NTPC adopts 2 white tigers at Ranchi zoo
Chatra: The NTPC-owned North Karanpura super thermal power plant has taken a significant step towards wildlife conservation by adopting two majestic white tigers 'Himanshi' and 'Java' at the Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park, Ranchi. NTPC will spend Rs 6 lakh annually on the two tigers for their upkeep.
NTPC officials said the initiative has been made in collaboration with the
Jharkhand Zoo Authority
, Ranchi.
They also said the adoption process was not just a symbolic act but exemplified NTPC North Karanpura's unwavering commitment towards biodiversity conservation and protection of the country's rich wildlife heritage.
The PSU's public relations officer, Mohini Kumari, said under the initiative, NTPC will provide financial support for care, medical services and nutrition among others of both the white tigers for a year.
Under this partnership, various programmes will also be organised to spread public awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation. "NTPC's name and logo will be displayed near the tiger enclosure, which will be a proud symbol of our responsibility towards nature and environment," Kumari added.
A senior NTPC officer said its North Karanpura plant continued to carry forward the PSU's values of sustainable development, sensitivity and harmonious co-existence with nature.

Mumbai: Western Railways cracks down on ticketless travellers in AC locals, improves punctuality of trains
