An elderly man in New Brunswick, Canada was shocked to find out he was being fined almost $5,000 CAD for a crash that happened in 1960. The only time we've heard of anything like this has been when there was a fatal crash and the suspect ran. But this case doesn't involve any fatalities, just the government pressuring an 85-year-old man to cough up cash for something he doesn't recall happening.Supposedly, the accident happened back when the man was living in Toronto back in the day, reports CBC. Allegedly, the man didn't have insurance at the time, so the other person involved in the collision was given a payout from Ontario's Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Fund.
What's even weirder is the man was a service technician while living in Toronto and legally had to carry car insurance. Plus, he says he legitimately doesn't remember being involved in a crash.
Now he's having to pay $200 a month on a fixed income, saying he'll have to sacrifice something to keep making those payments.
His family is looking at possibly hiring an attorney to fight the charges. We wonder if the attorney would cost more than $5,000. This is in part how government agencies can get away with slapping people with random fines since fighting it might cost more, plus generates plenty of trouble in a person's life.
One huge question that needs to be answered, but hasn't, is how 65 years passed without the Ontario government doing something about this fine. Why go after the guy now? What has honestly changed?
And do they have accurate records of the supposed crash? How do they know they didn't confuse this 85-year-old man with someone else? It all seems odd, to say the least, but for now the guy is stuck with a monthly bill from something he says he didn't do.

Former Brighton security guard arrested for trying to meet teen in Wyoming Co.
PERRY, N.Y. (WROC) – Officers with the Perry Police Department arrested a former Brighton school security guard on Friday and charged him with disseminating indecent material to minors. According to the PPD, a Facebook group called 'Decoys Making a Difference' went to the police station and turned over a binder that contained a chat log between 54-year-old Christopher L. Kervin and who he believed was a 14-year-old girl. Officers say in the conversations, Kervin asked the teen to send inappropriate pictures and 'wanted to teach the female lessons about her body.' Kervin then went to Crosbys in Perry to meet the alleged 14-year-old. Kervin was interviewed by an investigating officer and ultimately confessed to the conversations he had with the female who he believed was 14 years old. Officers charged Kervin with disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree, and gave him an appearance ticket. Kervin will appear in Perry Village Court on July 8. The Brighton Superintendent of Schools released the following statement: 'Dear Members of the Brighton School Community, We are writing to let you know that we are aware of stories in the media regarding a former employee that has been charged with first-degree disseminating indecent material to minors. The individual in question has not worked in the District for approximately a year and a half. During their employment, we did not receive any complaints or reports of inappropriate conduct. We do not have any reason to believe that this situation is in any way related to our school district or their prior employment. That said, we will monitor the situation closely and work with law enforcement to address any additional concerns or information that results from their investigation. Jared Leto denies allegations of sexual misconduct with teenage girls Jared Leto is denying allegations of inappropriate behavior with young women. In a report published by Air Mail on Saturday, June 7, multiple women alleged that the "Suicide Squad" actor, 53, behaved inappropriately with them when they were teenagers. A representative for Leto told Air Mail that "all of the allegations are expressly denied." The representative also denied an earlier allegation from Allie Teilz, a DJ who posted last month in a since-expired Instagram Story that she was "assaulted and traumatized" by Leto when she was 17, according to Air Mail. In a 2012 Facebook status update that she reposted on Instagram, Teilz wrote, "Youre (sic) not really in L.A. until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage ... In a kilt .. And a snow hat." The representative said that "Ms. Teilz's allegations are demonstrably false." USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Leto for further comment. One woman, model Laura La Rue, told Air Mail that in 2008, the actor approached her at a benefit in California and asked her how old she was. When she said she was 16, La Rue alleged Leto, then 36, still asked for her number. She said she was living in Ojai, California, at the time but that they began emailing and that she eventually went to visit him in Los Angeles in 2009. "I remember him teasing me the whole time I was there," she said. "He was flirting with me. He'd lean in close, then pull away, like it was a game." La Rue said she continued visiting Leto sporadically and claimed that on one occasion, when she was 17, he walked out of a room completely nude. A representative for Leto told Air Mail that the actor's communications with La Rue "contain nothing sexual or inappropriate," adding that "Ms. La Rue later applied to work as Mr. Leto's personal assistant, further underscoring the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions." La Rue told Air Mail she did not apply to work as Leto's personal assistant. An unidentified model and music producer told Air Mail that in 2006, when she was 16, Leto grabbed her arm while she was on her way to the bathroom at a café and got her number. Days later, the actor, who would have been in his 30s at the time, allegedly called her home in the middle of the night and invited her to a party at his house, which she declined. But the woman alleged Leto continued to call her over the next three weeks, "always at one, two, three a.m.," and that the "conversations turned sexual," with the actor asking inappropriate questions about her past sexual experiences. The woman said she was shaken by Leto's behavior, and her mother, who said she overheard one of the phone calls, vouched for her daughter's account to Air Mail.
