Times.

Madhya Pradesh: Cop caught on video asking gym to bar entry of Muslims; removed from field duty

Madhya Pradesh: A police sub-inspector has been removed from field duty and attached to police lines after he allegedly asked a gym owner not to allow entry to Muslims at the facility in Bhopal, officials said on June 3. The action against sub-inspector Dinesh Sharma was taken after a video surfaced on social media showing him purportedly making the controversial comments. "No Mohamedan (Muslim) will come here to train or take training. I am telling you this clearly," the policeman was heard instructing the gym owner in the now-viral video clip on social media. A group of people had raised objection to the presence of Muslim trainers at the gym in Bhopal's Ayodhya Nagar locality, according to reports. Bajrang Dal members had visited the gym, and raised questions over the presence of Muslim trainers at the facility, police said, news agency PTI reported. Police personnel, including SI Dinesh Sharma, were subsequently called to the spot to manage the situation. Sharma allegedly made the comments at that time, an official said. After a video of his comments went viral on social media, the police started an investigation into the matter. Following the investigation, Sharma was on Monday attached to the Police Lines here, an official said. The police have made it very clear that no such act will be allowed which creates tension between communities, the official added. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Bhopal, Alok Sharma, told the media on June 1 that a 'list of gym instructors' in the city had been compiled, and insisted that women clients should be trained only by women instructors. 'The list of gym trainers will be handed over to the police, who will act according to the law,' he said. Congress MLA Arif Masood criticised the move, questioning the rationale behind targeting gym professionals based on religion. 'Is running a gym now a crime? If it's being run following rules, then what is the problem?' he asked. No Mohamedan (Muslim) will come here to train or take training. I am telling you this clearly.
