NTPC celebrates Labour Day
1 2 Chatra: NTPC-owned North Karanpura super thermal power plant in Tandwa, Chatra , celebrated International Labour Day based on the theme of ' Labour Rights Day '. The programme was actively attended by workers, engineers, technical personnel and officers. On this occasion, project head Sanjib Kumar Suwar addressed the gathering and underlined the role of workers in organisational development. NTPC adopts 2 white tigers at Ranchi zoo
Chatra: The NTPC-owned North Karanpura super thermal power plant has taken a significant step towards wildlife conservation by adopting two majestic white tigers 'Himanshi' and 'Java' at the Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park, Ranchi. NTPC will spend Rs 6 lakh annually on the two tigers for their upkeep. NTPC officials said the initiative has been made in collaboration with the Jharkhand Zoo Authority , Ranchi. They also said the adoption process was not just a symbolic act but exemplified NTPC North Karanpura's unwavering commitment towards biodiversity conservation and protection of the country's rich wildlife heritage. The PSU's public relations officer, Mohini Kumari, said under the initiative, NTPC will provide financial support for care, medical services and nutrition among others of both the white tigers for a year. Under this partnership, various programmes will also be organised to spread public awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation. "NTPC's name and logo will be displayed near the tiger enclosure, which will be a proud symbol of our responsibility towards nature and environment," Kumari added. A senior NTPC officer said its North Karanpura plant continued to carry forward the PSU's values of sustainable development, sensitivity and harmonious co-existence with nature.

Chatra: Hazaribag MP Manish Jaiswal on Tuesday met union minister of environment, forest and climate change Bhupendra Yadav in New Delhi and raised the issue related to employment and environmental protection in the NTPC-owned Pakri-Barwadih coal mines area. The conveyor belt and rapid loading system constructed by NTPC is now ready. If transportation work is shifted to conveyor belt in one go, over 5,000 people in the area will be unemployed. He urged Yadav to give priority to employment security and environmental protection demanding permission for at least 50% coal transportation by road so that families get relief and social economic balance is maintained. tnn
