Shura Chief Salutes Egypt
His Excellency Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, has extended Bahrain's heartfelt congratulations to Egypt on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the July 23 Revolution, calling it a symbol of determination and renewal in the Arab world.
In messages addressed to Egyptian President H.E. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Speaker of the House of Representatives H.E. Hanafy Ali El-Gebaly, and President of the Senate H.E. Abdel Wahab Abdel Razeq, H.E. Al Saleh conveyed Bahrain's pride in Egypt's enduring strength and national development.
Strong regional bond
H.E. Al Saleh described the 1952 revolution as a historic moment that shaped Egypt's modern identity and inspired progress across the region. H.E. underscored Bahrain's appreciation for Egypt's leading role in supporting Arab causes and fostering regional stability.
H.E. added that Bahrain and Egypt continue to enjoy deep-rooted fraternal relations built on mutual respect, solidarity, and cooperation.
The Chairman also reaffirmed the strength of bilateral parliamentary ties, saying that continued dialogue and coordination between the legislative institutions of both countries help promote shared values and strategic interests.
In his closing remarks, H.E. wished Egypt further prosperity, stability, and success under the leadership of President El-Sisi.

TDT | Manama Bahraini women are set to enter a new chapter of national development, focusing on assuming top leadership roles under a newly approved national plan by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) for 2025 and 2026. New roadmap Titled 'Bahraini Women: Empowerment, Progress and Striving for Leadership', the plan was endorsed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the SCW. It identifies four priority areas: family stability, decision-making, economic participation, and quality of life. Each area includes initiatives grouped under five axes: policy, budgeting, awareness and training, auditing, and evaluation. The two-year strategy builds on nearly two decades of institutional efforts to support women and aims to shift the focus from empowerment to leadership in both public and private spheres. From progress to power Unlike previous national strategies that concentrated on inclusion, the new plan signals a transition towards top-level leadership. It promotes women's access to senior roles across sectors, especially in fields such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and digital transformation. According to the SCW, Bahraini women now constitute 60 percent of the government workforce, with half of them in executive roles. In the private sector, women make up 36 percent of the total workforce and hold 36 percent of executive positions. The number of virtual commercial records owned by women reached 1,220 by 2024, representing 54 percent. Institutional partnership The plan introduces an implementation framework that engages government, private, and civil society sectors. This cooperative structure ensures shared national responsibility for advancing women, with clear roles and coordinated action. Among its goals are increased female participation on corporate boards, greater involvement in civil society leadership, and supportive family policies that allow women to balance personal and professional commitments. Forward strategy To improve quality of life, the plan outlines initiatives related to health, safety, and environmental awareness. It also includes programs to expand women's sports and improve support services in workplaces. By aligning with Bahrain's Vision 2030 and upcoming Vision 2050, the SCW aims to position Bahraini women as key contributors to sustainable development and economic growth.

Ethical AI Gets Bahrain Boost
TDT | Manama Bahrain has formally launched a national artificial intelligence (AI) policy and an ethics charter rooted in shared Gulf values, becoming the first country in the region to define AI governance through a blend of local legislation and cultural identity. Announced by the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) through its official website, the policy was launched in line with directives from His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology. The policy aims to ensure that AI technologies are used responsibly, ethically, and in line with the country's long-term development goals, including Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Governance and Growth Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of iGA, stated that the new framework seeks to promote economic and social development, enhance government efficiency, and raise Bahrain's competitiveness by unifying AI-related initiatives and embedding ethical safeguards into all implementations. The policy outlines clear compliance with national laws such as the Personal Data Protection Law, State Documents and Information Protection Law, and Open Data Policy. It also places strong emphasis on educating national cadres and raising awareness about AI's role in sectors like health, education, and public services. 'Through this initiative, we aim to build community trust in modern technologies while advancing digital transformation,' Al Qaed said. Ethical Foundations Complementing the policy, the newly adopted 'Guiding Charter for Artificial Intelligence Ethics' sets out core principles aligned with Islamic law and national identity. Approved by the GCC Ministerial Committee for eGovernment, the charter reinforces values such as human dignity, sustainability, privacy, fairness, and justice. The ethics charter rests on four pillars: supporting human autonomy, ensuring system integrity, preventing harm, and promoting non-discrimination. It also seeks to strengthen Gulf cooperation through knowledge exchange and shared digital standards. Stakeholder Engagement The policy is directed not only at government agencies and digital service providers but also at legislators, academics, and the broader public. It encourages AI literacy, training programs, and local-international partnerships to build a more informed and innovative society. By aligning AI development with local legislation and Gulf identity, Bahrain positions itself as a regional leader in ethical and strategic AI governance.
