Supreme Council for Media Regulation suspends media host Ahmed Shobier for two weeks
The Supreme Council for Media Regulation, headed by Khaled Abdel-Aziz, made an urgent decision against media figure Ahmed Shobier, host of the 'Hares Al-Ahly' (Al-Ahly's Goalkeeper) program on Al-Ahly TV channel, after a complaint was filed against him by the Zamalek Club.
Zamalek previously announced that it had filed a complaint against Shobier due to his repeated slandering of the club.
The Supreme Council for Media Regulation in a Tuesday statement explained that it had approved the findings of the Complaints Committee, headed by media figure Essam al-Amir.
These are to require Ahly TV channel to pay a sum of LE 100,000, and to prevent the broadcast of the 'Hares Al-Ahly' program for two weeks, as well as preventing media figure Ahmed Shobier from appearing on the channel in that period.
The statement added that the decision came after investigations conducted by the Complaints Committee were concluded, based on the recommendation of the Sports Media Performance Control Committee headed by Counselor Abdel-Salam Al-Naggar, Chairman of the Committee and Member of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, as well as the complaints received by the Committee and the results of the Monitoring Department regarding the program.

OPEN// Sisi performs Eid al-Adha prayers at new capital's Misr Mosque
CAIRO, June 6 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi performed Eid al-Adha prayers at Misr Mosque in the New Administrative Capital early on Friday morning. He was accompanied by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed El-Tayeb, Minister of Defense and Military Production General Abdel Meguid Saqr, Awqaf Minister Osama El-Azhari and several other senior state officials. Following the Takbirs and prayers, the mosque's imam delivered a sermon in which he said that the Hajj is among the greatest acts of worship, instilling high moral values and spiritual meaning in the human soul. Quoting the Qur'an, he said: 'That they may witness benefits for themselves'—a verse he described as encapsulating the multifaceted purpose of Hajj, benefiting individuals, society, and nations alike. On a human level, he said, Hajj offers a unique opportunity for self-reflection, a return to spiritual purity, and a shift from worldly distractions to a focus on the hereafter, as pilgrims begin a renewed, spiritually guided chapter in life. He added that Hajj also reinforces values of coexistence and tolerance, as millions of diverse ethnicities, languages, and cultures gather in one place, performing the same rituals in humility and unity. This diversity, he said, teaches acceptance, respect for difference, and patience in dealing with others—strengthening the principle of shared humanity. (MENA) R E E/

Toney never feared Saudi switch would end England recall chances
Al Ahli's Ivan Toney celebrates scoring their second goal. REUTERS/Stringer/File Photo (Reuters) - Ivan Toney said he never had any doubts about his chances of an England recall following his move to the Saudi Pro League after the free-scoring Al-Ahli striker returned to the squad ahead of Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Andorra. The 29-year-old, who last featured for England in their 2-1 defeat by Spain in the Euro 2024 final last July, was banned for eight months in 2023 for breaching the FA's rules on betting. He moved to Al-Ahli from Premier League club Brentford last August and has scored 30 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions for the Saudi side. The forward gave an emphatic "No" when asked at a training camp in Girona on Wednesday if he thought moving to Saudi Arabia may affect his England chances. "You see with me I think if you're just doing the right thing, playing football, playing well and scoring goals – a striker's job, that's what you're in a team to do – it doesn't matter where you play in the world, I feel like you should still get the chance," he told British media. "I think it's been proven me being me being back here and being back amongst the boys. It feels good to see the faces again and it feels good to get stuck in." Only Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo scored more goals - 25 - in the Saudi top-flight in the 2024-25 season than Toney, who notched 23, more than former Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema (21) and ex-Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (19). "I feel like I'm in good form. As you see, I'm here, I'm still scoring goals," said Toney, who has been capped six times for England. "So, hopefully I can keep doing that and be in the mix for the World Cup." After playing Andorra in Spain on Saturday England host Senegal in a friendly on June 10.
