Chiefs are predicted to select Mississippi DL in the latest USA Today mock draft
The Kansas City Chiefs could potentially add a long-term starter in the NFL Draft next month as rumors swirl around the league. One of the latest suggestions circulating is from USA Today's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz regarding their depth on the defensive line.
According to Middlehurst-Schwartz, the Chiefs are a likely destination for former Mississippi standout Walter Nolen with their first-round pick.
"Further investment in the offensive line can't be entirely ruled out here, but trading Joe Thuney to the Bears and ponying up big for Jaylon Moore might wrap up the team's offseason plan of drastic action for its biggest vulnerability." wrote Middlehurst-Schwartz "Dropping Nolen in next to Chris Jones would ensure opponents will have their hands full with the Chiefs' interior line for some time."
Nolen was named First-team Associated Press All-American, First-team All-SEC, and tied for the team lead with 14 tackles for loss. He was a finalist for the Outland Trophy (the nation's top lineman). He started all 13 games in 2024, tallying 48 tackles and 6.5 sacks.

USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings, June 10: Kayla Harrison rockets to P4P No. 1 With an utterly dominant dismantling of Julianna Peña, Kayla Harrison took home more than just a piece of hardware. Now Harrison (19-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) tops our women's MMA pound-for-pound list after her submission of Peña (13-6 MMA, 8-4 UFC) in the second round to win the 135-pound strap in the UFC 316 co-main event. Harrison was a two-time lightweight $1 million champion in the PFL and won two Olympic gold medals in judo. In the UFC 316 headliner, Merab Dvalishvili (20-4 MMA, 13-2 UFC) put on a dominant display, as well, when he submitted ex-champ Sean O'Malley (18-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) in the third round of their rematch. Travis Kelce And Taylor Swift Moving from ‘Vacation Mode' to Minicamp
Travis Kelce And Taylor Swift Moving from 'Vacation Mode' to Minicamp originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A shroud of uncertainty surrounded Travis Kelce following the Kansas City Chiefs' embarrassing loss in Super Bowl LIX. Many anticipated the future Hall of Fame tight end retiring from football had the Chiefs won and made history with a "three-peat." Advertisement Unfortunately, that was not the case and he declined to provide any clarity on his future postgame. It has since been revealed that he will suit up for one more season, taking on a farewell tour with the Chiefs. But part of his brief absence from the spotlight had to do simply with getting away. He and his girlfriend, pop music megastar Taylor Swift, wanted some time to escape together. Swift had just finished her worldwide Eras Tour and Kelce completed another grueling and lengthy season. The NFL's biggest power couple have gotten their time together, enjoying life without cameras or critics following their every step. The latest of their offseason fun came Wednesday night when the couple was seen heading to dinner, enjoying the night together in Florida. Advertisement Surely the two will be up for more adventures in the future, but the time of the offseason is winding down. Kelce is not in the grind of the season just yet, but the Chiefs have some key dates coming up on the calendar. Mandatory minicamp begins next week for Kansas City, just over a month out from training camp set to begin on July 21. Before too long, No. 87 will be back on the field for his final campaign. And with the relationship still going strong, fans should expect to see Swift watching from a luxury suite per usual, cheering on her beau with friends and family gathered around. Nick Chubb has campaigned for another NFL chance through the offseason with impressive videos from the weight room and could have a potential suitor in the Kansas City Chiefs.
Nick Chubb has campaigned for another NFL chance through the offseason with impressive videos from the weight room and could have a potential suitor in the Kansas City Chiefs. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Nick Chubb looked every part of a top-five workhorse running back through the first five years of his career. All but one of those campaigns he finished with 1,000 yards with the lone miss coming in his rookie season when he had 996. Advertisement A nasty leg injury ended his 2023 campaign after Week 2 and he has struggled to show he still possesses those same abilities. This ultimately led the Cleveland Browns to part ways with him this offseason. Chubb has done his part in making himself more marketable to a new team, posting a number of videos from the weight room. Chubb's physical gifts do not cease to impress, but does he have enough to convince another NFL team to give him a chance? Alex Buck of NFL Analysis believes the Kansas City Chiefs, given their history with veteran running backs, make the ideal landing spot for Chubb ahead of next season. "Nick Chubb has been out to prove that he can still play at a high level, having fought his way back to fitness from a gruesome knee injury in 2023. He struggled in 2024, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry, but appears to have gotten some of his explosiveness back ready for a new season. Advertisement "If he does get signed, it'll likely be a very minimal prove-it deal with a potential contender. Look no further than the Kansas City Chiefs, who are no strangers to rotating veteran running backs into the offense." The Houston Texans have jumped in here. ... and now it's official, a one-year deal is done for Chubb in Houston. Kansas City may not have been the best place for that experiment. Isiah Pacheco has the top spot on the depth chart locked up and behind him the Chiefs have enlisted two experienced backs already in Kareem Hunt and Elijah Mitchell. That goes without mention of late-round pick Brashard Smith who the team thinks of in a high regard. Advertisement This is certainly not the flashiest backfield in the league but fits Andy Reid's scheme. Now if Pacheco goes down again that changes the complexion of this position and perhaps some alternatives are explored. But does Houston need him as a Joe Mixon helper? So it seems … And this point in the offseason, the Chiefs are not in need of any additions in this area, especially for a player who admittedly is not in very high demand.
