Railways launches ‘Swarnim Bharat Yatra' to commemorate Independence Day with 10-day heritage tour
The 'Swarnim Bharat Yatra' train is aimed at commemorating India's Independence Day with a 9-night, 10-day tour covering key historical and cultural sites associated with India's freedom movement and heritage.
The first destination of the 'Swarnim Bharat Yatra' is Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Ashram, one of the key centres of Mahatma Gandhi's freedom movement.
Following this, the train will visit the intricate 15th-century Adalaj Stepwell and continue with a day trip to Modhera, known for its ancient Sun Temple, and Patan – home to the UNESCO-listed Rani Ki Vav.
In Kevadia, Gujarat, travellers will witness the iconic Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world, along with the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
The journey then proceeds to Pune, where the Aga Khan Palace – a landmark of the Quit India Movement – and sacred sites such as the Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga await.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), tourists will explore the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Ajanta and Ellora Caves, along with the Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga. The tour concludes with visits to Jhansi Fort and the historic temples and palaces of Orchha, before returning to Delhi.
The Deluxe AC Tourist Train has a composition of First AC, Second AC, and Third AC classes, accommodating 150 tourists with modern amenities such as dining cars, shower cubicles, sensor-based washrooms, foot massagers, and CCTV-enabled security, with boarding facilities available at Delhi Safdarjung, Gurgaon, Rewari, Ringas, Phulera, and Ajmer.
The Railways said that the IRCTC has fixed the tour prices at Rs 71,585 (3AC), Rs 81,675 (2AC), Rs 94,845 (1AC Cabin), and Rs 1,01,430 (1AC Coupe), which includes train travel, three-star hotel accommodation, vegetarian meals, transfers, sightseeing in an AC vehicle, insurance, and IRCTC tour manager services.

Guwahati Radisson Blu is in talks with strategic partners for setting up hotels in Kaziranga in Assam and Shillong in Meghalaya. It is also looking to come up with another hotel in Guwahati. General Manager Radisson Blu Guwahati Ankur Mehrotra said, 'Talks are on with strategic partners for setting up hotel on Kaziranga and Shillong and coming up with another hotel in Guwahati.' UNESCO's world heritage site of the Kaziranga National Park (KNP), Guwahati and Shillong are tourist destination and witnessing huge surge in the inflow of tourist. He added, 'We are adding 85 new rooms to the existing property in Guwahati. Presently it has 196 rooms. Presently we have around 130 hotels across India and we plan to increase it to 250 in next three years.' Mehrotra added that hotel industry in Assam is doing very well. The occupancy rate in Guwahati stands at 70 to 75 percent. In our case the occupancy is around 80 percent. Besides the tourist inflow, Guwahati is attracting tourists for destination wedding business travellers and Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions tourism (MICE tourism). We have added 10,000 square feet area targeting these events." He added, 'In the times to come Guwahati will be the Delhi-NCR of East India. Earlier business travellers were mostly from public sector units and government departments now we have good corporate people coming here. At least 25 percent our guests account for pilgrimage tourists.' He said that there is perception change among the travellers. 'People do not talk about the law and order and freely crisis between Guwahati and Shillong anytime in the day and night. We presently employ 350 staffs out of which at least over 85 percent are from Northeast India.' Mehrotra said that there is decent inflow of foreign tourists from Japan, United States and Germany. 'People from these areas come here and explore adventure tourism.'
