Devi Ji has opened a small space for nearly 70 to 80 stray dogs in New Delhi, along with a few cats and parrots.
The Supreme Court has recently directed officials to clear all stray dogs from the streets and move them into shelters. The decision has triggered debates among animal lovers and activists. While this order has divided opinions, the story of a kind woman from Delhi is touching people's hearts. Known as Devi Ji, she has opened a small space for nearly 70 to 80 stray dogs, along with a few cats and parrots. Despite having very little, she chooses to dedicate her life to these voiceless beings, feeding and protecting them every day.
What makes her journey even more moving is her personal struggle. After losing her husband, her own children walked away and left her alone. Yet, instead of giving up, she found comfort in caring for abandoned animals. Recently, her story was shared by a popular influencer, Neetu Bisht, and it has quickly caught everyone's attention. Along with her story, a donation link and address were provided so that people can contribute in any way they wish.
The influencer said, 'Her children left them after her husband passed away. Hearing this brought tears to my eyes. Meet Devi Ji, who takes care of 70–80 dogs in a small shelter. I had come to Delhi. On the way, I noticed many dogs gathered in one place. I wondered where these dogs were living. After asking around, I found out about Devi Ji, who looks after them. Along with the dogs, she also cares for cats, parrots and many other animals."
Social Media Users Praise Devi Ji's Golden Heart
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, 'Earlier I was scared of dogs, thinking they'd bite… but after adopting my pet, I learned they never bite unless they feel their life's in danger…Even street dogs just come close for love, not to harm. This changed my heart completely. Almost all my reels are now about these innocent souls… do check them, you'll feel the love too."
Another shared, 'Thank you for sharing so much love and awareness. And I really wish to Visit her."
'Wish everyone had a heart like Devi mam and you ma'am," a comment read.
Another mentioned, 'This is called peace. This woman has a golden heart."
One more added, 'Influencers like you are needed."
The apex Court asked the stray dogs to be placed in cages due to the rising cases of stray dog attacks on children in Delhi. Some of these incidents were severe, which pushed the court to address the matter urgently.

Air India Express Bengaluru–Gwalior Flight Has Close Shave During Landing, All Passengers Safe

Air India Express said the pilot performed a precautionary go-around before a safe landing. Air India Express said a Bengaluru–Gwalior flight landed 'safely and uneventfully" on Saturday after performing a go-around at Gwalior Airport, but some passengers reportedly claimed the aircraft tilted to one side and shook violently during the first landing attempt. According to those onboard, as per reports, the Boeing 737 descended at an unusually high speed on its second approach, causing panic among the 150 passengers, with some screaming in fear. Eyewitnesses alleged a possible technical issue with the aircraft, though the airline maintained there were 'no issues" and that the crew's actions were precautionary. The flight, which arrived around 4 pm, continued its schedule after landing. In an official statement, an Air India Express spokesperson said, 'One of our aircraft performed a go-around followed by a safe and uneventful landing at Gwalior. Our crew is trained to carry out a go-around as a precautionary measure when required. The aircraft subsequently operated as scheduled." view comments First Published: August 16, 2025, 22:35 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Operation Sindoor makes way to Mathura Janmashtami celebration

Agency: PTI Mathura, Aug 16 (PTI) Operation Sindoor made its way to the Janmashtami celebration here, with the idol of Lord Krishna being placed in a 'sindoor' bungalow at the Keshavdev temple here. Priests say this is the 5252nd birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. According to the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust secretary Kapil Sharma, Operation Sindoor gave people a glimpse of Krishna with the Sudarshan Chakra. 'Therefore, the full incarnation Lord Shri Krishna will also sit in the 'Sindoor' bungalow and give darshan," Sharma said. He said Thakurji, as is Krishna also called, will preside in the Bhagwat Bhawan built on a high mound at Katra Keshavdev, a part of the temple. 'Thakurji will give darshan in the silver-plated sanctum sanctorum in the 'Sindoor pushp' bungalow wearing a 'Meghadhenu' dress," Sharma said. The temple official said the devotees will be able to enter the temple premises from 5.30 am to 1.30 pm for the Janmabhishek Darshan. Gopeshwar Nath Chaturvedi, member of Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan, said the entire temple has been decked up, with its sanctum sanctorum, famous as Kansa's prison, filigreed with 221 kg of silver. At Vrindavan's Radha Raman temple, Janmashtami is celebrated in the morning. Dinesh Chandra Goswami, Sewayat of Sri Radha Raman temple in Vrindavan, said, 'The morning Janamasthami celebration is in line with the appearance of Lord Radha Ramanji, which happens at the same time. Why wake up a child at night?" A special 'gurh' (jaggery) and til (sesame seeds) prasad is offered to the God, as part of a ritual. Later, the 'chhappan bhog' is offered to the deity, he said. Munish Sharma and Umesh Saraswat, managers of Thakur Bankebihari Temple of Vrindavan, said, according to instructions of the high court, only 500 devotees will be allowed to be present in the temple premises during Mangala Aarti on Sunday morning. 'So that there is no situation of pressure or stampede and the accident in 2022 is not repeated," one of them said.
