Four crews remain at scene of moorland fire
The blaze broke out near Oldham Road in Ripponden at about 12:15 BST on Thursday, with smoke billowing across the M62.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Four crews and supporting units are at the scene this morning to monitor the land and watch for any hotspots."
The A672 remains closed in both directions.
The fire service said at its height the blaze stretched for 1.2 miles (2km) with 18 crews in attendance.
In an update, it said: "Dropping temperatures, a moister ground overnight and morning dew is positive for the ongoing situation.
"Our drone team will also be attending later today to help crews assess the full scene."
The cause of the blaze is not known but it comes after a series of moorland fires in West Yorkshire in recent weeks and follows a long spell of dry weather.

Fire crew response to moorland blaze scaled back
Firefighters tackling a moorland blaze in West Yorkshire have scaled back their response as they begin to bring the fire under control. As of 19:00 BST, three crews and two wildfire support units were still at the scene and were "continuing to make progress", they added. The spokesperson also advised people to "avoid the area if possible to allow emergency services to work safely and efficiently". City centre fire prompts dry weather safety call
Firefighters have tackled a shrub and grass fire next to a busy main road in Hull city centre. Humberside Fire and Rescue was called at 10:48 BST to reports of a blaze alongside the A63 Castle Street, next to the Murdoch's Connection Bridge. The fire was extinguished a short time later but smoke could be seen blowing across the carriageway while the operation was carried out. A spokesperson for the brigade urged people to be mindful of an increased risk of fire near grassed areas following recent dry weather and to dispose of litter responsibly to reduce the risk.
