
UAE a leading model for protecting workers' rights, says senior Philippine official
Hans Leo Cacdac, Undersecretary for Welfare and Foreign Employment at the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in the Philippines, has praised the UAE as a leading model for protecting and caring for workers' rights.
In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) during the "Kalayaan 2025" Philippine independence celebration in Dubai, Cacdac commended the UAE's efforts in ensuring worker dignity and well-being.
He highlighted the strength of bilateral relations, particularly in migrant worker protection, and expressed optimism for enhanced partnerships. Cacdac affirmed the strong ties between the two nations, noting the DMW's commitment to strengthening cooperation for the benefit of Filipino workers in the UAE. He extended gratitude for the UAE's continuous support, emphasising the importance of ongoing dialogue to improve migrant worker conditions.
The grand celebration was attended by Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence in Dubai on Sunday.

UAE to mark World Environment Day tomorrow

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has launched a comprehensive programme to monitor plastic waste in the UAE's marine and coastal environments, conducting scientific studies and applying their findings to enhance efforts in reducing plastic support of this drive, the government has issued a decision governing the use of single-use products, including a complete ban on all single-use plastic bags by 2024, and other types of single-use bags by World Environment Day, the UAE reaffirms its commitment to developing and implementing policies, strategies, legislation and programmes aimed at building a sustainable future that balances economic and social growth with environmental protection. UAE, Egyptian Presidents discuss fraternal ties, regional developments
