Officer stalked his ex after breakup using 10 different numbers, UT police say
An officer is accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend using 10 phone numbers after she ended their relationship, Utah police told news outlets.
The former girlfriend told Sandy City officers she broke up with Todd Douglas Goodsell of the Salt Lake City Police Department in November but he continued trying to contact her, police told KSTU.
He tried contacting her 52 times after she asked him to stop, police told KUTV.
'There is clear and convincing evidence that [Goodsell] is a danger to the victim. This case involves stalking of a former partner where [Goodsell] refused to cease contacting the alleged victim after she requested several times to stop,' the charging documents obtained by KUTV read.
The woman told officers she moved and changed her number along with her email address, police told KSL.
He also tried getting ahold of her through Instagram and Venmo and would make a new account after she'd block him, police told KSTU.
Goodsell started working as a patrol officer in 2019 and was put on paid administrative leave, Salt Lake City Police Department spokesman Brent Weisberg told the outlet.
Although the woman said Goodsell was never violent, officers told KUTV 'stalking can increase the risk of intimate partner homicide by three times.'
Goodsell, 40, was arrested on May 23 and charged with stalking a 'current or former cohabitant,' officers told KSL.
Sandy City is about a 20-mile drive southeast from Salt Lake City.

Fans Rage Over 'Hypocritical' 'King Of The Hill' Tribute To Jonathan Joss, Demand 'Public Apology'

Joss was gunned down near his San Antonio, Texas, home on June 1, in what is suspected to be a hate crime shooting. In a touching tribute, the team honored their late cast member, but fans believe it is fake, given that Joss was allegedly mistreated by the crew just two days before his passing. On the animated series' official Instagram page, a statement was released to mourn Jonathan Joss' loss. Alongside three photo slides, including an image of his on-screen character, the tribute read: "Rest in peace, Jonathan Joss. Jonathan brought King of the Hill's 'John Redcorn' to life for over a dozen seasons, including in the upcoming revival." It continued, "His voice will be missed at King of the Hill, and we extend our deepest condolences to Jonathan's friends and family." Just two days before he died, he was escorted out of a panel for the series as part of the ATX TV Festival held in Austin, Texas. While his co-stars Pamela Adlon, Lauren Tom, and Toby Huss, alongside writer Patterson, sat on stage to discuss the revival, the late actor was relegated to being in the audience. While the panel was still ongoing, Joss, as seen in a fan-recorded clip, grabbed the microphone to express his concerns. "I'm an actor. I see a mic, I use it. I see a wrong, I make it right. I take a breath, I want to breathe," he said to nervous laughs from the audience. Joss then informed his colleagues that his house had burned down three months prior. According to the deceased actor, the arson was a hate crime "because I'm gay." While the actor and a second person, presumably his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, were checking the mail, Ceja allegedly pulled up to the scene in a vehicle. The neighbor then got into an altercation with Joss, where he threatened, "he had a gun and would shoot," the witness claims. Joss was pronounced dead at the scene while authorities rounded up Ceja and seized his weapon. Upon his arrest, he allegedly told the officers, "I shot him [Joss]." He has since been booked for suspicion of murder and is currently being held on a $200,000 bond. Following the incident, Gonzales broke his silence about his husband's tragic death in a lengthy statement. The heartbroken spouse gave a firsthand account of the altercation, claiming they were targets of homophobia from neighbors. According to Gonzales, he and Joss were often threatened. On that fateful day, he alleged seeing the skull of one of their dogs with its harness placed in plain view, causing them to scream in distress. Their cry was what drew Ceja's attention. Missing California woman, 31, found dead in Arizona
(KTLA) — The body of a 31-year-old woman from California was discovered near a hiking trail in Scottsdale, Ariz., late last month, officials announced. Hannah Moody, described as a social media influencer by the Los Angeles Times, was first reported missing on May 21 just before 8 p.m. after friends said they had not heard from her and had been unable to reach her after she set off on a hike that day. In a news release, authorities with the Scottsdale Police Department responded to the trailhead where the 31-year-old had last been seen and found her vehicle still in the parking lot. 'Officers began search efforts on foot, with drones and assistance from a Phoenix Police Department helicopter,' the release stated. 'Search efforts continued for Hannah for approximately four and a half hours until around 11:30 p.m., when the search was called off for the evening.' In reporting by The Times, the 31-year-old had lived in Los Angeles, Orange and Alameda counties, as well as in South Carolina. 'Scottsdale detectives and crime scene personnel will now conduct a thorough investigation to piece together what happened to Hannah and how she died,' officials said in the release.
