Jamie Laing and shares truth behind Meghan Markle twerk at Buckingham Place

Daily Mirror07-07-2025
Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have confessed to breaking Palace rules with a cheeky Meghan-inspired twerk and left King Charles laughing with an awkward etiquette blunder.
Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo admit a mangling of royal etiquette overshadowed their meeting with King Charles after he was pictured chuckling at them during a private reception.
The former Made In Chelsea stars were received by his Majesty at Buckingham Palace in June, shortly before attending the annual King's Trust Awards the following day. And they admit an initial faux-pas from Sophie, 30, prompted a subsequent photo in which King Charles appears to laugh at the couple while greeting a procession of guests at the special event.

The married couple filmed themselves recreating Harry and Meghan's famous 'Baby Mama' twerk in the heart of the royal residence but the playful video came as a breach of Palace rules as guests were asked not to use their cameras inside Buckingham Palace during the star-studded King's Trust event.

Which sparked a social media storm by appearing to poke fun at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's notorious pregnancy twerk video during their trip to the Palace.
They raised eyebrows by cheekily filmed themselves on the Grand Staircase at the Palace, which has been traversed by Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses.
Seemingly channeling the Royal couple, Jamie wrote: 'They said we couldn't film in Buckingham Palace.'
While the moment was a breach in protocol and could have sparked a royal meltdown, palace aides fortunately found the funny side. On its official Instagram account 'theroyalfamily' replied to the post, adding: 'We see you' accompanied by a pair of eyes and a wink emojis. The King's Trust entered the conversation in the spirit of the occasion with the quip: 'All of our attendees are very well behaved.'

Discussing her gaffe on the latest episode of their Nearly Parents podcast, an amused Jamie, 36, recalled how his pregnant wife had overlooked Royal etiquette by repeatedly shooting her hand out in an unsuccessful attempt to greet the Monarch.
'When you meet the King, you slightly bow your head, or you curtsy, then you hold your hand out and call him Sir afterwards,' he explained. 'Do not raise your hand and shake his hand until he's raised his hand towards you.
'He kept looking towards Sophie, and as soon as he went towards Sophie, Sophie put her hand up, like this... and then he turned away and she put it back down again'

'And she did this about three or four times, and then what happened was he looked at her again, because he's just being polite. You're meant to wait until he puts his hand up!'
Admitting she was mortified by the incident, which was filmed by a Netflix production team, Sophie said: 'I thought I was missing my opportunity and I didn't listen to that, because they were talking and it's just noise in my ear.

'So I thought "he's looking at me, is this my moment, I'm meant to shake and curtsy?" And I was buckling.'
Cracking up, Jamie revealed how Sophie resorted to robotically holding her hand out in anticipation of the King as he worked his way down a line that included beauty mogul Charlotte Tilbury, Hollywood star George Clooney and his wife Amal.
'And then what happened was, the last time, he turned towards Sophie, Sophie put out her hand. She didn't withdraw, she just held it there,' he said.
'She just held it there and didn't move it until he came and shook her hand. Just holding it like that!'

Although the family were ''excited'' for the latest addition to the brood, the early stages of the pregnancy caused Hannah to feel queasy - and she desperately needed some water to ease the sickness. ''I said this to like a butler, 'Excuse me, I'm really sorry, is it possible to have a glass of water?' Because you're not allowed to take anything in, there was no refreshments or anything there.'' Horrendous four-letter word in a supermarket 7 After visiting her pals, Louise's daughter, six, picked up a very rude word Credit: No Parental Guidance podcast Fellow host and mum-of-three Louise Boyce, 45, has also had her fair share of epic parenting fails - including a rude four-letter word her daughter had picked up from her friend's cat. One of her pals, Laura, has a cat - which the friend always claims is ''hard work''. ''And I just want to punch her in the face because I'm like, 'It's a cat'," she told her co-host. On one occasion, Louise visited Laura and her partner Stew with her kids - but little did she know the children would walk away with a new word in their vocabulary. ''When we got to their house, there was a card from Stew to Laura for their new house. ''And it simply says, 'The cat is a c**t'.'' Aware that her children can already read, the former model was mortified. ''My kids walk in and the first thing they see is this card - and they can't stop staring at it; it's almost like they know that it's wrong. ''They are looking at it as if Santa's holding it in Disneyland.'' Although Louise begged for the card to be turned around, it was already too late - as her daughter, five at the time, asked her what a c**t was. ''I just had to say it's a really, really naughty word that no one ever says.'' Unfortunately for Louise, her daughter likes to ''test'' her - and she decided to do it at the worst possible time and place. ''So then we're out and about and I can feel it, I know my daughter. And also the word sounds very much like 'can't'. ''So then my daughter's like, 'Mummy, you can't. You can't, you can't'. ''And we're in public. I'm like, 'I can't what?' Jamie Laing reveals awe after feeling baby kick for first time - 'It's like pure love'

Jamie Laing goes into detail about the 'chemical reaction' he felt after feeling his baby kick for the first time and said 'the only way to describe it is like pure love' Former Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing revealed that he felt his baby kick for the first time and became emotional during his latest podcast episode. Opening up on the Nearly Parents podcast, Jamie described the moment as 'pure love' as he recalled the momentous occasion. ‌ Jamie, 36, and Sophie, 31, tied the knot in April 2023 and in June 2025 announced that they were expecting their first baby together. Since announcing their sweet news, they have been keeping fans up to date with their pregnancy antics through their shared podcast. ‌ In the latest episode, Jamie goes into detail about the 'chemical reaction' he felt after feeling his baby kick, while Sophie explained that she had already been feeling the sweet kicks for three weeks. It comes after David Beckham speaks 'as a father' in 'family' announcement after latest Brooklyn snub. ‌ Jamie said: 'We felt the baby kick. Guys, it's like a little foot, it's a little foot that suddenly went poof into the stomach, and I felt it there'. Sophie then described the feeling like a fish swimming through her stomach, before Jamie added: 'It's insane, you can put your hands on the tummy and you can feel the baby kicking. I can't tell you what it does. There must be some sort of chemical reaction that happens. 'When I feel the kick, something goes through my body, something hits me, some chemical nails my body and the only way to describe it is like pure love. I've never felt that pure love, like real pure love.' Jamie's best friend, Oliver Proudlock, who has two children of his own, commented on the clip shared to Instagram: 'The PUREST'. Many fans also commented on the clip and described Jamie's reaction and storytelling as 'wholesome' and 'sweet'. ‌ The parents-to-be started their journey on the reality series Made in Chelsea, where the public was able to watch their love blossom. After dating for several years, Jamie got down on one knee at the Rosewood London hotel in December 2021, where he and Sophie shared their first ever date, and popped the question. Jamie had one of hotel's prestigious suites transformed with rose petals scattered across the floor and tea lights dotted around. A series of envelopes, which contained handwritten notes, had also been placed on the floor in a sweet gesture. ‌ The TV duo married in a civil ceremony in London in April 2023 with close friends and family, before having a huge weekend celebration in Marbella in May 2023 surrounded by 200 of their nearest and dearest. In March 2022, the couple launched their podcast, NearlyWeds, to document their wedding planning experiences. The podcast, later rebranded as NewlyWeds after they tied the knot, has been a huge hit with the fans. After a short break earlier this year, they came back with another reband and labelled the podcast NearlyParents to match their new stage in life.
