Dodge Charger Sows Chaos For Arkansas Troopers On Independence Day

Read the full story on The Auto Wire A guy in a Dodge Charger Scat Pack gave Arkansas troopers a real run for their money on Independence Day this year. Dashcam footage of the chase, which involved quite a few ASP units, shows the guy really uncorked the performance on his Mopar muscle car, almost literally running circles around dashcam footage starts with our camera car waiting for the purple Dodge Charger Scat Pack to come along. Sure enough, it blasts into the frame and the trooper gives chase as they both find their way around slower traffic blocking both lanes. From there, the suspect gaps the trooper big time, then disappears on the horizon. In other words, the guy just smoked the trooper after ditching one right before. Thankfully, ASP has troopers stationed all over and they're looking for the distinct Mopar. One spots the suspect, who'd probably feeling pretty smug by that point, and another chase ensues once the trooper goes code three. It's the same story as before, the Scat Pack easily gapping the cop car. However, that trooper stays on the suspect along with some other nearby units. From there, the footage jumps from one ASP unit to another because none of them can keep up with the guy. But ASP is swarming the area in an effort to put an end to the dangerous chase. We see one trooper almost run into a bystander's car, thankfully stopping just in time, as well as other close calls. At one point, towards the end of the pursuit, the suspect dodges a Stop Stick as it's thrown right in front of him, so the guy has good reflexes. Funny enough, what takes out the fleeing Dodge Charger Scat Pack in the end is a roundabout. The guy must've not realized one was coming up, and at his breakneck speed he just couldn't navigate it, wrecking out into the curb instead. FHP C8 Corvette Wins Best Looking Cruiser

Read the full story on The Auto Wire Florida Highway Patrol has yet again won the national Best Looking Cruiser competition, this time with its C8 Corvette. It's the third year in a row the law enforcement agency has claimed the title, making people wonder if anyone can beat the insurgent mid-engine American sports car was revealed as part of the FHP fleet back in April of this year. Wearing the distinct black and tan paint scheme that's illegal for anyone to copy, it's not just a public relations vehicle but instead is used as an actual cruiser. Before anyone gets riled up about government waste, know that FHP didn't buy the C8 Corvette. It was seized from a drug trafficker, then repurposed for law enforcement use. Currently, it's stationed at Fort Myers in southwestern Florida. Speeders and other violators need to keep a sharp eye for the cruiser because it can do 0 to 60 mph in under three seconds and hit a top speed of 194 mph, so outrunning it is unlikely. The interior has retained the supple red leather upholstery, but there's a computer and mobile printer mounted for duty purposes. The Best Looking Cruiser competition is put on every year by the American Association of State Troopers. Every state submits photos of their entries, then the public gets to vote. While some go for rather traditional images, FHP got a little wild, having a cheetah from Zoo Miami pose with the sports car. FHP made it clear when it revealed the C8 Corvette that while it's a patrol vehicle, the flashy sports car will still be used for some public outreach programs. Entering it into the Best Looking Cruiser competition is just the start, with the Chevy likely used at public events, including leading parades, in the future. Jaguar Sales Tanked After Disastrous Rebrand

Read the full story on The Auto Wire We knew Jaguar's rebranding strategy was disastrous for the brand, but new hard data shows just how badly sales tanked. While the fact they plummeted didn't surprise us one bit, just how far the numbers fell honestly shocked data from the European Automobile Manufacturer's Association, the New York Post reports Jaguar saw its sales fall a whopping 97.5 percent on its home turf in Europe. We've never seen an implosion on that level, so it's appalling. In fact, in April 2025, just 49 Jaguars were sold in the entire European continent. Sales haven't been great for the brand in some time, but that figure is hilariously low compared to the 1,961 cars which were sold in April 2024. It's almost like people no longer wanted to be associated with the brand after its bizarre rebranding strategy was launched late last year. While ads declared the storied British automaker would 'Copy Nothing' and 'Live Vivid' that was accompanied by imagery of models wearing strange outfits, hair, and makeup. Usually, automotive marketing focuses on the cars a brand is making, but Jaguar decided to depart from that, going in a weird direction instead. And it's now paying the price for making such a decision. While it wasn't a focus of the marketing campaign, Jaguar was taking the opportunity to switch its model lineup to strictly EVs. That's something Volvo and other automakers with similar plans have suddenly switched as consumers have rejected all-electric vehicles fiercely. However, it seems Jaguar isn't just eating crow. While there are rumors the company is doing an about-face on the strategy, we don't see many outward signs that's happening, yet. Also, a spokesman reached out to the New York Post to say, 'Comparing Jaguar sales to 2024 is pointless as we are no longer producing vehicles in 2025 with low levels of retail inventory available. Jaguar's rebranding is not related to a sales decline.' Jaguar could've just admitted the rebrand was a disaster and promised to do better, but it didn't. It seems the automaker is instead choosing the painful route of sinking into irrelevance. Image via Jaguar Join our Newsletter, subscribe to our YouTube page, and follow us on Facebook.

Ford Prepares To Redefine The Mustang

Read the full story on The Auto Wire If you're a purist who believes a real Ford Mustang has to be a coupe or convertible, hold onto your hat because things are about to change. While many have been angered by the Blue Oval putting the pony badge on the all-electric Mach-E crossover, word is the Mustang nameplate is going to be used for a lot more models moving coming first and making a huge splash is the much-rumored Mustang sedan everyone seems to be convinced will be called the Mach-4. While talk of such a thing coming out has been around for years, more recent reports claim dealers have been shown a concept vehicle, so that means it's in the development process. We expect Mustang faithful will have varying opinions on the thing, with most rejecting it as 'not a real Mustang.' But with four-door versions of the Dodge Charger coming back, and seeing how many of those Stellantis used to sell, it's just a wise business move to offer a muscle sedan. But Ford isn't stopping there. Supposedly at the same dealer meeting an off-road version of the Mustang was shown off. We don't know exactly the form of that concept, and it could easily have changed after dealer feedback. This clearly shows Ford is thinking outside the box about what constitutes a Mustang. Our more cynical side says the Blue Oval will slap pony badges on products which might not otherwise do as well. By cashing in on the vast social cache of the Mustang, it could sell more vehicles. Where's the limit? Will there be a three-row Mustang SUV? What about a super expensive two-seater Mustang supercar – oh wait, that exists. The future might bring us many more Mustang models, even if they're a horse of a different color entirely.
