Airtel says new fraud detection system shielded 3.5 million users in Delhi-NCR

NEW DELHI: Telecom operator Airtel on Thursday said its advanced fraud detection system has protected over 3.5 million users in Delhi-NCR within 43 days of launch of the new tool.
The statement assumes significance given the rising instances of digital frauds where unsuspecting users are lured online and deceived by scamsters leveraging advanced techniques, malicious links and fake profiles.
"As part of the nationwide rollout of its AI-powered fraud detection system, Airtel has successfully safeguarded more than 3.5 million users across the state, within just 43 days of launching its advanced fraud detection system," Airtel said in a release.
The system, automatically enabled for all Airtel mobile and broadband customers, scans and filters links across SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, e-mail, and other browsers.
"It leverages real-time threat intelligence to examine over 1 billion URLs daily and blocks access to harmful sites in under 100 milliseconds," the telco informed.

Tata Sons holds first board meeting after Air India plane crash

Tata Sons convened its first board meeting on Thursday following the Air India flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad, which claimed the lives of 241 passengers and crew members. The Tata Sons meeting, attended by the nine-member board that oversees the operations of over 100 companies within the vast Tata conglomerate, saw chairman N Chandrasekaran provide a detailed update on the relief efforts and ongoing support for the victims' families. People in the know of the proceedings revealed to PTI that Chandrasekaran apprised the board of the immediate steps taken by the Tata group since the Air India plane crash, which occurred on 12 June shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad en route to London Gatwick. The Boeing Dreamliner disaster claimed the lives of at least 270 people, including 241 passengers and crew members, with only one survivor. The board collectively expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the deceased during the meeting. Tata Sons emphasised its commitment to working closely with its majority shareholder, Tata Trusts, to extend and strengthen relief measures for those affected by the calamity. The Tata group has announced a compensation package of ₹ 1 crore (approximately £100,000) to be provided to the next of kin of every victim. This gesture underscores the conglomerate's resolve to offer tangible support in the aftermath of the tragedy. In addition to overseeing the group's broader response, Chandrasekaran has reportedly assumed direct control of Air India's day-to-day operations to ensure focused management during this critical period. Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines invested ₹ 9,558 crore in loss-making Air India in 2024-25, with the promoters pumping in ₹ 4,306 crore alone in March this year, PTI reported. The airline, being piloted by Tatas since January 2022, has embarked on an ambitious five-year transformation plan. In November 2024, Vistara -- a joint venture between Tatas and Singapore Airlines -- was merged with Air India, following which the Singaporean carrier acquired a 25.1 per cent stake in Air India. Tata Sons invested ₹ 3,224.82 crore, and Singapore Airlines put in ₹ 6,333.18 crore in Air India, taking the total fund infusion to ₹ 9,558 crore in the financial year ended March 2025.

‘We take data security seriously': Scale AI locks down sensitive files of Google, Meta and xAI that were reportedly made publicly accessible

Scale AI has secured sensitive project files of clients, including Meta and xAI , after a report suggested that thousands of them, stored in Google Docs, were publicly accessible via links. Following the report, Scale AI, which uses human gig workers to improve the AI models of major tech companies, have now secured those files. A report by Business Insider cited four Scale contractors who remained anonymous to claim that this action temporarily prevented teams of workers from opening training documents. According to the report, thousands of Scale AI files that were previously reviewed and found to be public are now private. The company also recently resolved many of the document access issues for teams and contributors who are now being granted individual access to documents, one worker confirmed. What Scale AI said about securing its clients' files from public access In a statement to BI, a Scale AI spokesperson said, 'We take data security seriously. We remain committed to robust technical and policy safeguards to protect confidential information and are always working to strengthen our practices.' The company also said that it is conducting a thorough investigation and has disabled public document sharing from its systems. However, the company has yet to comment on the specific security changes it has implemented. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo While the report didn't mention any signs of a data breach at Scale AI, cybersecurity experts said that publicly accessible documents could expose the company to potential hacking risks. As per the previous report, Scale AI left over 85 public Google Docs accessible online, exposing sensitive and confidential information related to AI projects for clients like Google and Meta. Some documents also contained employee contact details. The issue came to light after the older report prompted Scale AI to restrict document sharing. The sudden lockdown disrupted work for many contractors, with some teams losing access mid-task. The document lockout further added to the uncertainty faced by Scale AI contractors, who were already impacted by Meta's investment and hiring of CEO Alexandr Wang for its new AI initiative. Following the deal, Google paused several projects with Scale AI, and both OpenAI and xAI also halted work with the company. Contractors reported that projects were paused without warning, and while Scale AI informed them about the Meta investment, many were reportedly not notified about the client pullbacks. iQoo Neo 10 Review: Flagship-Like Gaming Experience at Just Rs 31,999!
