TYLER, Texas (KETK) – East Texas Congressman Nathaniel Moran has given his support to the United States' attack on three Iranian nuclear sites announced by President Donald Trump on Saturday.
US bombs three Iran nuclear sites, entering war
'Peace through strength in action. This was a necessary step to protect America and its ally Israel from the clear and present danger presented by Iran and its advanced nuclear program. This is the kind of leadership the moment demands,' Moran tweeted on Saturday.
Moran's tweet came in response the following statement that President Trump made on social media, which announced that the United States' planes had bombed Iran's nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan.
'We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.'
President Donald Trump
U.S. Congressman Lance Gooden, who represents Athens, Canton, Mineola and Terrell, made a statement on Facebook thanking President Trump, the military and God.
'PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH! Thank you, Mr. President, and our great military! And thanks, especially, to God, for our pilots' safe return,' Gooden said.

U.S. Senator for Texas John Cornyn issued a statement calling the decision to attack the plants courageous.
'President Trump made the courageous and correct decision to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat. God Bless the USA. Thank you to our extraordinary military and our indomitable @POTUS This is what leadership on the world stage looks like,' Cornyn said.
East Texas State Representative Cody Harris of Palestine reposted a statement supporting the attack from Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Dustin Burrows, who's urging Texans to stand behind President Trump.
'President @realDonaldTrump has shown the strength and resolve of the United States on the world stage. Our military executed a precise and successful mission targeting key nuclear sites in Iran — a powerful message that we will never tolerate aggression or terrorism,' Burrows said. 'Texas must stand firmly behind our Commander-in-Chief, our troops, and the mission to protect American and innocent lives and defend freedom around the world. Our gratitude and prayers to our tremendous military. Peace is earned when strength is unquestioned.'
U.S. Congressman Ro Khanna (D-California) and U.S. Congressman Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky) have introduced a bipartisan Iran War Powers Resolution to Congress that would keep the United States from going to war with Iran without the approval of Congress.
President Trump addressed the nation from the White House at around 9 p.m. on Saturday. Watch the video above to hear his remarks.

Russian general seriously wounded on front line, regional leader says

(Reuters) -General Esedulla Abachev, deputy commander of Russia's Northern group of forces, has been seriously wounded on the front line of the war with Ukraine, a senior official said on Monday. Abachev comes from Russia's Dagestan region, whose leader Sergei Melikov said on Telegram that he was in a serious but stable condition in "one of the best military medical centres in the country". Ukrainian military intelligence said on Sunday that Abachev had an arm and a leg amputated after being wounded in a Ukrainian strike on a Russian military column on a highway in the Kursk region of western Russia, and that he was being treated in Moscow. Reuters could not confirm those details. At least a dozen Russian generals have been killed in the war that started with Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Abachev graduated from the Higher Tank Command School in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv when Ukraine was still part of the Soviet Union, which collapsed in 1991. He received the Gold Star of the Hero of Russia for his role in combat missions during the current war. Dagestani leader Melikov said he was the pride of the region, describing him as "a combat general and a wise commander who always tries to protect his personnel, sometimes neglecting his own safety". Democrat Sherrod Brown says he will try to return to US Senate in 2026

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Democrat Sherrod Brown of Ohio said on Monday he would try to return to the U.S. Senate seat in next year's midterm elections, a development that could bolster his party's chances of winning back control of the chamber. Brown, 72, said U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs and health-care cuts prompted him to return to politics. "I didn't plan to run for office again. But when I see what's going on, I know I can do something about it for Ohio," Brown said in a video posted to social media. Brown served for 18 years in the Senate before he lost 50.1%-46.5% to Republican Bernie Moreno last November. He built a reputation as a champion for blue-collar workers in Ohio, an industrial state that has lost jobs to globalization. The state, once a political battleground, has trended increasingly Republican over the past decade. Brown will likely face Republican Senator John Husted, who was appointed in January to temporarily fill the seat vacated by JD Vance when he became vice president. Husted previously served as Ohio's lieutenant governor. The winner of the November 2026 special election would serve the remainder of Vance's Senate term, ending in January 2029. Analysts say it will be difficult for Democrats to pick up the four seats they will need to win back control of the Senate, which now has a 53-47 Republican majority. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report said Brown, the only Democrat to win statewide office in the past two decades, will make the race competitive and moved its rating from "likely Republican" to "lean Republican."

Cable's MSNBC will change its name later this year as part of corporate divorce from NBC

Television's MSNBC news network is changing its name to My Source News Opinion World, or MS NOW for short, as part of its corporate divorce from NBC. The network, which appeals to liberal audiences with a stable of personalities including Rachel Maddow, Ari Melber and Nicole Wallace, has been building its own separate news division from NBC News. It will also remove NBC's peacock symbol from its logo as part of the change, which will take effect later this year. The name change was ordered by NBC Universal, which spun off cable networks USA, CNBC, MSNBC, E! Entertainment, Oxygen and the Golf Channel into its own company, called Versant. None of the other networks are changing their name. MSNBC got its name upon its formation in 1996, as a partnership then between Microsoft and NBC.
