Museum of the Future to participate in Austin's South by Southwest 2025
Dubai's Museum of the Future, a beacon of innovation and future foresight, announced its participation in South by Southwest (SXSW), the world's leading event for technology, innovation, and art, held in Austin, Texas from 7 to 15 March 2025.
Over the course of five days, the museum will showcase Dubai's forward-looking vision for technology, foresight and culture by hosting 20 activations, panel discussions and interactive experiences.
This internationally renowned annual event, first held in 1987 in the United States, brings together conferences, festivals, and specialised activities spanning technology, film, music, education, and culture. The previous 2024 edition welcomed over 300,000 participants from around the world.
As part of its participation, the Dubai Future Foundation will serve as the official sponsor of SXSW's 2050 Track, facilitating discussions on topics including lunar living, artificial intelligence, and the future of food. The Museum of the Future house has been specially designed to captivate international audiences with Dubai's forward-looking vision.
A Global Platform
Majed Al Mansoori, Executive Director of the Museum of the Future, explained that the museum's participation in South by Southwest presents an invaluable opportunity to introduce Dubai's spirit to the world. Al Mansoori said: 'The Museum of the Future embodies the remarkable vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. By participating in SXSW, we will demonstrate Dubai's ambition to shape a positive future for humanity on one of the world's leading stages for technology, culture and art. The Museum of the Future experience will provide Austin with a window into our city; we'll show why we are rapidly emerging as a global hub for innovation, talent and investment.'
Visitors to the Museum of the Future House at SXSW will have the opportunity to participate in 20 events and activations, including expert-led panel discussions and AI-powered interactive experiences. Among the highlights is Earth Dreams, a pioneering digital artwork by internationally acclaimed artist Refik Anadol, renowned for transforming real environmental data into dynamic visual narratives. Taking a piece of Dubai to Austin, Earth Dreams can also be found on the second floor of Dubai's Museum of the Future.
The event will also host distinguished speakers, including astronauts, urban planning experts and filmmakers, to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of a diverse number of key areas. These discussions will provide valuable insights into the role of innovation and creativity in driving meaningful transformations across various sectors.
Notable UAE Participation
Key speakers at the festival include UAE astronaut Hazzaa Al Mansouri, Canadian astronaut Shawna Pandya, international film producer Gianluca Chakra, renowned author Geci Karuri Sebina, Emirati animator Mohammed Saeed Harib, the creator of the animated series 'Freej' and founder of Cinema Akil Butheina Kazim along with other key industry leaders.

If you're looking to make the most of the long weekend without hopping on a plane or going full tourist mode, Abu Dhabi's got plenty up its sleeve. This Eid Al Adha, the capital is dialling things up with a fun mix of concerts, cultural experiences, family brunches and special deals you just won't be able to say no to. It's going to be a mini getaway where the whole crew gets entertained. And yes, the little ones are well taken care of. Here's your guide to what's on, what to eat, where to go, and why it's all worth a try. Cultural experiences you cannot miss If you're after something meaningful this Eid, cultural activations are popping up across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. There are lots of foodie and cultural experiences, like the chance to feast on a traditional Emirati meal in a majlis setting at House of Artisans and get your henna done and more. CMA partners with 'FilmGate' to grow creative industries, promote production sector in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI - Abu Dhabi's Creative Media Authority (CMA) has announced a new partnership with one of the UAE's leading independent, Emirati-owned and operated production houses, FilmGate to secure a suite of benefits for the wider production industry in Abu Dhabi. FilmGate will produce a minimum of 15 productions in Abu Dhabi over the next five years. The productions will employ 50 percent of production talent from within the CMA's ecosystem. The partnership will also provide extensive learning and development benefits for the ecosystem including annual workshops hosted by FilmGate for the industry on a specialist production topic and four, six-month paid internships per annum for young Emirati talent with a view to providing permanent employment opportunities to grow and nurture talent from within the UAE. Mohamed Dobay, Acting Director-General of Creative Media Authority, said, 'Establishing partnerships with local and regional production leaders is a key element of our industry development strategy to make Abu Dhabi a global content hub. Alongside attracting the major Hollywood and Bollywood productions, it is critical that we support and increase the Arab content produced in Abu Dhabi to ensure we are building an ecosystem where Emirati and wider Arab narratives can thrive.' 'The partnerships we are curating are designed to deliver unrivalled opportunities throughout the ecosystem, from employment for our 1000 plus registered freelancers to intern opportunities for our young creatives; these partnerships support on all levels.' Founded by leading Emirati filmmaker Mansoor Al yahbouni al Dhaheri, FilmGate will also benefit from the recent update on the rebate offered by Abu Dhabi Film Commission where qualifying productions now can apply for cashback on production and postproduction spend starting at 35 percent up to 50 percent based on meeting a clear set of criteria. Mansoor Al yahbouni al Dhaheri, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of FilmGate, added, 'It is a significant year for Abu Dhabi with the new rebate for production starting January 1 and a partnership of this nature with Creative Media Authority will allow us to maximise all that Abu Dhabi offers in terms of filming locations, creative infrastructure, talent and financial support to produce more content than ever before.'
