While air travel is often lauded for its speed and convenience, one persistent issue remains largely unaddressed: the discomfort of airplane seating. Forget about stretching out or crossing your legs, the reality of cramped legroom often leaves passengers feeling stiff and restless. Travel vlogger Nicole Lazo offers a practical solution to combat this common problem. A DIY foot hammock crafted from a simple blanket or scarf, promising a more comfortable journey.

In the video shared on Instagram, the travel enthusiast takes out the complimentary blanket provided during the flight. Next, she makes a double knot with both ends. The vlogger then unlatches the tray table and opens it. She covers the table with the blanket with the knotted element in the middle, leaving a hollow-like opening drooping below. And that's all about it - your foot hammock is ready. After that, Nicole Lazo shows how easily she is able to rest her feet inside the gap.

"I used the free blanket they give you on the plane, but you can use any thin fabric, like a scarf. I've never tried keeping my feet up like this before while traveling, but it really helped! I was super comfortable and slept great! Happy travels!" read a part of her side note.

The internet had mixed reviews about the travel hack.
"This is genius!! I'm short and this would be so comfy instead of barely touching the floor," wrote one user, approving the method.
"This looks comfortable," admitted another.
"I don't see a problem with you making a hammock for your feet, but I'm just questioning why it would be more comfortable than having your feet on the floor, or on your luggage," wondered one person.
"This is the only travel tip I've ever seen on Instagram that is actually useful," noted an impressed individual.
"The flight attendants should stop this kind of inconsiderate act," commented a critic.
"So the whole time you are swinging your feet, the person in front is disturbed," read a sarcastic remark.

'Please do not go to the airport': Florida's Silver Airways shuts down, leaves passengers stranded

In a rather abrupt incident, Silver Airways, a Florida-based airline, took to Instagram to announce that it is halting all operations and is now advising passengers not to go to the airport. This move has left dozens of passengers stranded and flights being cancelled. The bankrupt airline also announced on Instagram that it has agreed to sell its assets to a buyer, and on the basis of this move, flight operations are now halted. After failing to secure a buyer during bankruptcy, Silver ceased all operations following an asset sale to Wexford Capital, which opted not to continue flights. The shutdown left passengers stranded and approximately 350 employees jobless. Silver Airways was a regional airline headquartered in Hollywood, Florida, founded in 2011 after acquiring assets from bankrupt Gulfstream International Airlines. It operated scheduled flights primarily from hubs in Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and San Juan (Puerto Rico), serving destinations across Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean with a fleet of turboprop aircraft including Saab 340s and ATR 42/72s . The airline expanded in 2018 by acquiring Seaborne Airlines, enhancing its Caribbean network and adding seaplane operations between St. Thomas and St. Croix. Silver faced persistent financial struggles, including bankruptcy filings in December 2024 and operational cuts.

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The bankrupt airline announced via Instagram that it would no longer serve customers and had agreed to sell its assets to a buyer that chose not to continue flight operations, as part of its debt restructuring efforts. The Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale-based airline, which began operations in 2011 with hubs in Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Orlando, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December to raise funds and stay competitive. On Wednesday, Silver Airways canceled 52 flights, per FlightAware data. Industry analyst Henry Harteveldt of Atmosphere Research Group told CBS News that the shutdown was expected, stating, "It was more a matter of when, rather than if, Silver would shut down." The airline served over a dozen destinations in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean, and operated a subsidiary, Seaborne, with seaplane services to St. Croix and St. Thomas. Silver Airways stated it would process refunds for customers through their credit card companies or travel agencies used for booking.
